Donuts suck
Or rather, people that bring donuts to work suck. I have a really hard time staying away from them if they're just sitting there waiting for me. I almost never eat things like that normally. I don't buy them, so I don't eat them.
I have some sweets in the house that I keep stashed, but I don't have difficulties eating those in moderation. Stupid office donuts, what a waste of 200 calories.
doughnuts - blech?
[sorry, elf. inside joke.]
edit: whadami talking about? you've been here longer than i have. you must know doughnut controversy....

what's the controversy?
i have a roll up the rim free donut!! and i never had to buy a a drink there to get it :)
a couple of years ago somebody posted about eating a dozen doughnuts in one sitting. i responded, "blech." it was the beginning of a legendary sh1tstorm now known as "donut wars."
donuts are like heroin. and heroin is gross.
don't try to tell that to a proud and unrepentant binge eater.
donuts are like french fries...greasy, trans fat laden, addictive carb loaded pieces of goodness that cannot be eaten in moderation. Not to mention they taste better topped with more high fructose corn syrup (aka ketchup for fries and maple syrup, glaze, and other sweet delights for donuts). That's why I steer clear of those bad boys.
really? youre all nuts, i love donuts, munchkins are perfect, you have 1 oe 2, and youre done, no major harm done, no harm at all, if you like them, have them!

Actually, if donuts are like heroin, that would make munchkins a gateway drug! ![]()
At least I just took one...there was an entire box O_O
The only donuts I eat now are when just before giving blood, I am given a donut or half a donut and a small cup of orange juice.
I remember the good old days (OK, the bad old days) when, while drinking a pot of coffee, I would eat 18 of those small chocolate covered donuts that came in a "bag".
Last year, after having been in my diet/exercise campaign for several weeks, I saw on the Internet that it was "National Donut Day." So I went to Casey's and bought 4 donuts and ate them. Then I walked down to the grocery store, bought 4 more, and ate them. That was my last donut-eating orgy!
It would be fun to eat a package of those chocolate-covered donuts again!
Before Andrew Weil wrote his popular health books (Spontaneous Healing etc.), he wrote drug books, like From Chocolate to Morphine. In that one, he explains why sugar fits the definition of a drug, and that it is a more dangerous substance than heroin.
Are munchkins the same as doughnut holes/Timbits? Or are they really tiny doughnuts?
oo soo tempting. Especially in a box of assorted doughnuts.
That's one reason I am happy I am in France and don't have to face Tim Hortons (Canada) boxes of doughnuts. OR TIMBITS ..man those are bad. I used to eat a whole box of 20 of them without even thinking when I was younger. 100 CALORIE PER TIMBIT ...AS IF.

What the heck could the controversy be able? Eating a dozen donuts in one sitting IS blech. The end.

Donuts eaten when giving blood don't count. True Fact. And I don't eat the donuts anyway, I always go for the cookies. :)
The True Fact part: The last time I gave blood a few weeks ago (for the first time in almost 10 years, after dropping weight and getting my blood pressure down) the nurse and I were discussing cookies and calories and she mentioned that donating blood is the equivalent of burning 650 calories due to the energy your body has to expend to create replacement blood cells. I looked it up, respectable health organizations say the same thing.
Just wanted to come back and say that I find donuts as delicious and the next person. But really, a dozen regular sized donuts in one sitting is gross.
doughnuts are gorgeous. cold, they're okay. but when their fresh and hot and just out of the fryer then they're rolled in cinnamon and sugar - that's when they become heavenly.
in Australia we have a chain called Donut King and they have this annoying deal- buy any drink and get 2 fresh doughnuts for 50c. it's so hard, they're trained to ask you the question. so I'll go there with family and try to be good by just getting a cup of tea with skim milk and bam! do I want doughnuts with that? it's not fair!
All I have to say is that Homer Simpson will not approve of this forum.. ![]()

Booyah! That helps make up for the big meal they always provide after I give blood! I would love to try Tim Horton's or Timits. Also, although they are rather sweet, at an airport terminal a couple of years ago, one morning waiting for our departure, I ate 6 Krispy Kreme donuts, and they were rather tasty.
bunnyshadow: I feel that way right now! "do I want doughnuts with that? it's not fair!"
