Dude, I'm hungry.

My afternoon meal is still 30 minutes away. I've got a 355 calorie meal planned. I can't wait! Being hungry sucks, but I guess it's a pretty natural part of cutting calories. I like to think that when I'm hungry my body has not choice but to eat itself for nourishment, thereby causing me to melt off the pounds. Not sure if it's true, but I like to think it.

Your not alone, I like to think that as well lol

How many calories are you eating a day? Do you work out? I feel hungry pretty often too :/

I'm eating 1800 cal/day. Sometimes I come in a little low though. I like to eat six 300 calorie meals, but sometimes I only get five. I'm not working out at all right now, but I hope to start soon.

What are some of your 300 cal meals?
Are you eating enough fiber and protein at breakfast? I have a 2 cup yogurt raspberry almond butter smoothie that really sticks. Eggs work well too. Also it's normal to be getting hungry a half hour before lunch. A good appetite will make that salad or whatever look really good! If you could chew off your arm, however, you should tweak your breakfast.

What kind of stuff are you eating?

Have you planned in things that are high in volume & low in calories? Things like celery, apples, grapes, bell pepper, banana, tomato, cucumber, carrots (steamed or raw), cherries ... all those fruits vegetables spread throughout the day can really fill you up. If you ate 100 calories of celery ... your gut would probably explode. Fiber Fiber Fiber.

Then ... working in small measured portions of protein & fat like a few nuts or some pieces of olives ... also fends off hunger in a sustainable balanced way too.

The other thing. How busy are you? Go start getting those workouts in. Don't sit around. Get active. Stay away from the TV/computer. Move.

I just mix up different combinations of raw fruits and vegetables until I hit 300 cals. In the evenings I have a meat like a small grilled pork-chop, ground beef patty, or chicken breast. I throw in some dairy here and there as well as some low cal bread. Sometimes I eat a peanut butter sandwich for about 300 cals, and I frequently make a meal of Kashi Golean with fruit. Other times I'll eat a Lean Cuisine meal. I don't like to eat a lot of those frozen meals because I just don't think they're good for me, but sometimes ease of preparation wins out over good sense. Smile

Actually a great way of looking at it.. I like " Hunger is fat leaving the body " mantra . The other good thing about being hungry is that you know you are in deficit.

I bet you are hungry... that seems a bit low. Try upping it a little bit. Some salads perhaps or egg whites. A large egg white only has like 15 calories. I had 3 today with spinach on Sara Lee whole wheat toast, Completely filled me up less than 200 calories. :)

are you getting enough protein?  ditto on the eggs.  a couple tablespoons of a lower fat hummus for veggie dip helps too.  what about water?  are you drinking at least 8 cups a day?  sometimes when I think I'm hungry I'm actually thirsty....sorry if you are already doing these things...just throwing ideas out there!

Boiled eggs are a staple in my diet. I forgot to mention those. I also eat deli meats in 2 - 3 oz quantities. I drink a TON of water. I get at least 64 oz/day.

When I cut down on high sodium foods like canned veggies I started to get less hungry. In fact I sometimes feel too full, trying to get in the green on my analysis.

I have been trying to eat about 9 calories or less for every pound I weigh.  That will give you about 2 calories per pound burned than your intake per day.

I found it works great for me. Then when you add exercise on top of that you get a pretty good calorie loss.

If you eat more protein you will feel less hungry... although you still will eventually get hungry! ha ha. I love being excited about eating though and 1/2 of the excitement occurs when my stomach starts to growl! I hate forcing myself to eat when I am not hungry, it just makes me feel heavy and funky. LOL. Enjoy your dinner! I am sure it will be tasty!

As for the lean cuisine meals, I would recommend diluting them with some low calorie higher volume foods.  For example, mixing in some vegetables with a pasta dish. That way you will have a higher volume of food  and may feel fuller without adding a lot of calories.

A dietician once told me that women usually feel satisfied eating about 2.5 pounds (1100 - 1200 grams) of food a day.  For men, it's about 3 pounds (about 1500 grams).  If you are logging your food on calorie count, it will give you a total weight of food for the day and you can compare it.

I read an article once that really helped me.  The guy that wrote it said that if you're trying lose weight, you're going to be hungry sometimes.  He said he had tried everything to help the hunger pangs, but it's just part of it.  He  also said that there are worse things than feeling hungry, but I remember a couple of nights having a hard time sleeping because I was hungry. I think that if you restrict your caloric intake and work out in order to lose weight-there are going to be times that you're hungry, but it sucks.

Greeeeeeen Tea!

I reckon thats the one for getting one through the in-between meal stage. no extra cals, and the warm liquid makes you feel all warm and full.

eat this  Steamfresh Brussels Sprouts (Birds Eye) Serving Size: 1 container (92g), Calories: 50, Fat:  ;0g, Carbs: 9g, Protein:  3g
