Emergen-C drink supplement

Quote  |  Reply

Has anyone heard of this or take this? It's a powder dietery supplement, comes in a small package and you put in your water. It's 25 calories and 6 g of carbs and has niacin, viatamin B, etc. I just tried the Pink lemonade and i like it. I was wondering if it's any bad for you or good? Considering i only drink water, i was thinking maybe i can have one or 2 of these a day in my water, i really miss drinking stuff with flavor in it lol I'm really not wanting it cause of the dietery supplement part but i like it. I did have these vitamin c tablets that dissolve in water once, and it kinda tastes like those...

My husband loves them. We get a big box from Costco's and he usually has it prior to workouts and sometimes after too. Great source of potassium for those who weight train and are out of bananas or don't have the extra calories for one. It is also great if you potentially work in a place that always has someone sick...so much vitamin C that your chances of getting sick (while taking it on a regular basis) are slim to none.

Like you said taste good too, so there is your bonus!

ooo good to know, thanks! :)

Having one a day is great for you.  It is like taking a vitamin, but that also means that you shouldnt overdo it.  Taking too many supplements is not good for you.  Try having one a day and flavor your water with crystal light.  There are many flavors, it has fewer calories than emergen-C and it wont make you go overboard with the vitamins.  Also zip-fizz has a more complete dose of vitamins plus caffiene so this would be a great alternative if you got bored of the emergen-C.

Sorry ashley...it is nothing like taking a vitamin..it is very hard to find, if there even is, a 1 single multi-vitamin that has everything your body needs; that is why many people take a multitude of supplements. Most multi-vitamins only give you about 1/2 of the dose in them unless they are slow releasing and even then you are still not getting the benefits of all the doses. That is why multi-vitamins are considered supplements not a source of food. Food is always where you should get your vitamins and then using a multi-vitamin for anything you didn't get in your food!

* also saying taking too many supplements isn't good for you is like saying eating healthy with greens and protein in every meal is bad...to me that just sounds like you don't know what you are talking about or maybe you have a problem having a healthy balanced diet-all the time!

You should try the zero calorie or five calorie flavors - that way you are not drinking your calories! There used to be a COFFEE FLAVOR (I have the last 2 boxes - and I am savoring them)... but they discontinued it which was TERRIBLE in my eyes because I would make slushies with it mixed with ice cubes & stevia! ugh - Oh well, I have come to discover flavor concentrates that can be of substitute, except that they do not carry the vitamins!

If this is the only way you can obtain your vitamins, then go ahead and drink up but limit yourself to 2 - 3 packets a day because 20 to 25 calories can add up!!

I love ZipFizz.  I buy a big box at Costco, assorted flavors.  The citrus is my favorite flavor.  I do not like carbonated energy drinks like Monster or Red Bull, etc.  I have a desk job that can get slow at times and sometimes I start feeling tired.  ZipFizz always energizes me!  I know it's probably the caffeine, but it works good for me!

Sorry Erika, you are right about the multi-vitamin in that it is hard to find the perfect fulfilling one but it actually can be very bad for one to take too many supplements.  One should know that when taking too many vitamins and minerals , that the excess will be flushed out of your body considering that they are water soluble.  Too much of a supplement like protein on the other hand will put extreme pressure on the kidneys to do their job. It depends what supplements you are taking in excess to decide wether it will be bad for you or not.

I agree. There is nothing wrong with these mixes or drinks such as Emergen C or 5 hour energy. They are vitamin supplements. I just think they are overpriced for what they are. I buy a huge bottle of Vitamin C with 250 tablets for just $6, and B is even cheaper. You can't overdo water soluble vitamins like C or B, you just pee out what you don't use. I take 4 grams of Vitamin C a day, the equivalent of 4 packs of Emergen C. I'm still just under the amount I need in my blood according to the last vitamin panel I took.

Too much of any fat-soluble vitamin can kill you. Period. (E, K, A, etc.)

Only water-soluble vitamins can be taken in excess. But its a waste. (B, C.)

Even calcium can be harmful in larger amounts.

this information is easily found in an internet search.

I have the box right beside me.  It is a vitamin supplement and it statesto take only one package per day.  Jut because it is afizzydrink doesn't mean thatyou can have more than one aday.

I bought the Roses' Pink this time to support The Keep a Breast Project.

Ick, I hate these.  They taste terrible!  I just like to make fresh lemonade with stevia for my vitamin C =]

My family has taken this for years.  My natural doctor who uses bioenergetic feedback has tested me with needing 1 every other day.  Why it is good is the trace minerals that we tend to not get in our diet.  Some people with  seemingly minor yet frustrating  issues such as muscle aches and fatigue could very well just be deficient in minerals.  I am trying to figure out if the product Zip Fizz, which is similar but more expensive, is the same or better in some way - if anyone has done the research.

(we only like the tangerine flavor)
