Should I Expect More Weight Gain....If That's What This Is....?

Quote  |  Reply

So I've been losing 0.25 in off each part of my body per week for months. As of saturday my stomach (biggest part of stomach below navel) was 31.75 inches. But I measured today and I got measurements anywhere from 32 inches to 32.5 inches. My waist got usually about 0.25 inches bigger (I measured many times).

However, my hips are the same and so are my thighs. So is this weight gain? I recently upped my calories from on average 1300 to on average 1600. I still have deficits, but obviously not as big.

I'm really confused, is this bloat? Although it's first thing in the morning after I used the bathroom, when I always measure. If this is weight gain, am I going to continue gaining weight!? Is this just temporary, water weight, my body getting used to more food? I feel so much bigger even in my hips although they're the same.

If this is water weight/weight gain, can I start from here and continue losing 0.25 in/week as I attempt to lose my last 10ish lbs?

Help!

Bump ?

!

Why are you eating so few calories? You are not losing weight in a healthy manner.

I know, I shouldn't have eaten 1300. But I feel like 1600 is reasonable, since I'm not that active. I try for at least 30 minutes a day, and minimum 20 mintues but if it's 20 minutes then it's intense bodyrocktv videos. I sometimes get in extra walks or 15-minute videos but that's it.

Since I bumped my calories, my abdomen measurements changed but not my hips or anything, so I don't know if it's weight gain. but if it is, do you think I will continue to gain, maintain, or lose?

I am still not understanding why you are eating 1,600 calories. That is not enough for a healthy person. You should be eating AT LEAST 1,800. Note the stress on AT LEAST

To be honest, it seems like many people maintain on that amount. I see tons of people on caloriecamp who are sometimes exercising more and eat that much to maintain. I am fairly satisfied with 1,600 calories, sometimes I go higher, and I feel if I go too much higher I won't lose at the rate that I want to--about 1-1.25 lb/week. (or 0.25 in/week.) Which I don't feel is unhealthy; I don't want to lose only 0.5 lb a week.

What's your age/height/current weight?

I don't use CalorieCamp (disabled it as soon as it became an option) but I just re-enabled it, and I couldn't tell who on the list is trying to maintain and who is trying to lose. Am I missing something?

16 - you are still growing, so you need more calories than the average woman

5'7 - you are taller than the average woman, so you need more calories

145 lbs - again, you are bigger than the average woman, so you need more calories.

The average woman needs at least 1,8000 calories. You are taller and you are still a teen. You need, by my estimate, around 2,300 calories or so.

Ouch. I didn't think I was bigger than the average woman....are you sure you're not assuming weights (my brother thinks an average weight for 5'7 is 110 for a female)/thinking of short women who would of course weigh less....?

I think I'll stick to 1600 because I want to lose weight, not maintain weight.

No, you don't weigh more than an average woman - not given your height. No clue why armando would say that. Your BMI is 22.8 - perfectly in the normal range.

Using a teen calculator, you only burn 1800 if you are sedentary. I don't know how much exercise/activity you are doing, but if you are moderately active, you burn ~2600, and so should eat 2100 to lose weight. If you are lightly active, it's more like 2250, so perhaps 1750 would be a good target. If you aren't sure, I'd suggest half way between those two targets.

Either way, I'm very glad you aren't still eating 1300. Regardless of your activity, that was definitely too low.

The 1,800 calorie recommendation by the FDA is based on someone who weighs less than 145 lbs.

Eeeekkkkk! your 16, I have been giving you adult advice all this time X / (I assumed you were early 20s I shouldn't have assumed, I feel negligent), please starting eating 1800-2000 asap!

Please up you cals to 1800 at least, if you gain you may have upset your metabolism and may have to gain to start losing healthy again (and may want to see your doctor).

Boys are dumb, especially teen age boys, I have two of those for brothers they say and do the dumbest things sometimes :P I think even some models at 5'7" weight more than 110lbs

Do you have a article/link on this armandounc? I just myself have gotten to 145lbs, I eat above my BMR but not that much yet (and I am still for losing), I may have to re-adjust my process/methods with this info.

Also fitnfierce, when I was your age I was about your height and I still grew another inch (so yes you still need to grow hun :D). Also 145lbs on a teen 5'7" can look far fitter than a 5'7" 145lbs adult female. I am only 1 inch taller than you and about 10 years older and you look about 1/2 my size!

Thanks :) I honestly don't know if I'm mdoerate or light--probably light if you're looking at time. I exercise 6 days a week 25+ minutes. On weekends it's more like 50 and on weekdays it's 25-40; the less it is it's pretty intense, like bodyrock tv videos.

I know everyone says eat more and you will still lose weight, but how much weight? 1/2 lb/week isn't much.
