Fat girls...Pretty Faces?

Quote  |  Reply

I've always thought that most "Fat Girls" (me being one ;)) have pretty faces. I think that if I didn't at least have a pretty face to accompany my killer bod *rolls eyes* I'd be even more unhappy with myself at times. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever noticed this trend of chubby chicks with pretty faces. I also feel that it's almost an excuse. Like well at least I have a cute face, I can put makeup on and fix my hair. At least that's how I feel sometimes?

In my opinion, the girls who are most body obsessed, trying to make themselves perfect at all moments of the day, are the ones with the ugliest faces.. take Kim Kardashian for example.  If I saw her in person, I would be very scared.  I'm serious.  Her face is very freaky.  I can think of quite a few chubby or even very overweight girls who have beautiful faces.

This is exactly me! Sometimes the only thing that makes me feel half-decent is the fact that I'm not ugly and that if I really tried, I could lose the weight and probably be better looking than every girl I've ever acknowledged as being beautiful. I'm only 17, so I'm hoping I'll lose the excess weight before highschool's done! Best of Luck to everyone! <3

I don't know if it's pretty, but I think the chubby quality might give them a more child-like/ youthful look. Then again, it might also be the energy they exude that makes them seem more attrative.

I think this is a bit of a sweeping statement. But yeah, I've known plenty of bigger girls with lovely faces. My cousin Becky is one of them - she has been a plus size model - and her face is absolutely stunning. I also had a larger friend with a lovely face who got a ton of male attention - I actually wondered a couple of times if this sort of served as a hindrance to her weight loss attempts, in the sense that she didn't really feel compelled to do so for any 'external' reason because she was already so sought after. [Not that weight loss should be undertaken for vanity reasons - it should be done so for health - but we know that the former is frequently the impetus for many].

I second jaefuma on the youthful quality a larger face often engenders - since becoming "weight restored" from my ED (anorexia), my face has truly "rounded out". Resultingly, a few people have commented that I look much younger. Likewise, sometimes when you see women who were larger and have lost a lot of weight (particularly if the loss was rapid), they can suddenly appear rather "drained" and much older. A little fat certainly smooths out the wrinkles (hence fat injections, I'spose).

*Sigh*. Face and bodily preoccupations. At the end of the day, what makes somebody beautiful is the spirit which emanates from these physical forms. I don't mean to sound wishy washy and idealistic - I truly do believe this to be the case. It becomes truer and truer in my estimation the farther I journey.

I was sitting in a bar one night a few years ago, at the time my weight was about 313. This man younger then me set down at the table I was at. I was there waiting for someone who stood me up and he must seen the upset look on my face. He said mam you are very pretty if you just wasn't so fat. This has been said to me alot....I am thankful my husband did not mind the Fat me.

Yeah, that is me, If I only had the body to match. My hubby says I'm beautiful and never pokes fun at my weight but I always tell him that he needs to be honest. And he told me in a non mean way that yeah if I lost weight that my face and my body would totally be bangin' together. That is why I love face pictures better than full body of myself.

I think Kim Kardashian has a beautiful face......

Well, I've seen unattractive and attractive girls who are overweight. Not just attractive, that's for sure.

And I'm really tired of just being a pretty face. I want my body to match so bad. But if I want it bad enough I need to make life changes.

I agree jblarghp, Kim Kardashian's face is stunning. And so is yours by the way (and your dog is gorgeous too - haha even if not in the 'conventional' sense). Life is much more beautiful when one widens one's perception of what constitutes beautiful. It really pays to embrace a more accepting and loving attitude, towards both others and ourselves. Life becomes much easier. Which is why I really respond to calorie count's emphasis on health. We should aspire to healthy weight loss (or maintenance/weight gain) goals for life - for living. I need to throw out my mirrors and scales.

Kim Kardashian has an amazing face, wth?

On the other side of things, I have an ugly face and am not fat.  When I started to put on weight, I was like no, this is NOT acceptable. I can't be fat AND ugly....  I think if I had a prettier face, I wouldn't worry so much about staying thin.

I don't want to offend here-- but.....That seems a little wide of a statement to me. Like making a blanket statement about a race or gender. I have seen many heavier people, both male and female, with a diversity of physical characteristics and also diverse in attitudes.

The weight, for me, is centered on health. Ususally, when you meet someone--no matter who they are or what they look like--you can always find something that is outstandingly beautiful in them or about them.

I agree maryann. I've yet to find someone about whom I've not found something beautiful. That goes for both looks and personality. I'm sort of a "closet optimist" in that respect, I suppose. I must say though, the more I get to know a person, the more beautiful I tend to find them. This just goes with learning more about them as a person, and having them reveal further *special* traits unique to them.

Hmmm.  I don't really notice the "beauty" of a person's face much, actually.  I notice their demeanor.  If they hold themselves with pride, exude joy of living, I find them attractive, even if their features or their weight are not "attractive".  I have seen plenty of overweight people who were attractive because I wanted some of what they had that made them so happy, and plenty of "normal" weight people that I wouldn't want to be around.

I mean, yeah, I might notice "hey, they have acne" or "wow, she got too much sun", but it is along the same lines as noting hair color or lenghth - it doesn't really factor into the attractiveness.

lol.. this is like the dumbest thing i've ever read in my life

Why?  Aesthetics is a personal thing.  So is experience.  It's entirely possible that someone could only know fat girls that they consider pretty.  Nowhere in the original post did pixie say that thin girls *weren't* pretty

the fact that she's claiming that fat girls somehow statistically have prettier faces and skinny girls have uglier faces is not moronic?

Perhaps you should re-read the OP- I saw nothing about statistics.  The poster said that has noticed a trend in how she views people, and asked if anyone else had similar views.

How is that moronic?

Don't know about prettier, but I looked younger when the fat was fillling out the wrinkles on my face. Not gonna go back though.

I have to admit that when I am down on my body being overweight, I certainly can't help but smile at my pretty face! And I have seen a lot of big girls with beautiful faces as well! ^_^

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
