Fat loss calculator online
http://www.healthysuccessonline.com/fatlossto ol.shtml
This tool asks you how many calories you ate this week, starting and ending weight, age, calories burned, and then tells you how much it thinks was fat and how much it thinks is water. Check it out -- does anyone know if this is actually correct?

Didn't try it, and you don't lose water, that's only true if you start to drink 3 litres a day for a week, then you will lose a bit weight because of water(your body realizes it can get enough water and doesn't need to store it like there won't be any water the next day).
If you lose weight, afaik, you lose muscle mass and fat.

Very interesting website. I don't know if it's correct or not. I had calculated my own fat loss for last week as 3.7lbs and they said it was 6.4lbs. Now while I would like to believe that I lost more fat than less, I don't know if I can trust that.
The best thing to do is have your body fat % tested on a monthly basis. Some gyms have fairly accurate devices that can tell you or go to a fitness center that does it.
I do have to disagree with vendetta though that your body does lose water weight and that water weight fluctuates daily based on sodium levels, water intake and hormonal factors. You do need to make sure that you are not losing muscle mass though. By checking your body fat % regularly you can determine if this is happening.

You certainly DO 'lose water'. I'm a big 'retainer'. My sodium intake (and other things like a herb I use for moods) make me swell up like crazy! Plus, females always have these issues cuz of hormones and what not. My daughter, 12 and not even started her period yet lamented to me she seems to be swelling up and down with her clothes. SHE doesn't overeat at ALL (thin little darling
). Don' t know about the site, but I know about retaining and losing water! Z
