Anyone else feel faint or dizzy most of the time??

I don't restrict my calories that much, try to eat a healthy diet even when I'm focused on losing weight BUT so often now I get real dizzy spells from only cutting back a few hundred calories or if I miss one meal.

I was wondering if anyone gets the same thing and if they know what to do to feel better? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Laughing

Hi,

I'm not very sure, but I do have a strong feeling that it's because of low carbohydrates, try to up your carbs or have some carb/sugar packed snack the next time you get dizzy .... You also might want to get your sugar tested.

Take Care :)

I might suggest getting your blood sugars checked.

Anything specific trigger the dizzyness?

How many cals are you eating and at what height, weight, age?

I feel the same sometimes. And most of the time it happens when i quickly stand up from my bed after sleep or when i've been sitting for a long time. Does this relate with low sugar or high sugar level? Or with diabetes?
And by sugar packed meal, do u mean added sugar or natural sugar?

Agreed - this info is pretty important.

Your profile says you are an active 18 year old and your posts say you are 5'6" about 150lbs and want to be 100lbs. My first guess is that you are not eating enough because you have a underweight goal, but I can't say for sure without you listing your calorie amount.

I am 29, 5'6.5" and 125-128lbs and I eat no less than 1700 cals a day. I am older than you and rarely active, so you should be eating at least that much. If you are eating a fair amount, you may want to get checked out by a doc and see if you have low iron or issues with your blood sugar or pressure, are dehydrated or other medical issues. For example; I am hypoglycemic so I have to make sure I eat every so often or I will pass out and I have to eat certain things/not eat certain things.

For the most part, it is not normal to deal with consistent dizziness without an explanation.

I have been told I may have subjective vertigo.

Sometimes I feel as if I am moving when I am still/laying in bed (like on the water), have dizziness and a black veil go over my eyes, usually when getting up too fast (I even passed out once but when I was a teen). I had this since I can remember no matter weight (restricting calories or not but more often when I restrict calories) or if I have eaten recently. I had my iron check it is fine (pretty much blood work wise I am top notch).

Do you exercise?? "Cardiovascular exercise makes your heart stronger and a stronger heart has a larger stroke volume. That is, the amount of blood pumped out during each beat is greater, so the heart doesn't have to beat as often. A slow pulse rate is an indication of a strong, healthy heart. However, a slow heart rate can sometimes lead to dizziness when you change position."

hi to everyone who replied

thanks for all your comments sorry it took so long for me to get back to you, my average calorie intake since starting CC is about 1100 and I'm usually under in terms of carbs. Personaly I rarely feel like I under eat- I'm not often very hungry and I still manage to excersies several times a week (gym, yoga ect.) I was really interested to hear about the iron deficiency as my mother is anaemic so next time I go to the doctor I'll get it checked out

You are 18 right? You are undereating, no wonder you're getting dizzy. As an active teen you should be eating at least 2,000 calories per day, probably more. 1,100 is not nearly enough. At this low intake you are not giving your body enough fuel, and you are probably not getting enough vitamins and minerals because you are eating so little.

How tall are you? I'm a bit older than you (26), 5'9'', and pretty active and I've been losing quickly eating 2,000-2,200 calories per day (a bit more than a pound a week).

Eat more! You'll feel better in no time. If not, see a physician.

Agreed.  1200 calories a day is the minimum amount women should have. If you're active you'll need more because you're burning more. Think of it this way: when you need to drive 10 miles, why would you only put enough gas in your car to get you 5?  A car can't drive where you need it to without enough gas, and your body can't operate without enough calories.

Keep in mind also, that the faster you lose weight, the easier it is to gain it back (plus additional pounds).  This is why fad and crash diets rarely work. When you take it slow you form lasting healthy behaviors that make maintenance easier.

Starbucks Menu To Include Calorie Counts
Californians and New Yorkers may take calorie counts for granted. While they've faced calories on menu boards for years, most of the rest of the nation has remained in the dark. Now Starbucks is shining a spotlight on their menu.
