Food Scale

Quote  |  Reply
Hi, everyone. I really enjoy your posts and this site. Does anyone know of a really good, accurate food scale? One that measures by ounces? So many things I eat are for servings of only ounces, and my scale doesn't cut it.

Thanks in advance!!

I like Salter brand myself, I've had mine for over a year without replacing the batteries and it weighs accurately to within 1/8 of an oz. It can be a touch temperamental with really small weights (under 1/2 an oz) but for the most part I am very happy with it. I also understand Escali scales get good reviews while being slightly less pricy than Salter. My only suggestions are to go electronic with a tare function and a button to switch between grams and oz, all of which is pretty much standard on electronic scales. Check out Amazon for some good reviews (it's where I went before I chose mine). Good luck!
I just bought a Salter, electronic scale at Macy's the other day.  It measures in oz and grams.  I agree with p0nda that you need one that you can zero out.  The one I bought is about 2" thick, just sort of a round chrome plate with a screen on the front.  You can put any container on it, zero it and then put your food in.  I had a cheapo plastic one before, and it just doesn't do the job.
we got this one. I love it.

I have a cheapo-plastic salter scale, and it works perfectly.... I've even tested it against my electronic postage scale (which I know is perfectly accurate after testing it against 3 different post offices.)   I've had it for a few years, and I haven't had any issues.... and no batteries to buy or change, and I think the scale cost about $7!
also love my digital salter, makes life lots easier.
I just recently bought Escali Primo Digital Multifunctional Scale $25 from Amazon.com.  I've used it everyday and love it!  Accurate, lightweight and small.  It measures by gram, oz or lb. ^_^
