My current weight is 315, and CC says my healthy weight would be 140.  I think this may be pretty accurate, but I can remember being 160 and looking great, so I'm not sure.  I prefer to think of the whole thing as a size, not as a weight.  I'm a size 26 (US) now, and my goal size is a 12/14 (US).
Hmm, for the most part websites say my ideal weight is between 120-125... but I'm shooting for 130.  That will put me in the healthy weight section according to my BMI.  And, I think that 120 might be TOO thin/small!  I'd still like to keep my curves, thank you very much!  There are some websites that say I should be like 105 - those are the ones that make me fall out of my chair laughing! Haha!

Oh yeah, by the way - I'm 164 right now... so I've got a good 30ish pounds to lose...
My healthy weight would be between 135-140 I believe.

But my GOAL is 130!... which is also considered healthy for my height and age
nikki_08... I agree completely... if I got down to 125 I'd still be at a "healthy" weight but I don't want to lose any curves either!!
Most of the ones I've seen simply take age/sex/height and spit out a number that must be - at best- the average ideal (health-wise) for people with your stats, i.e. a BMI smack in the middle of the "normal weight" range.  Though I think I saw one that told me I should have a BMI around 18 or 19.

Which doesn't sound very healthy, being as I'd probably need some combination of muscle and bone loss to get there.

But, hey, I'm a believer that most of these numbers are much more helpful when aggregated across populations and used for larger studies than they are for individuals.

If extra weight is making your asthma worse, then it's probably healthier to lose it.  But reaching the ideal from some online calculator based on very little personalized information is not the holy grail of health. ;)
Well, to kep my BMI in healthy range I could go from 128-159. BUt being 5'7" and a large frame, I think 159 is better. If I get to 160 I think I would be happy and healthy. Hell, I would be happy with 200 at this point - Im currently 346 - but Im down from 362 when I first started on CC =)
Lol, RIGHT! My curves are what define me~ haha
The site tells me my healthy weight is around 135.  Lowest, was when I use to run cross country and ran sometimes upwards 10-15 miles a day.  I used to be rail skinny and weight around 145.  I doubt I had more than 4-5% body fat back then...I couldn't imagine 135.  My goal is to eventually hit upper 140s then strength train back up to 155..  I like having some muscles and body fat should be around 6-7%.

BMI seems to be pretty on target for women.  For men, I think it might be on target if the guy wants a nonathletic physique.

Life and college has put some pillows on me.  I want to lose around 20lbs:)

" Your current Body Mass Index (BMI) is 21.1.

The "normal" BMI for an adult woman of your height is 18.5 to 24.9. This translates to a healthy weight range of 118 to 159 lbs."

i did my measurements and have 103 of lean muscle/organs/bone

i am loving that my size 7s are loose now this week..even at my "still heavy to me" 135. i used to be super thin when i was younger but i have grown since then so i dont know what to expect.
my opinion..based on this shrinking thing thats happening as i up my calories but stay the same weight...
i think i might get donkey face if i lost more than 10lbs (125) and maybe my veins would stick out too much. my shape has always been there. even when i was thin i didnt have a stick strait bodyshape. i am shooting for the 120-125 thing in hope of shrinking my chest down.(dcups look ok at 150 but really weird to me at 130- 135. and i am really sick of people staring at my chest. i HATE IT.) my body has gone through so much transition as i have lost my poundage.... i cant stick to a number. i just take it as it comes now. i just need to always stay under 145 for my weak knee. it seems to be around 145-150 that it starts to hurt with use. i also have a small frame so the lower weights look better.
(wrist just a little over 5 inches)
According to my stats i need  to weigh between 148 & 183.

I'm a 6' tall man.

My goal is 180.  I think  148 would have me too skinny.  I want to be beefy but not overweight.  Ifà ‚ 170 works out better then s o be it. I'm aiming first for 180 thoug h just to be in the healthy  range first.

I'm 5'10 woman and CC tells me I should weigh 156 lbs.  However, when I've lost the weight before (just got done with another pregnancy) the lowest I ever got was 160 and it was nearly impossible to maintain.  I was skin and bones, so I can't imagine weighing that forever.  So anyhoo, I'm aiming for 167 short term goal and my ultimate 165 to give me a few lbs to flucuate with.  I currently weigh 178.

I think the most helpful thing for me is to remember a time I weighed a certain weight and if I felt healthy and good, then that's my goal.  I want my curves still too, lol!
At 5'4", my healthy range according to this site (20-25 BMI) is 117-145lbs. I currently weigh 114, which is a 19.6 BMI (per C-C). I feel great at this weight and couldn't imagine being 145!!! Some sites say a healthy range for me is 105-140ish. I am cool right now, but could lose more and feel/look healthy.

Iam 5'8 and target is 148 but I will aim for 154 which was what ww said when I attended the classes. Iam 200 but lost 24 since Jan another 50 to go but at last I feel in control.
The calculators tell me to aim for 119...which is pretty accurate for me. When I was between 115-118 I felt and looked my best..when I fell down to 108, I was skinny..but didn't look healthy...I don't want to do that. I don't like 'skinny' as a goal. blech..I'll go for fit and healthy.
In my entire life I've never been in a healthy weight range.  Calculators say 120-149 so my goal weight is 140.  I guess I'll know if I need to not lose as much or to lose a little more once I get near that number...a long, long, long time from now.  =)
me, on the contrary, i was in the healthy weight range my whole life and still am, but i have lots of flab, so i'd love to shed some and reshape my body, i think my ideal wight would be at the low end of my healthy bmi, i could never go below that, soo i' aiming at 120-125 lbs, am at 137
Where on CC does it tell you how to find that?

My BMI is 23.3 and I am around 140 lbs.  ON other sites it says my healthy weight should be 127-141.  This seems very correct.  I would just like to be at the low end, rather than the high end.

BUT - I think that healthy weight indicators don't always take into consideration our muscle.  I have always been much heavier than friends, that look a whole lot bigger than me, because of my muscular legs...so who knows?
My "goal" weight according to various sources, is 118-128.  I am 5'2" with a large frame, and currently weigh 174 lbs.  The thinnest I have ever been was in high school, at 124-135, while swimming competitively 4-6 hours a day and eating about 1300 calories (our coach had a real thing about being thin helping you be fast in the water).  After my second baby was born I went on WW.  Since I was nursing, I had to have a Dr.'s permission to join.  My doctor, embarrassingly enough said, "Holly, I have had my hands inside your pelvis and there is no way on earth you will ever be able to maintain a weight as low as they want"  He encouraged me to shoot for a weight that was "reasonable" in my own opinion.  My BMI will never be in the healthy range because I am unwilling to be hungry for the rest of my life.  I feel that if can be active with my kids, my health is good, and I feel good about my body that is how I should gauge my weight.  I think the BMI is an okay tool, but not one that I choose to use.

Hollymama
I dont think those things work as well as they should.  I have a small body frame and weigh 180 and I am 6'2 or 6'3 therefore I am overweight but it says my Body mass index is fine.
wow..that calculator listed calculates really low..it says I should be 105. I'd look downright sick that small! *lol*
