I'm not eating any excess calories. (under 1300) I'm trying to walk everyday but I've been really busy. I don't take in that much sodium. Maybe 700mg tops. I don't eat any junk food or sweets. It's not my time of the month. What's going on???? Normally I would go up 2 pounds and back down in a few days. But now it just keeps going up and I'm honestly scared to eat anymore. I've gone up 5 pounds since Sunday. I drink a lot during the day too.

What should I do?

What kind of foods are you eating to reach your caloric intake? If you're not getting a balanced diet (even if you're not eating junk food, you could still be eating incorrectly), that could be the problem. And how long have you been eating the same number of calories for? Maybe your metabolism is adjusted to your current food intake. I would try to mix up your exercising or exercise more frequently to see if that helps.

I eat vegges, some berries, lean meats and nuts. (unsalted)

I don't get it. Should I not eat for a while? Or will that make it worse? I keep lowering my calories but it doesn't help.  And I can't seem to get all that much exercise. No time :(.

Sorry to play 20 questions.

Thanks.

What are your stats?

What do you drink during the day?

If you keep lowering your calories, that is not going to help any.  Post your stats for everyone.  It sounds like maybe you're making your body go into starvation mode by not eating enough...

First of all YOU ROCK!!!!  Congratulations on the loss and maintenance!  I'm sure you have more answers then most of us.

I find I gain weight when I ovulate as well as TTOM....  Maybe you do to have a a high cal day here and there to trick your body.  I don't know how long you've been maintaining but your calorie count seems low to me.  Maybe if you zig zag your calories for a while it will shake up your metabolism.  for now I wouldn't eat any less but I'd try harder to get some exercise in just to burn a little more.

You know it is not possible to gain 5lbs of fat in that short amount of time unless you were seriously packing away the Twinkies. Stay strong.

Yea to gain 5 pounds in 4-5 days, is ALMOT impossible, unless you eat about 6000 or so calories a day. As leanne said, stay strong!

I'm 5'7ish and I (was) 126 pounds. Now it's up to 131.

I usually get 1100 calories or less a day. I know it's bad but I'm afraid to up them. Because it's like..if I'm gaining at 1100, I can only imagine what would happen if I had 1500 or so lol.

Thanks for the help. Any answers are greatly appretiated. Because I'm kinda flippin out this morning. :/

Thanks again.

P.S thanks leanne! It's been a constant battle, I can tell you that lol. But, I love eating this food now. Junk food is gross. :)
Maybe I missed it, but how old are you?

And I just looked at your profile, your before and after picture is amazing maiden. Much congratz to you :)

Thank you mediar :). I appretiate it. It's so frustrating though. :(

I'm 18.
At 18, your body is still growing.  You are gaining skelton mass, which is important.  You will notice when women reach the age of 25 that their bone structure is different from when they were 18 and much different from when they were 15.  It is part of the growing process.

If you are consuming 1500 calories per day of balanced, healthy foods, you are doing a great favour to your body.  Your bones need this nutrition at this time in your life.  When, if, you decide to have babies, they will take a lot of the calcium out of your body.  This may or may not be replaced by your body, depending on your nutrition.

You also have to protect yourself from Ostoprosis.  My grandma had this and it is not good.  Her eating habits were not the best and she paid for it.

Think about how healthy you want to be at the age of 40/50/60/70/80.  My grandma was 76 when she passed and the last five year of her life we were always afraid that she would fall and break something.

At 18, I know that you are not worried about being the age 70, at 43, it is a major concern for me.
you gotta get some cardio in at least once a week or weight lifting because it seems your metabolism is slowing down

Mmm do you eat enough Fiber? What i been doing for two weeks now is for lunch i have 2 cups of non fat milk with 2 packets of carnation instant breakfast no sugar added and that fills me up til dinner time. Since i started two weeks ago today, i lost 9 lbs. It has 4 grams of fiber per packet, because i was eating only like 1200 calories a day i had issues going number 2 so with this shake once a day instead of lunch i have been going regularly and lost weight. You may give it a try see how it works out for u.

Good luck.

Curious question, you lost 175 lbs since you been on this site???

Congratulations. :)

I was doing a diet of around 1250 calories for 6 weeks.  One week I lost 5.5 lbs but every other week I gained or maintained.  This week I have uped my calories to around 1800 and I have lost 2.5 lbs since Monday.  It is hard to say without knowing your entire story, but maybe you aren't getting enough calories.  I think my body was thinking it was being starved, even though I ate 6 times a day and never felt like I was depriving myself.  I know it is scary to up your calories, but sometimes it really is the best thing!

Good Luck~

Right there is your problem.  Your body is in starvation mode and hanging on to everything you eat.

If you are exercising on top of your regular burn you are definitely not eating enough.

For the past couple of years, due to health problems, I was only eating about 700-800 calories per day and steadily gaining.  Since coming on here I'm making sure I'm at least keeping it at 1200.  And, lo and behold, the weight is coming off.

You are NOT eating enough calories.

Agreed! Your before and afters are absolutely astounding! You look amazing :)

We're the same height so I have to say I'm impressed if you ever get to 126 and remain healthy.  This website lists that as underweight, though I've seen other calculators that call it healthy.  That calculator, btw, said the ideal weight is 140.8.  Personally, when I drop below 129 my immune system ceases to function.

I'm only 8 lbs heavier than you at the moment, my sedentary burn is 1710 and I'm almost 10 years older than you so I need less.  Eat more.  If you start going above 140, then maybe think about cutting back on the calories again.

Good job on losing the weight, but there is a time to STOP trying to lose.  Enjoy that you've reached that moment and have a pizza.

I agree with those who said you could be in starvation mode. I was eating maintenance for 3 months and found I'd gained 30 pounds during that period. I truly believe, since I was recovering from an eating disorder, that my body was trying to hold onto everything it got and my metabolism was damaged. [And I was eating MORE than 1100 during my ED even!] I suggest you up your calories to what your maintenance should be [around 1800-2000] until your weight levels off or you lose weight. It helped me! I wish you the best of luck darling!

I got online because i have the same problem!  I'm under 1500 a day..but I'm 49 and I'm active!!  I know I should NOT lose weight if I'm in a starvation mode, but to gain?  It just doesn't make sense!  I have been drinking 54 oz of water a day the last couple days..and nothing!  just another pound a day..I'm freaking out also.

I am freaking here TOO!!!!  I am gaining almost a pound a day.  I went to the doctor and my bp was so high they sent me to the ER.  Then, a week later, when I went back, I had gained 5 pounds. I have NEVER had a weight problem til now.  And I am not eating any different.  I stay away from breads and cookies and cakes and stuff.  I am really scared.
