Why did I gain 2 pounds?

Quote  |  Reply

I started a healthy lifestyle again in the beginning of Junuary r and lost 17 pounds. This week though, I gained 2 of those pounds back and I'm confused as to why. I usually eat 1500-1800 calories a day, sometimes I go up to 2,000 if I'm hungry, but i never go significantly over that. I exercise for at least 30 minutes 4 or 5 times a week. Am i eat too much? I don't want to put all 15 pounds back on and after coming off a crash diet, its scary to think about. I dont want to become obsessive again and start restricting, but i dont want to gain weight.

Just curious, do you have your period, or are you about to? I notice 2-4 extra pounds from period bloating the week before and half way into it. Consistently! I don't even bother weighing myself that week.

Make sure you keep your water intake up to help out bloating issues :) We all fluctuate from time to time, especially women.

Yes I am due for my period this week. I didn't even think of that!

Usually 2-4 lb fluctuations when you have been keeping to your cals and exercising are based on water/food weight issues and have nothing to do with "true" weight gain.  Check your logs for any excess sodium, watch monthly cycles and usually you will find a connection.  Just keep counting and exercising and it will go back down and probably some extra with it :)

Yep! My thoughts exactly.
