Gain weigh eating 1,900 calories in one day

Will I gain weight if I eat 1,900 calories? I sorta had a "stuff your face cause your stressed" day and I realized, I've eaten around 1900 calories today! Will I gain weight, or will I just stay the same, since it's only a day. Should I reduce my calories tomorrow? I also have a very slow metabolism so will that make me gain weight because of today? I'm still hungry but I can't eat anymore!! I usually eat around 1,300 to 1,400 and I can't lose weight. Help

If you have a "slow metabolism", eating more will only help fix it.  Eating 1900 calories today was probably one of the best things you could do for your metabolism.

Don't cut your calories more tomorrow, or your body will start going into a binge-starve process, which is absolutely the best way to gain fat.  It slows your metabolism even further.

It may be that you need to be eating more every day, rather than just today.  If your metabolism is slow, don't cater to it, fix it!  I was obese on less than 1200 calories a day, now I'm losing weight at 1600-1800 calories a day - all because I learned to eat more, get moving, and fix my metabolism for the better.

Are you sure you don't mean "fast metabolism" where you can eat and not gain a pound? Because eating that much might put a few pounds on me! I actually want to lose a lot of weight, preferably 20 pounds. Also, I'm very muscular (15" calves) and bmi of 24. Just info I'd like to put out.

You need about a 500 cal deficit for a healthy weightloss. That's including exercise. So without knowing your stats the situation sounds as if you are in a starvation mode. Veeeeery common problem. Read through a couple of other recent threads. Figure out your actual calorie demand (see Tools), add your exercise and subtract 500 cal. Eating on maintenance level (0 deficit) or even more can break a plateau.

First of all, any one day of overeating isn't ever going to make you gain actual fat, unless you manage to eat about 5500 calories in one day (harder than you'd think) and then eat at or above your maintenance level for several days/weeks following.

Second, 1900 a day probably wouldn't make most people gain weight. That's a low maintenance or small-deficit number for anyone who isn't tiny and sedentary.

1300-1400 isn't enough for most people. You're probably not eating enough, which is teaching your body that it needs to hold onto everything you put into it, which is why you're not losing weight. How tall are you, and what's your weight? How much do you exercise?

If you have a slow metabolism, eating more will fix it and give you a faster one.  That's what I mean :)  You'll gain a little bit of weight at first as your body adjusts, and then your metabolism will increase and you'll be able to lose weight much more easily.

Are you sure if I eat more, I'll lose weight. For the past 6-7 days, I've been eating 1700 calories and I've been slowly gaining. I exercise about 3 times a week (or whatever I can fit in my very busy sched.) and I'm afraid that you might say I'll gain a little bit of weight, but then I can't lose it. My stomach feels bloated and I feel as f I'm gaining more fat in my mid region.

Like others have said, anything anyone says till you give us more information about yourself is nothing more than a generalization/guess. Age, height, weight, and activity level are needed for anyone to give you any real, meaningful, advice.

Yes, I am sure.  As I said, it will take a little time for your body to adjust, and in that time you'll put on a little weight - but most of that will be water, and food in your intestines.

It takes 3500 calories to create a pound of fat.  At 1700 calories a day, when your BMR is likely higher than that (unless you're 65, five feet tall, and near-bedbound, I can almost guarantee it's higher than that) it will be impossible for you to gain any significant fat stores.  

As dwat stated, if you give us some specific information (age/weight/height, basic job duties, amount and type of exercise) we can give you a specific calorie target based on your personal needs.

Usually eat around 1500 calories, usually to the Y on Tuesday and Thursdays. I'll occasionally go walking around the block, but homework can be a pain.. I'm also very muscular, so I look bigger than most people
36D bust, 30 inch waist, 38 inch hips, 15 inch calves (darn genetics :P)

The 1500 cal she takes seems to very reasonable in that light - maybe a tiny bit on the low site on more active days but certainly not in any danger zone with her stats.

Chicka, originally you said, you'd be eating 1300 - 1400 cal. That would be recommended if you would be truly sedentary like an office slug - but with school and stuff I don't think that is you even when you don't go to the Y or walk. When you eat 1900 cal there is absolutely no harm done. You'd be close to your maintenance level and would actually still lose weight if you keep up some for of exercise. Pay attention though that your actual calorie deficit does not exeed much the 500 cal guideline. That can easily happen if you exercise more days in the week. With your stats you can easily eat a little more and still lose weight. How are the 1500 cal working for you ? Do you eat them as a result of a balanced diet ?

OP, you're of a healthy weight (albiet a little high healthy, but there's nothing wrong with that.)  According to my calculations, you burn about 2300 calories a day before exercising.  1500 cals/day is undereating for your BMR.  If you absolutely, positively MUST lose weight (and being muscular, I should think you're perfect where you are!) you want a small deficit, since you're already at a healthy weight.  I'd say eat 1900-2000 calories a day, honestly.
