I would like to see pics of girls/women who are 5'7-5'8 medium frame and that weigh 120-130lbs

right now I am 175 and I am around 5'7 or maybe a little taller. i also have broad shoulders. i just want to get down to 130lbs to see if my shoulders will look smaller. i also carry more weight at the top which may be why my shoulderrs look wide. i have never been really thin. all of my life i have been thick (I am 21 yrs old) so maybe i will look less like an amazon if i got down to 130lbs. i feel huge next to other girls who are shorter, smaller or have a very delicate frame and upperbody

btw I have a large hourglass figure

If you are built like me, which it sounds like you are, you will look emaciated at 120.  I am 5'7" with broad shoulders and big hips (and a full C cup).  The lightest I have been as an adult (over 20) is 128 and you could see my hipbones, almost all of my ribs, and most of my vertebrae (and I was down to an A cup).  AND, my shoulders still looked really broad.

If I were you, I would shoot for the top of your healthy BMI range (probably 160 or so) and see how you feel about it.

I also felt like an "amazon" when I was younger, but now I feel like an attractive, curvy woman.  If you wanna see some good "amazon" role models, google Christina Hendricks.  She's 5'7" or 5'8" with curves, and is the most attractive woman in hollywood, as far as I'm concerned.

Well I am 5'9" and in high school became anorexic and weight 124lbs.  VERY THIN!!! I am big boned so I looked horrible.  I wore a size three but I could see many of my bones and went from a D cup to a B.  I had bruises on my knees due to them banging together at night.  Had to sleep with a pillow between then.  Thankfully I am better now and much heavier!!!!!!!! Overweight actually and have a goal of 180.  So for me it was too thin and I looked horrible.  I would never want to be that way again.  They told me if I lost anymore I was going to be hospitalized.

I did too, at 175, but at 160, my arms are 1.5 inches smaller.

I'm just saying that 120-130 is probably WAY too small for your frame, which is good news, since you have a lot less time to get to a healthy weight.

Best of luck!

I've been 160 lbs and I do look slim. but i still have lovehandles on the side and my arms IMO still look too fat and wide. i don't feel comfortable with my shoulders and arms and I even start to wear shirts with no hoody or jacket until i get down to 140-148 lbs. my arms and shoulders look smaller and I look thin and normal. I'm thinking at 130, my upperbody and arms would look even slimmer and better.

wow. i am so glad you gained the weight. your knees were bruising at night because you were so small. yikes!!! that sounds so scary. I am glad you are healthy now

wintermoore--If you have a medium frame and broad shoulders, that's not going to change by losing even more weight. Your shoulders will not get smaller. Weight loss cannot change your bone structure. In fact, losing so much weight will probably make your shoulders look even bigger in comparison. Also, if you have a medium frame you should not be shooting for the very bottom of a healthy BMI for your height. If you look great and thin at 140-150, why not shoot for that range again rather than 120-130? Thinner doesn't always mean better. Good luck.

::sigh:: i don't know what to do then

Accept your body the way it is. Everyone has things they don't like about their body, and 99% of the time, no one else notices.

This can give you an idea.

But, as has been said, at that size you'd be sickly.

i like this size. i hope i look like that

No, don't. Seriously.

Don't do that to yourself. Spend some time in the Weight Gain forums, checking out the horribly sad stories from girls who made the mistake you are about to make right now. You don't want to become severely underweight.

It is incredibly damaging to your body, your health, everything in your life. You risk death. There is nothing better about being more thin. If you're healthy, who cares what size you are?

Weight loss is dangerous if you let it be.

Focus on eating right, exercising, and taking care of yourself. But in moderation. Enjoy your life. Find something else to occupy your time. Talk about how you are feeling with your friends and family. If they're making you feel insecure about yourself, tell them! Tell them that a low, low weight is unrealistic.

Every advertisement you see contains digital manipulation to make the people look absolutely perfect. A lot of the time, they are made to be unrealistically skinny - as in, "bone structures do not work that way" skinny.

You need some fat on you to survive. Even the fittest, most active, gorgeous women have at least 15% body fat. 15%! Think about that for a minute. That's 15 pounds of fat on a 100-pound person, or 30 pounds for a 200-pound person. Yes, it's gross, but it's also necessary and unavoidable. Just like pooping.

Look in the mirror and find what you LIKE. Surround yourself with people who tell you you're beautiful. But don't AIM to be underweight. PLEASE.

Holy crap, 'curves' is right! Are those things real?

I wanted to add that there used to be a model named Twiggy. I believe it is an appropriate name since she did look like a twig. Someone would bump into her and she'd SNAP like a twig. Even the military has come to terms that 130 lbs is too little for someone who is 2 whole inches shorter than you. The Army now has a range of 130-150 lbs for a 5'5", med build woman...when she's 18 and still has a higher metabolism. I would say get down to where you have muscle definition on your abs, and not a number.

I'm 5'8" and a couple years ago I was down to 125-127 pound range.  My boyfriend would count the ribs in my back at night and get worried.  you could see the ribs under my collarbone and i went down from  c-cup to an a.  I found a "new" bone in my hip one night that I never noticed before and in pictures you can see all the tendons in my arms.  Kind of like the creepy corpses at "body world".  I wouldn't recommend.

I was trying to find out the same thing.  The lowest healthy weight for our height is 122.  I then did the other measurements, measured my body fat, my wrist size, etc and found that I have about 120 pounds of lean body mass which means that without achieving 0% fat (impossible and not appealing) or losing some muscle (a dumb idea), 140 is the right number for me.  Your frame is smaller but you should figure out your body fat - come up with your lean body mass number and add a reasonable fat percentage to that to come up with your number.

Here's a woman that's medium frame at ~130 pounds and 5'7"

5'7" 120

Obviously, body composition is more of a factor than weight.

You need to have a good amount of muscle to look goo at 120-130 at 5'7". At that height, you'd have to be near fitness model level of fitness. You'd probably have to be around 16-20% bf.  It's a good goal but probably hard to attain for most females.  Many females look good in the 20-25% bf range.

To reach 20-25% you'll probably need to lose around 25-30 pounds. Just and estimate, you may need to lose more or less depending on your current lean mass and if you lift weights or not. Some women look good at even higher %, so you just need to decide when you are happy with the way you look. Generally speaking, most women should look fit between 20-25%.

Wow we sound a bit like twins.... I'm 20 years old, 170, 5'7" with a large, broad shouldered frame with obnoxious lovehandles that drive me to tears at times. Weird.

Anyway just to give you an idea, a little over a year ago I was losing weight and at my lowest got to 145-147 lbs. At the time I was unhappy and wanted to go lower but I've looked back at pictures and I looked perfect for my size.

Now things are a bit different and I'd kill to go back to 150 ish which used to be my "highest" stable weight. But I guess giving up and enjoying yourself when you study in Italy for four months will do that to you.

yvtrish... how do you measure your body fat? I'd love to figure out what my "lean body mass" should be without paying for someone to pinch my fat and tell me how gross I am. :)
