What is a good dress size for 5'8" women???

Quote  |  Reply

Ok, so I'm 5'8" and range from 130-135 lbs.  At my smallest I was 127 lbs. I wear about a size 6 now and I was feeling really discouraged when I couldn't wear size 4 after I mysteriously gained some weight.  I have no idea what other women my height weigh or what size they wear.  I have nothing to compare myself to except for the BMI meter and that dosn't exactly give you an image you can see.

I was having a really hard time maintaining 127 lbs. and felt tired all the time so I was going to gain 5 lbs. and ended up gaining 10! UGH!

If you are 5'8", what size do you wear?  What do you want to be?

I'm not 5'8, but I think I can give you some advice based on my experience. I'm female, 30, and 5'5. Honestly, size 6 is really the best size - and I'll be happy if I can get back down to a size 8... It depends on your body type, large frame, curvy or straight, etc. I'm pretty curvy but when I was in a size 4 I didn't really have any curves, or much sex appeal or energy... but when I got up to a size 6 and 8, I had nice curves and looked good - you just have to keep those curves toned!

For 5'8, I think 130-135 is actually the best weight for you... if you're not that happy with the appearance for any reason, try just toning for firmness and that should help. I'm currently 137 at 5'5, and that is a bit much - but if I had those extra three inches I'd be ok. I'm shooting for between 125 and 127 personally... I'd say just work on toning up and you should be fine. Another thought for you... my best friend is 6'1, and when she was a size 6 she looked like a skeleton - she had to get up to a size 8 before she got any curves and started looking good...

i'm 5'8'' and i'm 122 lbs, and i'm a size 2-4 depending on the place- usually a two though. but sometimes those even run really big.

but then again i'm 13....so i think where you are is a great size.
well i'm 5'9" and a six. i feel really good right now. i weigh 150 which probably seems a little high but i'm definitely VERY muscular. i think size 4/6 looks really good on most people unless you are very tiny or large-framed

I'm 5'8" and, when I was young and thin, 130-135 lbs and size 8/10 (a medium in most clothing lines) was as small as I ever wanted to be.  Any smaller and my curves diminished to the point that my figure became boyish--straight hips, especially.  And I have long arms and legs that got quite thin if I weighed any less, which also made finding clothes to fit difficult.  I wouldn't want to be less than a medium at my height.  My daughter is 5'5" and looks great at a size six, slender but curvy.  And, it may sound odd, but, how large a woman's head is can make a difference, too.  An average-to-large-sized head for a 5'8" woman can start to look kind of bulbous and top-heavy if she's too small through the upper body.  It's not a good look.
I am 5'7" and I weigh 133.  I wear a size 6 in most clothing and I find that is a good size.  Some clothing lines run smaller and I can wear a size 4, but honestly, how you look or what size you wear is not the most important consideration.  Being healthy is!  I believe that for your height and weight that a size 6 is perfect.  Any smaller would be too small in my opinion.

I'm an inch shorter than you (5'7") and weigh 154.  I am finally beginning to fit into 8s again.  My goal is to be a "solid" 8--a 6 would be nice, but I'm not sure if I have the drive for that. :)
I'm 5'8"

I wear a 14 now (ugh) but am perfectly happy at a 10. An 8 would be nice too....

At 150lbs, I'm a 10.
Well I am currently 170 pounds at 5'8 with 2 kids and 2 c-sections behind me.  I am currently 37 and not happy with my weight, but I have set my mind to working hard to get back to that size 6.

I look back to pre-kids and see that I was like you at 5'8, 130-135 pounds and a size 6 for many, many years.  Photographs of me prior to that when I was much younger and thinner do not look good at all.  I look more like a kid and much less like a woman.  So if I had a magic lamp, my wish would be to have your weight again.  You don't know it, but with your height and weight you are the ideal size.  Thin, but not "bone-skinny".  Tall, but not an "amazonian giant" and not a "short pip-squeak" either.

Before I used to allow myself an extra 5 pound leeway but always staying in the range of my size 6.  At that time, everything and every style looked great on me...so rejoice!  And know that I am envious of you.  Wish me luck!
Good luck to you!!! I've had three kids, working on #4 and it's always a battle to get back into shape - but it's soooo worth it!  :)
I'm 5'8", 143lbs.  I'm a size 8/10, some of my old size 6's fit but are still a tad too tight.  My goal is 135 but I'm more about my measurements than how many pounds I weigh.

I am 5'8 and 22 years old. I vary dramatically from about 130-155. I am 145 now. I feel my very best around 135. I am a size 8-12. Even at my thinnest I am an 8. I am very curvy. I get the most compliments in the 135-145lb range. :) Hope this helps!
