good shape body, fat face

Quote  |  Reply

Hello all,
i am a 27 year old man, i am in a good shape but always get remarks from people about having fat on my chin and cheeks.
i've read a lot about this lately, most of the people having this problem are teenagers... in my case it's different, 5 years ago my face wasn't like that, during the last couple of years i gained a little bit of weight (5-6 kilos) but after a hard work at the gym this year i was able to lose most of it. But my face still looks fat.
Does anybody know how to solve this problem ? could it be something not related to fat (allergies or anything else) ?

Tony.

I have the same problem... genetics I suppose. I would say try eating some anti-inflammatory stuff like berries but I doubt it would really help all that much. I honestly think I stored fat in my cheeks and now I'm stuck with it.

thanks for your answer, but i am not convinced that it is genetics beacause it wasn't like that before :S

ahhh I have the same problem and I hate it! I'm an 18 year old girl though..so I'm hoping it'll come off in a couple of years as baby fat. The best you can do is to keep losing until it comes off everywhere, maybe it's just stubborn and that's the last place you'll lose. That's weird that it wasn't like that before :s but I guess as we age, things get different. But keep pushing because it'll have to come off eventually..

good luck!

This is by far what I am most insecure with in regards to my body, the fat on my cheeks.  I developed an eating disorder to try and get rid of it and still no luck.  I don't know what to tell you man, I am still young, so not in the same boat as you, but I hear that it is baby fat and it will come off in your 20's.  But if you gain it back, it is some of the most stubborn fat to lose.  But it really annoys the piss out of me.

sorry I don't have any good advice, but that your not alone...

I have a round tomato like head, but I've had it forever...so it's definitely genetics. I don't mind it all that much though..haha.

Have you started any new medications that might make you swell up? That was my first thought.

It is still possible that it could be genetics. Some charactoristics that we are genetically predisposed to have don't appear untill later in life. For example, if type 2 diabetes runs in someones family, they are genetically predisposed to it but this doesn't garauntee that it will occur right away.

hormone change?  maybe?

I honestly don't know if men experiance hormone changes randomly, but might be something to look into.  For women it does some pretty crazy things and I know a couple women who have gotten pregnant and after that, one went from horrible allergies to no allergies and another went from curly hair to straight hair.  Obviously pregnancy is a big change to the body that can mess with hormones, not sure what could or would do that to men.

My advice... the sooner you accept it the sooner you will be happy. I have the same problem. I could be 20 lbs underweight and I would still have a round, chubby face. The plus side.. it makes you look younger! People always underestimate my age. Maybe that will come in handy 30 years from now.  :)

Word.  I know I'm not "that old", but I'm 24 and everytime I get carded, I can't help but to ask the bartender how old they think I am before handing over my ID.  You can tell when they're carding you because they're not sure and when they do it because they're following orders.  It's always 15-18.  A coworker is going on 40 and I would never in my life guess she's more than 28-32.  She said she always had the baby face.  So....here's that to look forward to!

me too. even back last year when I was thin and in shape i still had my chubby cheeks. I've always been ok with them though because I think they make me look young and cute, but the other day I saw this girl with a perfectly chiseled tight and beautiful face and i was sooooo jealous because she looked so sophisticated and lovely, so I understand your pain.

And me! Getting carded into your 30s is pretty cool though, happens to me quite often still, and your face will thin as you get older so you really do have that to look forward to. But yeah, I feel your pain, OP & thin_girl, it's kind of annoying isnt it?!

I checked out your gallery.

You are a very handsome man.  Who ever is teasing you about "fat cheeks" is has to be envious of you and can find no other fault in you to make themselves feel better.

Seriously - your "fat cheeks" are no problem that any sane person would ever consider a fault or notice.

You mention that you recently lost weight.  I rather suspect that your face will just be the last place you lose fat from.  It will go eventually.  But in the mean time realize that you look great no matter what the critics say.

Well this was already quoted several times, but it truely is the best advice.  I do look much younger than I am, probably because of my face...  Way to look at the glass half full ;)
