Greek Yogurt
I bought some of that fat free greek yogurt and it was very sour, reminded me of sour cream. I was wondering if you are suppose to eat it plain, with fresh fruit like you would regular yogurt or do you add it to tacos, etc like you would sour cream? How do you guys enjoy your greek yogurt????
I treat it like plain yogurt. Add honey and some fresh fruit.
I use it like sour cream, putting it in tomato soup.
For breakfast or a protein boost I add wheat germ and either vanilla syrup or maple syrup. I don't believe in fake sugars/sweeteners. This is my favorite way to eat it.
One time I add a juice concentrate and vanilla syrup.
Oikos brand has flavored ones as well, vanilla, honey and blueberry
Yummy

If it's Fage, I recommend eating the kind that includes fruit on the side. Not only is it yummy but it's fairly healthy! (I think the fat is a little high but everything else has similar nutritional facts to yogurt.)
Fage 0% is soooo good with Agave Nectar 2 teaspoons which is a sweetner in Florida and has a lower glycemic index than honey or maple syrup. Then I add fresh blueberries, raspberries and cut strawberries into slices and mix it all together. (you could add real vanilla extract as well) Apple cinn and raisin w/ vanilla would be good too! I also add vegan vanilla rice protein for extra protein if I'm strength training.
OMG I love fat free greek yogurt!!... but it's too expensive so I settle for regular fat free yogurt :(
I add 15g of sliced almonds and 10g natural honey to 150g yogurt and it's soooo good!! I have it every evening after dinner as a dessert!
semi-freeze it, and throw in honey granola! xD
Last night I tried something new, so I thought I would recommend that too.
I normally eat 0% Fage as dessert with cut up fruit in it (strawberries, blueberries, apples, blackberries, cherries, whatever I have in the house).
Well, last night I decided to do an experiment, and added a teaspoon of wheat germ to it. I was kinda' scared, never having used wheat germ before.
Let me tell you. TASTY. Added even more texture to an already thick and creamy treat. It also added a bit of nuttiness, which was great with the fruit. I would highly recommend it.
I find that greek yogurt is much thicker than other kinds. I like to cook with it. I have a recipe that I found on Epicurious that is a fave in the warmer weather. Take a pork tenderloin and butterfly and season it with salt/pepper. Mix up the greek yogurt, some cumin powder, salt, pepper and a tablespoon of olive oil. In separate bowl mix some canned chipotle peppers (I puree mine first with a stick blender) and smear a couple of tablespoons of the chipotle puree onto the butterflied pork. Roll up the tenderloin lengthwise so it looks whole again. I often tie it up with kitchen twine, it'll hold together better on the grill. Brush the yogurt/cumin mixture over the whole rolled tenderloin and let it sit at room temp. for about 10-15 min. You can refrigerate it too, for longer, maybe 20 min. This is to marinate it and let the flavors mix. Heat your grill (I use gas) and grill it until a meat thermometer says it's done. Cut the string off and slice it into 1" slices. It's quite spicy and totally delish. I serve it with guacamole on the side. Yum!
Oooh, that sounds great! I know that sounds like something my husband will like.
I'll have to try it this weekend (I happen to have a pork tenderloin in my freezer currently so it is nice to try something new...we do this pork mojo that is AWESOME, but the loins are so big, maybe we can do one of each!)
hafarrell620, if you live near a Trader Joe's, they sell Fage brand and their own brand which is apparently the same stuff. That's what I buy. I get 0% fat Greek yoghurt. Cheap.
I like to add honey to it and mix it up. The sweet and sticky marries well with the smooth and creamy.
I love Greek yogurt and eat it plain while dreaming of the blue Agean Sea.
I do something similar with lamb but it's good on pork and even those giant turkey breasts. Chop up rosemary, thyme, oreagano, basil, and majoram. Adjust the mix until you like it. Add to the greek yogurt.
Slather the item in question down with the yogurt mix.
If you really want to be fancy for the turkey stuffing, toss a handful of walnuts or almonds into it. Pack that into the cavity on the breast.
Coat the whole thing with some more herbs and maybe some crushed black pepper.
Broil or grill until done.

I eat my Fage 0% with a little Splenda and cinnamon mixed into it...or I just eat it plain. Since I rarely (very rarely) use artificial sweetners, I allow myself the cinnamon Fage (fe-yah!) mix about once a week. So good.
Greek yogurt is pretty good. I mix it with sour cream and throw it on a few strips of bacon for kicks. If you're in the mood for the sweet stuff, it's great with honey, or if you mix it with a shot of Bailey's Irish Cream. Sweet and drunk is usually the better way to go for me!
