Help with calories in Chili's menu

Quote  |  Reply
Ok, last night I went Chili's for dinner...I had the steak quesadilla & 2 strawberry margaritas. I found the cals for the quesadilla dinner, but the dinner comes with rice & blackbeans, which I did not eat. It lists the meal as 1970 cals (I know a lot! but it was my spurge day lol), so Im not sure if I should just count the whole 1970 or figure out some way to subtract the rice & beans (i dont know serving sizes or what the rice was made with).

Also, I couldnt find the cals in the margaritas...i looked through different sites and came up with about 600 each. That sounds like a lot to me. Does this sound about right to anyone else?

I would appreciate any help! Thanks!

Margaritas are outrageously high in cals.  I quit drinking them completely and they were a family favorite.  I now only drink vodka with crystal light.
Thanks Willow! Im going to keep it at 1970 I guess, because I did use sour cream...I think that should just about even it out. At least I hope =)

I sure do wish they would list their margaritas...I know they are high, but I also know how I am and it will bug the crap outta me unless I know the exact cal count LOL

I dont normally drink those because I know they are high in cals (just didnt think 600 for each high)...heck, I even went out Saturday night and just drank diet coke instead of my usual Capt & Coke.
those slushy mango strawberry margaritas are to die for. i am in love with them. are those 600 cal too?
This gives you a rough average to base on:

Frozen margarita (2 ounces tequila, 4.5 ounces Jose Cuervo margarita mix, salt): 27 carb grams, 246 calories.
Margarita on the rocks (1.5 ounces tequila, 1 ounce Triple Sec, 1 ounce fresh lime juice): 8 carb grams, 182 calories.
Thanks Animal...now add the strawberry to that...lol.

So maybe 600 for each is a little too high? (hope so hope so!)
Here's another helpful site... 600 seems way too high!

Im so confused! I dont want to count too few cals for it, and of course at the same time I dont want to count too many. Ive been looking all over and get seevral different answers...ranging from around 200 to 600.

How many cals would you count for this fellow cc'ers??
Try to break it down by ingredients.  I think for a regular margarita 280 is about right, but add a little for strawberries, and you're probably at about 300.

Here's the recipe for Chili's Presidente Margarita:  1 1/4 oz Sauza Commemorativo Tequila (80 cals), 1/2 oz Presidente Brandy (35 cals), 1/2 oz Cointreau (50 cals), 4 oz Sour Mix (108), Splash of Lime Juice (5 cals) TOTAL Cals 278.

Add about 5 medium fresh strawberries (?) for 20 more cals.

(Calories courtesy of calorieking.com and recipe courtesy of aaa-recipes.com)

I'd go with 600 cals for 2 Strawberry Margaritas.
I agree with tracker - for 2 margaritas, use 600 cals (300 each).  If the daily caloric total is much above what you usually do, then the 20 or so (possible) over-averaged calories is not going to make much of a difference.

I did find these links (couldn't remember if you said it was a regular margarita or frozen, so listing both - nutritional info is towards bottom of page, after the comments section):

Regular Strawberry Margarita
Frozen Strawberry Margarita

They say the calories are about 168ish cals for 1, so I don't know - maybe average 200 cals per drink?  Your call!

Thanks!

okay, you all are forgetting.. those strawberries arent fresh strawberries... I used to work at Chilis, and it was made of a compote.  There is syrup in with the strawberries...  I dont know how much, but I would average your margaritas Kerry, at about 350 each.  600 is WAY too high.  You know a good place to try, although I dont know if they have a website that have nutrition info...  Casa Gallardo, or Chevy's.  Try either one of those, and use a "grande" margarita.  That should be a little more accurate.  :)
Yeah, the strawberries always come with sugar syrup which will add to the calorie count. That's why smoothies (unless you make them from scratch yourself) aren't really good for you either because all their fruits come in sugary syrups

If you go to Chili's webpage and find the menu, you can download nutritional or allergen information at the bottom of the printable menu column.  It's very helpful!  I found out how many calories are in the loaded mashed potatoes that I brought home last night for lunch today.  Usually I would have eaten the entire dinner but eating out with my personal-trainer friend helped motivate me to control myself Smile.

Oh yeah, Chili's webpage nutritional information doesn't show calories for their bar drinks.

Surprised Most margarita mixes are 100-150 calories for 4 oz. Cuervo Margarita mix is 100calories for 4 oz then you add another 100-200 in alcohol. Generally, bars don't sell 6oz Margaritas. They are 12-16oz. So you are actually looking at quite a high calorie drink. If you are adding fruit mixes (pomegranate, strawberry, chocolate, etc). You also have to figure the added sugar. However, moderation is key! Enjoy a really good one, or a martini!
