Help! Need to get back on track.
Guys, I am in serious need of some motivation or a pep-talk or something. I hit my first mini goal a couple weeks ago (losing 10% of my starting weight) and I was so excited and pumped. Since then I have basically fallen off the wagon. I haven't been able to keep my calories in check, I haven't been logging (because I know my calories are so high), and I haven't been losing. I actually gained a little, but then lost a little again, so yesterday morning I was right back at my first mini-goal weight. I told myself that I was going to get my rear in gear and get up this morning and go for a run, and eat more vegetables and drink more water today, and get back on track. Then what did I do today? I slept in, didn't run, was late to work, had a lunch date where I ate tons of french fries (and a sandwich), then had seconds at dinner (which I promised myself never to do because I never need it), and then ate TWO cupcakes (because there were 2 different kinds... so obviously I needed to eat 2). It was like I didn't even care at all. After dinner I felt so uncomfortably full and now I am so frustrated with myself. I was doing so well up until this point and it's like I suddenly lost all self-control and desire to lose weight. I don't know what's wrong with me. :(
Any encouraging words or advice?
I'm right with you, I've gained so much weight and I just want to lose some now. We can motivate and encourage each other; because at the end of the day you've managed to do it before so you can do it once again - and keep on it this time. yo-yo'ing won't help us get anywhere so if we can stick to a healthy balance then cooto's us! Start little by little again, like tell yourself no extra portions and if you want more make it something healthy. Nothing too wrong with that as it'll be low in calories. Good luck and I'll always be here for a chat and encouragement to see how we both keep at it
Common Trunkhorse, you can do it! :D
There must be something else bothering you? Ask yourself why you are eating. For pleasure? Boredom? Mad at someone? Don’t punish yourself like this it’s just not worth it. Don’t you want to get healthy and feel good? I know that often tell myself that things don’t taste as good as looking good feels.
Find a release for all that pent up frustration, energy, boredom or emotions. Yell and scream at the person who is making you mad. Cry those tears you’ve been holding back! Tell your lover you need them to “love you”.
You need to take yourself by the hand and ask yourself what you want and need and fulfil it. Stop eating when you aren’t hungry. Only you have the power to do it. Look deep with in your self and really think about it for your own sake!

THIS. EXACTLY.
Start back slow.
Right now you are going to find out what your BMR is and eat that amount. Don't worry about exercise right now. Focus on weighing, measuring, and logging everything you eat. Make allowances for a little treat in the evening, or late afternoon. Don't deprive yourself or put foods "off limits". What about logging and packing all your food the night before - have your lunch and snacks packed and ready to go - pick a breakfast that's quick and easy - that's half the battle.
Next week, work on drinking 8 glasses of water every single day. Buy a big water bottle and carry it with you everywhere. Get ready to pee more than you've ever peed in your life
.
Week after, start going for a little 30min walk 5 days a week. In the morning, at lunch, or after dinner...go exploring your neighborhood or any trails if you have access to them.
Baby steps.....you can do it!!!!! xoxoxoxo
You can do this!!
Reading the other replies before me, my thought is that any of these pieces of advice could work --- you know you best, so pick the one that works for you. In my experience, its logging food that helps get me back on track. Even if you are overeating every day, just keep up the habit. Overcome the feeling that you can't log food if you didn't have a good day, and eventually that will get you back on track - slowly making better choices.
I used CC really well a few years back to drop some weight (I started without it, but joining made it easier). This past year, I gained some of the weight back becuase I wasn't really paying attention to what I was eating. Forcing myself to log food was what really got me jump started again.
I saw in your profile that you may not be getting all the sleep you need - that's an easy place to start too. Your body hangs onto its weight easier and its easier to give into desire to eat when you haven't gotten all your sleep.Especially if life is still stressful, sleep will help, and give you clarity to find better ways than eating to handle the stress.
Good luck - it may be a bumpy ride, but you are going to get back on track and get to your next goal! (Which isn't far off!! - 71.2 kg and a healthy BMI!!)
