what are your hip measurements? and what size pants do you wear?
Hey everybody!! I was just wondering what your hip measurements were compared to your jean size! I know a lot of other factors play a huge role in this too, but im just curious :]
thanks!!!
I am 32", 23", 36" and wear a size 1 in juniors, and either 0/2 in womens
32-26-37 (the last number is the biggest part of my butt). I usually wear a UK size 8 (US size 4) on top and UK size 10 (US size 6) on the bottom. As you can tell I'm very pear shaped!
Also with regard to vanity sizing, all retailers have different sizing systems. In one place a 37" hip might be a UK size 10 (US 6) and elsewhere it could be a UK size 8 (US 4) or UK size 12 (US 8). All depends where you shop!
I'm 33 inches and I wear a size 0. I can also fit into girls' size 14...
I'm 17 but I look like a 12 year old. :(
Hm... This is an old thread, but it's interesting to read.
32-25-34 (around the widest part of the butt) / 30 (around the actual hip bone)
I think I'm around a size 2 in pants (US), but it's really quite inconsistent depending on the brand. It's also frustrating because most brands of clothing assume an hourglass figure, with a relatively low waist-to-hip ratio. And if you have small hips, pants are either too tight when you sit down or fall down when you stand up. Altogether, this makes it nearly impossible to order anything online without first trying it on in the store.
Hip measurement- 38in...I don't know about vanity sizes... but I've been struggling at my weight loss for a while now... use to wear size US 14/15.. now I'm getting back into my old size 9's that i haven't wore in years, i'm lovin it, vanity or not, I look good...:)yeah!
38in, 28in, 35in and I wear a size 5 jeans in juniors, and a 4 in women's, I'm trying to fit back into my size 3's and 2's ]:
Measurements: 34-25.5[smallest part]-35.5 [apparently]
My hips may be small, I have prominent hip bones, but my thigh circumference is ridiculous and means jeans that should fit my hips will not fit over my thighs. I currently only own one pair of skinny jeans in a US size 8 which are loose, I have no idea what clothing size I actually am.
Edit:
I tried on a pair of US size 4 jeans yesterday and I managed to get them on even though I doubted I would.
38.5", pants depend on the brand, I have size 10 up to 13 depending on how they fit. I also have some 10's I bought 5 years ago I still can't wear, even tho I weigh 6 lbs less now. Two more kids and regaining weight did me in :) Just goes to show they are sizing things up!
Old thread, but I'm replying anyway. I'm 40in. around the widest part of my hips, and I wear anywhere from a size 10 to size 13.
But maybe it's cause I wear my pants to actually FIT me instead of pouring myself into jeans 4 sizes too small...... I'd rather wear my 13's and look decent than wear some 9's and have a huge muffin top. If I have rolls where there aren't any before I put clothes on, I won't wear it.
So curious. Some of you guys have 37" hips and fit into a size 4? I remember having 37" hips, but I usually wore a size 9-11. Then again, my pants would sit right on my hip bones, which were about 36-37", while my actual waist size was about 27-28", and my butt at the widest part would be exactly 37".
And my hip bones would always be within 1 or 2 inches of the largest part of my butt... which makes me wonder, if some of you ladies with 37" hips, wearing a size four, what is the measurement of the part where the waist of the pants sit?
At my smallest, my waist was 25.5", butt 34" (it didn't exist at that point), and my actual hip bones were 33.5"... and I wore a size 7 (anything smaller dug into my hip bones and hurt). Freaky, huh? The largest part of my thigh was 18", so, everything was baggy except for where the pants sat... I was about 113 lbs at the time (5'6" tall), so it's not like I had any extra baggage on my stomach... it didn't jiggle when I jumped, lol... so, this is why I'm curious why some of you fit into way smaller sizes with similar stats, but I can hardly pull off something smaller than a 7? :S
Craziness.
Well, I posted on another forum thinking that I was crazy...but I can truly see i'm not...vanity sizing seems to be out there, i just don't see it much...but since I've lost 60 lbs I haven't went shopping until today.
Almost every pair of pants I own, is a size 20. A few size 18's and a few 22's. I was finally able to fit into my size 18's a month or so ago and really though I was a size 18. (after losing 60 lbs, which is crazy)
So today, i finally sucked it up and with a lot of fear, and after searching my favorite store and finding an AMAZING pair of jeans I absolutely loved, I found them, only the only sizes they had were 20's 22's and 1 pair of 14's. So I built up the courage and tried on the 14's.
amazingly...they fit! a little snug but pretty good fit!
then I went to another store, and found Bongo jeans and Glo by j-lo jeans, both size 13. They both fit PERFECTLY not even snug!
So I have 43 inch hips, (43.5 on the biggest part of my stomach) and wear size 14!!! (i've NEVER been able to say that!)
Bust: 35"
Waist: 27"
Hip: 37.5"
Widest part where hip meets thigh/butt: 39.5"
I can comfortably wear anywhere from size 6 to size 10 pants depending on the brand.
This is incredibly stupid. 1) There was no size 00 in the 50s! 2) The sizes are on a scale, biggest to largest. 0 is always smaller than 12. 8 is always smaller than 16. Who cares what the number is if you've gone down from a 6 to a 2? You went down! Would you feel better if this person said they went down from a 10 to a 6?! 3) This standard is the height of foolishness. Why does it end at 5'6"???? People were never taller than that? Or were they considered freaks if *omg* they were 5'9"??? 4) Stop comparing things to the bloody 50s! Houses are bigger, shoes are bigger, cars are bigger, PEOPLE ARE BIGGER! Wider yes, but TALLER as well! Do you go back in time to do your shopping? For God's sake, if you fit into a 4 now, stop fretting over what a 4 looked like before even your parents were born! It's just a number and it only means something in context. And right now, right here, is the context. Ugh!
This is in juniors...i.e. kids. It's like comparing a kid's size 6 shoe to an adult size 6 shoe. Very different. I'm pretty sure a juniors 7 is closer to a misses 4/6...Start shopping in misses, is my advice.
I'm about 43 at the widest part and a size 12 or 14 in Australian sizing which I think (and I keep getting this wrong!) is a 10 to 12 American?
This thread is old but I thought I'd bump it with some input.
I'm 5'5, 130-135lbs and a size 4-8 (I am only a 7/8 in the teen brands like Aeropostale or the teen section of Kohls). I have 38" hips at the widest part, but my hip bones (where my pants actually sit) are 33". It may be vanity sizing but I own jeans and pants in many different brands and I can't think of a single brand in which I am a 10. Not one. This includes Abercrombie, Levis, Target, Aeropostale, J Crew, American Eagle, Hudson, J Brand, Joe's, Pac Sun, Lucky, Kohls, Express, True Religion and Rag & Bone.
There are pictures of me back when I was ten pounds thinner than this where I am wearing a 4 and they are unflatteringly baggy. I was a size 0-4 back then but most of the time I could safely order a 2 (it seems that as you get into the really tiny sizes stores get even more all over the place). I had 35-36" hips. I don't have a muffin top in my jeans and often have to wear a belt. I can comfortably wear leggings underneath all my jeans for warmth in the winter.
So I don't get the whole "people must be wearing tight jeans" bit.
My hips measure 38 inches and I wear a size 30-32 xD
