I am really struggling at the moment . I had been doing so well I have been maintaining a 12-1500 calorie diet and working out 45 minutes, 4 to 5 times a week for about 2 months now. My appetite and energy levels have been great, thanks to will power and a little help from the doctor I have lost 23 lbs . In a nut shell I felt Ive been doing great! Why I am I so hungry all of a sudden, i mean really hungry! not to mention I only made it to the gym twice last week. It just seems my will power is burning out, I so want to be healthy and drop these many extra pounds. Any advice on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
I know how you feel. This past week was the week/upcoming week are the two weeks of AP testing for high schoolers, so I have been crazy stressed and I have felt so so so hungry recently. I have been eating a lot too... Like, I think 4 days in the past week I decided to just disregard my normal intake of 1500 calories a day.. ugh. and I only worked out 3 days. I feel gross. I spent a month tracking every calorie before this...
I look at my body right now and don't see too much of a problem, because I only see the results from working out recently. This past week's bad-ness will show up in a few days and I will not like it one bit.
But tomorrow I finish my last AP test, which means a lot less stress in my life. I am making it a goal to get to the gym every day this week, and if I do that, then I can go shopping at the end of this week. I need new clothes, and if I am good this week, then I can buy them because I will be feeling good about the way I look.
It will just take all of this week to undo last weeks damage... (mind you, I am not trying to lose a lot of weight. just some vanity pounds, gain some muscle, etc)
I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone, we all go through periods where we feel hungrier and lose willpower. Try to think of some reward you can give yourself at the end of this week if you are good all week, or think about how good you feel after you finish your cardio. that tends to get me to the gym.
also, try mixing up your routine a bit. if you have the type of money to join a class, do it. i do yoga once a week, and i feel so great afterwards that i want to go to the gym and work out some more, i want to make my body stronger and more flexible and be able to run those faster miles (i've lowered my time for running a mile by 1.5 minutes since i starts 2 months ago!). make a goal for yourself. a non scale goal. like being able to run a full mile or several miles. or lifting a weight you never thought possible for yourself.
i wish you luck!
That has happened to me also. Try drinking a glass of water when the hunger hits. Sometimes it is thirst not hunger but your body says you are hungry. Also try to exercise for the moment and if you are still ravenous 15 minutes later, then eat a carrot or two. Chewing gum also helps.
I don't know why but sometimes when I am stressed I am much more hungry than when I'm not. What is going on in your life that may be stressing you more?
Thanks for your in put I really have been trying to consume more liquid namely water it does seem to help. As far as stress I know it is among the root issues for much of my weight issue, it is hard to single out what, my issue is probably an over load of sorts. I guess i am at a point where if I want to be more healthy I willmhave to learn to stop soothing through food:) Bummer:):)
I don't know your stats, but it's possible that you're hungry because your body needs more food. How much are you burning each day? 23 pounds in 2 months is a lot. You might want to eat a bit more and aim for a more modest weight loss goal of 1 - 2 pounds per week, which translates to a 500 - 1000 calorie deficit per day. That way your body feels less threatened, and you're less likely to plateau.
