Really hungry in the morning

Quote  |  Reply
Okay the last few days of being back on track I have been really hungry in the mornings...I eat my one serving of cereal and I just feel ravenous...like I could eat a whole box...

Then I get to work and can't wait untill I get my break so I can have my apple...

It wasn't this hard 2 weeks ago....

That happens to me sometimes. I have my one pack of oatmeal and I know I'm going to be hungry soon. What I usually do is boil some eggs. I eat the whites and give the yellows to my dogs.

I make about 6, one large egg white has about 17 calories. Some times I eat one or two driving to work and save a few for later. I also take my time eating them.  At 102 calories for all six, it's not too bad.
im experiencing the same. and failing. ever since my tuesday binge ive been crazy in the mornings. and today my morning greed just led to another smaller binge, but binge none the less. its good that right after breakfast you go somewhere though. For me I'm on spring break so I'm just sitting here in the house waiting till lunch, with food on my mind, which clearly is the problem.
Are you drinking enough water? What kind of cereal do you eat?

Perhaps while you are hungry in the morning you need to spend a few more calories on breakfast.  Add a banana to that cereal, or some low fat yogurt.  Make sure your cereal is whole grain.  Whole grains keep you satisfied longer than simple carbs.
Some cereals make me hungrier than others.  I try to stick to oatmeal or Total.  Wheaties make me ravenous and so do Cheerios.
i'm always hungry in the morning. my breakfast is usually the biggest meal of my day. i get right up out of bed and i get tunnel vision straight to the kitchen. i allllways either eat eggbeaters w/ an english muffin... or some oatmeal w/ pancakes or waffles. (the microwave kind... i can't make those myself! haha) it helps me feel energized the whole day
I eat around 600 calories for my breakefast. That's where I eat the most calories during my day. I feel ok until 1pm for lunch.
I eat 1cup of All-Brans strawberry Bite with 1 cup of 1% milk, 1 slice of whole-grain with flax bread with 1 tablespoon of low calorie/sodium/fat peanut butter and a banana, sometimes berries to go with my cereals like blackberries or strawberries or blueberries.

Maybe if you eat more of good things you'll feel not as deprived and you will alst until lunch. Eat protein also, you'll feel full longer.
If there's one thing I've learned, it's not to eat cereal as my main meal in the morning (or as a snack even)

It honestly just leaves me hungry in another 30-60 minutes, and it always leaves me craving more.  I switched to the weight watchers oatmeal (160 cals and filling).  It's great.

And on weekends, I have homemade oatmeal, pineapple, banana, maybe a small muffin, along with a small bowl of cereal.  It's much more filling!
I like the idea of egg whites. I usually have an egg sandwich and that holds me to mid day with very light lunch and then supper. Oatmeal also holds me longer.

How is your diet? One small serving of cereal in the morning and one apple for lunch sounds really restrictive and insufficient for health. Your body probably needs nutrition. I would add an apple to breakfast ( or a banana, rich in potassium that helps your heart beat) and for lunch a turkey sandwich (whole wheat) with a salad AND fruit. A whole boiled egg for afternoon snack is an excellent idea (80 cal). You girls probably know that our nervous system is made 70% of fats, some of which our body cannot synthetize - they must come from nuts, fish and seeds. Mother's milk is rich in cholesterol AND sugar for a reason - build and give energy to the brain. Our brain is geared to warn us of the needs of our body, and makes sense to listen to it. Plus, wasting 6 egg yolks is uneconomical. You also know that eating too little puts the body in starvation mode - losing no weight, being always cold etcetera, losing less weigh than one would with an appropriate diet with exercise. (If overweight. If normal weight...why to suffer?) We women call this continous torture to please who? Eat a variety of nutritious foods in moderation ( whole grains, low-fat dairies, some egg, lean meat, vegetables, fruits & seeds, beans) listening to the signals of your brain. Gee, if you're hungry is because you're restricting too much.

Eating a big meal the night before will expand your stomach to fit all of the food in.
Meaning that in the morning when your stomach is empty again, you will feel more hungry than you normally would.

If you've just started to diet again, this may be some kind of explanation!

It's also a good idea to train yourself to either ignore or enjoy hunger. Once you get into the swing of it you will only eat to keep your energy levels.

Remember - Food is simply fuel.

oh man it sounds great to hear that people are like me...Ravenous in the morning!!! My boyfriend thinks I am like crazy!! I eat peanut butter and cereal...and when i make our lunches for the day...i usually end up tasting a little bit of everything...But now i stick to Special K cereal...now i am getting used to just having a bowl of cereal! haha love everyone here on CC !!!
I love breakfast, it's my favorite meal of the day. I'll consume my larger portion of calories on just that one meal. Sometimes as high as 600 calories.

Always my breakfast is a combo of any (and not all at once ;) of the following: high fiber cereal, egg, fresh fruit, yogurt, whole-wheat bagel (again, high fiber), oatmeal, coffee, etc. I mix up the breakfast combos to keep things from getting boring.

Having such a large meal in the morning helps me not feel starved throughout the day. Plus it gives me the remainder of the day to burn off what I've eaten.

There's also the psychological element of my morning breakfast being my time. I take my time to eat my meal while getting ready, sometimes reading the paper, etc. It's a time of day when I can focus a little on me, before the rush of the day's activities take over.

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
