I'm 23 years old and 5'2". I'm currently at 120 (my comfortable weight) but I would really like to get down to 110-112. My measurements are 34-27-38, and my goal is to get to 34-25-35. I found that its difficult to find other people like me; I'm petite and at an acceptable weight, but I want to look and feel better.
I've started and stopped excercising/eating right about a dozen times. Every time I get down to 117, I give up. But I'm very determined to reach my goal and I would LOVE to find others that are looking to better themselves!
Another motivation for me is that I'm getting married this summer; this will most likely be my last summer before I get pregnant...and I want to leave behind my fun early 20's with a bang!
Is there anyone else out there in a similar situation? I'd love advice, tips, success stories/pics, motivation, discussion, anything...I think it will really help!
Hey there! I am 5'1" so can totally understand what it's like to be petite woman. I am also engaged :) When I joined this website I was 120 (down from 130 by dieting on my own). I lost 20lbs (but have since gained back 5 lbs). I went from a 8-10 at 130lbs to a size 2 at 100 lbs. I bought a size 4 wedding dress and still to this day CANNOT BELIEVE that I lost all that weight! I never imagined I could do it! My main success was because I never allowed myself to be hungry. I was always eating but eating good stuff, loads of fruits and veggies, drinking tons of water and keeping my average intake to 1500 calories a day. Check out my profile and feel free to PM me or we can talk on journals if you like.
Woah....spooky. I'm 5'3" with similar measurements, weight, dieting history (I can get to 118), and I'm also getting married (next May).
I go to the gym on average 3-4 times per week (good weeks-6, bad weeks-1) and do several cardio classes, one weight lifting class and one Pilates class.
Since I have been stuck at 120 for several months I started playing with my diet - I have almost completely eliminated processed sugars and flours (I use honey and fruit as sweeteners and spelt or rice flour, pasta, etc.). That didn't help much with the weight loss - but overall I feel much better on a reduced sugar diet. My latest experiment is to eat every 2-3 hours, include some form of protein in every meal, and increase my fiber intake. Since I'm eating so often I have to be really careful with my food choices so I keep my calorie intake low enough.
It has been about a week and I can l already tell that my metabolism has increased since I'm hungry every two or three hours. I used to try to keep my calories at 1200, but now I try for 1400-1600. With all of the exercise I feel 1200 is too low even though that is the CC recommendation.
I would also like to try switching to morning workouts since they supposedly help burn more fat - but that is a BOLD move for a night owl like myself... perhaps that will be next month’s experiment :)
These are just a few things I have tried - I'll keep you posted on the results. I'm always looking for advice, please let me know if you have any tips or suggestions!!
I have gone down to 118 lbs but i starting eating unhealthy and school got in the way.
I was around 152 lbs almost a year ago .. i have not gotten to my goal weight and this summer i want to wear a two piece without being too self concious.
I have cut out all bad carbs from my diet, saturated fats, fast food, chips etc, i dont drink any soft drinks, i try to have smalll meals every 3 hours, if i am not hungry i have a small snack. i am exercising atleast 5 hours every week with 2 hours of strenght training and 3 hours of cardio.
I have just started this week so i hope this is going to help me get to my goal weight.
I really need a weight loss buddy who will push me a little if i get discouraged and/or need motivation.
Let me know if your interested.
I'm 19, and pretty sedentary. I'm sitting all day except for when I workout for a min. 30 minutes a day (burning about 150-200 calories.)
I've been averaging 1200 calories per day, and I'm weighing once a week. I hope to see some progress!!!
I am 5'1'' in a half too. I am 120 and have been stuck there for 6 weeks. I am very frustrated that it wont budge. So yesterday i decided to do something different . I am trying zig zagging my calories. Eating a different number of calories every day. I try and workout 1-2 hours a day. So how should we do this so we can all keep in touch?PM me if yall want to. And to you NYCgirl I would love to know how you got down to 100.
Wow I'm SO glad there are others out there in my situation!!! You all seem to be really movtivated - I hope I can keep up and not cheat too much :)
A problem of mine is that my lovely fiance doesn't gain ANY weight and he can eat whatever he wants. We also eat very differently and at different times; he doesn't eat breakfast and usually has 1 HUGE meal at night (a big no no). I'm a vegetarian and I like to spread out my meals throughout the day. So at night when he see's me eating twice he's like..."wow you eat/snack alot". He doesn't understand that I eat little things throughout the day; so there are times when I'll go to bed hungry because I don't want him to think I'm porking out. Do any of you have that going on?? He's not controlling or anything...but he's seen me at 130 lbs. and wants me to help me reach my goal of 112 (well, of course he does!).
I did REALLY good yesterday (it was day 1 so can't pat myself on the back too much). I ate about 1100 calories, went for a 35-40 jog, did a 24 min routine on Exercise TV (love that perk of Comcast), and 6 minute abs. I went to bed feeling great and not hungry - and I slept fantastic. I hope to do the same thing tonight - although I live in Seattle and it's raining...so not sure if I can go for my jog.
How's everyone else doing today??
I also completely understand where you are coming from! I'm 5'1" and weigh in at 100lbs. I think what helped me the most was upping my calories. I started off with 1200 for god knows how long, but I still could never get to where I was happy. I then started eating at least 1500 (I allowed myself more on heavy workout days). That's when I saw the best results. I also eat ALOT of protein to preserve and build muscle mass which makes you look leaner all over. I work my butt off at the gym doing kickboxing 3 days a week, weight training 3 days a week, and running 2 days a week.
I'm 24, 5'2", and 123 pounds (today), trying to get around 115. lol your fiance sounds like my guy - "are you sure you wanna eat that?" "Yes! Because you ate half my dinner!" I'm sure if you explain that you're eating small portions several times a day, including right before bed, he'll understand, or pretend to lol.
Congrats on a great start on Day 1! Somebody ate the protein from my dinner last night, so I only hit 1000 calories, but I'm sure I'll find a way to make it up this weekend... :D
I'm 24, 5'3", about 127 pounds, very small bone structure, getting married in August and would like to be down to about 115 by then. My highest was 150 (two years ago), and my lowest has been 119. I run usually 3-4 days a week for 40 minutes or so, and am trying to incorporate some weight training, too (but I seem to be a cardio fanatic -- I get awfully cranky without it!).
Just thought I'd chime in! :)
Misty, you say you had to eat at least 1500cal to lose weight with all the working out you do... I guess it IS true what they say about eating more to lose!!! I'm short too, 5'1, and I work out 7 days a week. I'm not trying to lose weight but I definitely don't want to gain. I just get so confused about the calories I should eat to stay the way I am... it is very reassuring to hear someone else who is short eating a higher amount of cals (i was scared to go above 1200 for so long). Just curious, how much do you eat on days you work out a lot? Do you eat back your work-out calories?
I am also 23 5'2" and weigh 113. I'd like to get back to 104-105 because that's what I weighed last summer before I spent this year in France and ate waaaay too many chocolate croissants.
But my main goal is to get strong. I'm through being a small weak girl. So I don't really care about the number on the scale as long as it's muscle weight.
i'm 5'4" and weigh about 95 lbs, sometimes i'll inch up towards 100, but i'm most comfortable about around 93. i think it's all about bone structure. i feel like i'm at a pretty healthy weight. i put in a goal of 90 lbs for my birthday on may 17th. people that don't have a lot of weight to lose have really a very similar struggle as people that have a ton because it's way easier to lose weight when you're severely over weight. 5 lbs is a LOT of work for someone that only weighs 95 lbs.
you've probably heard this before... but i'm going to anyway...
skeleczar, don't mean to be nosey, but your bmi is dangerously unhealthy... at 16.3, that's classified as sickly underweight. be careful with yourself! if you stay that light at that height you can have problems, like not having your period, eventually becoming infertile and losing bone calcium and you'll have brittle bones and your looks will age quicker than your actual age! be careful of the risks you take at that size. try looking at the maintaining weight boards. If you're not interested in gaining, at least try and stay the weight you are! you look fine, i'm sure.
some of the problems very skinny people have are the same as the problems overweight people have, staying healthy is a tricky balance, I'm at 5'2 130, I can't really talk, I'll admit, and I can't say I'd rather have a problem keeping weight on that losing weight, but my neighbor was the "A" word and she was taken to a clinic and nearly died. when we visited her it was really gross and she could barely stand or take herself to the bathroom... and she wanted to keep losing weight. her spine looked like a stegosaurus... the girls there were miserable, had no energy. she said one girl there had issues with passing out because she refused to breath, afraid air had calories... some people suffer from dementia at that point. Sorry to denigrate to the "scary story" lecture, but it's a real issue. there's a lot of girls on CC that have the same goals and I pretty much leave the same post for every one. I don't think anybody is really listening but when you break your arm lifting something or start freaking out cause you haven't had your period for months, at least you might know why.
i probably have some things to sort out, but i don't know. it's confusing. food makes me anxious, and like, i don't know, it's hard to explain. i know it doesn't make sense, but i really do have a lot of body fat. it's really frustrating, i know it doesn't make sense, but it's there.
I'd like to get down to 120, but I know I'm at a healthy weight now, so I've decided that I'll stop wherever my body naturally stops. If I'm eating right and exercising and not losing any more weight, then I'll know that's where I'm supposed to be.
Hey! I'm 5 foot 1 and 120.5 (down from 147!!). I want to get down to 115. I would also like some motivation, it's so hard close to the end! I find myself slipping more now than before, because I actually like the way I look. I think I am also at my comfortable weight.
mpatutucci: I also got married when I was 23 and it's probably one of the reasons I've gained weight recently. I'm actually 24 not 23 as I said in my previous post (age denial?).
My husband can also eat a lot without gaining much. But my calorie counting has really helped him as well. Now he eats enough to keep him full but it's much healthier and leaner food than we used to eat (since I generally do the grocery shopping) and he's starting to lose the little bit of extra fat that he had. And his muscles are starting to show through even more...very nice! ;)
Just some extra motivation for any married gals! ;)
skeleczar, maybe healthily gain weight with strength training. while you gain weight, it tones you and eats up all your body fat. just stick to protein (beans, lean meat, not powder) and it should help you out. don't worry about looking like an american gladiator or over muscled, it takes a lot to get to that point.and the upside is smallness and being toned and strong. good luck!
