The last 10 pounds!! Small Support Group wanted!!

Quote  |  Reply

Hi there,

I'm looking for a small support group where the members are willing to make a commitment to weigh in everyday for at least 2 weeks to keep momentum.

My goal is to lose the winter weight I've gained over the past 4 months but it hasn't been easy.

I started a routine on Monday Feb 21 eating around 1500 calories/day  and doing 30mins  (cardio/pilates/kettlebell) 3 times this week.

I'm 29 5'6

starting weight: 134

current weight: 130

goal weight: 120

Please join if you're interested in joining my plight :)

I'm the same with salty foods! I try and stay a way as much as I can because the bloat for me lasts a few days :(

I have been doing good so far! been to the gym Mon, Tues and Weds - Last night was a killer. Body pump and then straight in to Spin & Box which is an intense class where you do spin for half hour then its boxing and circuits for the last half hour. Ouch! However, my weight is still stuck as it is coming up to my time of the month! Jeeeees don't you just hate that bloated feeling! Yak! It's hard for us girls.

Can I ask - do any of you do any Boxing classes like boxercise or box fit?

~ Jo

jo: i dont do any boxing but it is great for cardio and sculpting. your workout sounds intense by the way.

------------------

weighed this morning at 108.8...after coffee and a small-ish breakfast...i will just guess that it tacked on a pound...putting me up .8 pounds since monday.

what do all of you aim for for calorie intake?? i do 1800-1900. im trying to keep a 350-500 calorie deficit....i have roughly 100 days to lose 10 pounds...so 350 deficit will get me there.

i hear about deficits needing to be smaller as you close in on your goal...so what is your deficit goal as well?

how much weight have you all lose so far??

Chrissy: Yes my wednesday does sound quite intense but Wednesday is my 'Hardcore' day as I call it. lol. What training do you do?

My other days down the gym are not as intense but I still get a good workout.

I tend to vary my calories from day to depending if I'm training or not, but on average is between 1500 and 2000.

I want to get down to areound 132-133lbs and I am now 145lbs. I lost 7lbs recently. Which doesn't sound alot compared to some but on the otherhand I haven't got much to loose.

~ Jo

Jo: I do strength training videos....circuits with hand weights...an ab workout daily (10-15 minutes) and the elliptical. i walk a lot, clean, cook, and try to move around as much as possible.

Chrissy: Aw cool! sounds good :) What does the Ab workout consist of and have you seen the results? I want to work my core more as sometimes the classes I attend quickly run over this at the end and don't spend enough time on them.

I read you are getting married in July :) Wow! Bet you are sooo excited.

~Jo

Jo: I try to switch up the ab workout because it can get boring. i do exercises to target the transverse and rectus abdominis and the obliques....not just crunches. so planks, side planks, bicycle crunches, leg lifts, push  ups, yoga moves, and pilates moves. the key to a flat stomach is working the supporting muscles...which include the entire core. people forget that.

wedding...oh so exciting but i want to look beautiful on the outside as well. thats where exercise and diet will play a major role. are you married?

Chrissy: sounds cool! and you seem to really know your stuff :) I like planks, in our boxing training we do lots of planks and ab stuff and that is the best class I find but I want to start doing more at home so will do abit of research. It's all about the flat stomach in the summer. lol :)

I bet! I bet organising and planning everything is brilliant. Is it a big wedding you are having? I hope your big day will be everything you want it to be. No I am not married as yet. Been with my Boyfriend for 4 years and we live together but no wedding bells ringing just yet! ha ha

~ Jo

jo...we are having a small wedding..only 40 people or so with a dinner reception. we are moving soon after the wedding and dont want to spend a fortune and we're also pretty low key so only want the really important people there. wow...4 years?? whats causing the wait?

I kept it together fairly well yesterday.

I managed to have a banana with some natural peanut butter on it when I got home, and a few spoonfuls of tuna. I think I probs hit around 1900cals yesterday, and if I factor in the massive amount of ice cream and the two hrs of exercise, I think I'm ok with that. Eating sweets is part of who I am so I just need to manage it well! Granted, half a pint of ice cream isn't really "well" - but, well, you know.

I'm starving today, though! I have kashi and shredded wheat for breakfast and that usually does me pretty well... I've also had two clemintines and a banana and half a dozen animal crackers. I have a substantial lunch packed of chicken and edamame soup and tuna/chickpea salad so hopefully I'll be able to rein it all in at lunch. And then maybe enough energy for the gym tonight?

aquilinag: I always aim for about 1800-1900 calories..closer to goal and with exercising 2 hours that's probably what you SHOULD have eaten. what's your target?

Hi there, I know it's a bit late, but I'd love to drop in and start weighing everyday. I am on my last ten pounds, and I'm finding that I am making a lot of excuses now. I'm a math nut, so I'll start justifying things like, well, I GUESS I can still eat what I want for Monday and Tuesday, that just means I'll have to cut back calories for the next 5 days down to 1400 and it will fix it... and so on... it becomes quite the cycle. So I lose in spurts, overall averages at only about .25 lbs a week because I'm not being consistent.

Very first starting weight: 163

Current Weight: 149.2

Goal Weight: 139

Woo hoo for the last 10 lbs!!

The plan is to learn how to be very consistent throughout the week instead of having great days and crappy days all mixed in together. I would like to bump up my rate of loss to half a lb a week as that is consistent and manageable (I have no excuse not to meet it!). I am somewhere between light and moderate activity level so I burn approximately 2050 cals a day naturally. Plan is to cut calories by 250, and exercise 3x week (full cardio and strength training sessions). So by this time next week I will hopefully see a loss of .5 - 1.0 pound.

To the above poster (Aqui)-- I soo know about the ice cream and sweets thing. I really do have a problem, I'm learning to try and accept it in moderation because the all or nothing mentality has gotten me in trouble in the past. A truly disturbing and embarrassing story-- My boyfriend brought over light cookies and cream ice cream, and we had some after dinner (4 people). The next day there was about a third of the container left and I came home on lunch break and couldn't resist. I literally ate the rest of the ice cream... then I felt guilty, AND I didn't want anyone to know I ate all of the ice cream for lunch, so I bought more and threw out 2/3 of it down the disposal so it looked like nothing had changed. Not my proudest moment, how's that for addictive behavior? **shame**

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to check back in, I've lost .8lbs as of Tuesday (I believe that was within a one week span).  I haven't been consistently counting calories rather eating mindfully since this week has been a crazy week for me.  However, once my schedule calms down a bit I will definitely track more often to see if it makes a difference in losses. I think I will average this loss a week as prior to this loss I think I lost the same, though I wasn't really "trying." This week I've been kicking up my cardio with my goal of getting in 5 sessions. So far I have 3 and as soon as I'm done typing this I'm going to get in another :)

I think I've found the perfect dress for my college graduation, It requires really toned legs as its on the short side, and it's strapless. So, my goal is not only to get the weight off but to look great in my dress, though its going to be covered most of the time in a cap and gown. Lol.

Chrissy: Aww that sounds lovely! I'm sure your special day will be perfect :)

Well I met my boyfriend 4 years ago on holiday. He lives 200 miles from where I grew up so when we met I was at university. We did the long distance thing for over 2 years and as soon as I graduated and found a job I moved to be with him :) Everything is great at the moment so hopefully all in good time. lol

Slanie: Welcome to the group. We are all in it together to shift those final lbs! Come on we CAN DO IT!! Your story made me smile - Don't worry, been there done that! I find it good to have at least 1 moment like that because the next time you go to binge just think about how guilty and bad you felt the time before and it kind of gives you a kick up the butt not to do it.

happy st. paddy's day everyone!

Today is not a good dieting day for me. Ended up at the bar @ 730am and had 3 guinnesses before 11am. Plus two shots (irish car bomb and an irish funeral). I also had a big falefel lunch... and have pretty much maxed out in all the calories I can have in a day. So here's hoping that I don't end up in the bar later tonight(but I want to gooo!!!!)

Now to get some work done.

Happy St. Paddy's!!!

Today I weighed in @ 159.4! (SW 166 GW 150) Is it possible to loose a pound a day without excercising, but following calorie intake? It sounds too good to be true?!?!?

So sandyyyy how's the pussycat doll workout, i was curious to try it, but i'd like to get feedback.

I wanna give pops to all you ladies who keep up with workouts on most days of the week! It's so hard for me to get 3 days out of the week...: ( I have a baby and i always feel guilty for leaving her again to go to the gym after picking her up at her sitters.

slanie, my starting weight was 166 (3lbs more than you) and i see your goal weight is 139, what's your body type because i cannot seem to go any lower than 145 and I am exited to see someone else who was almost the same weight as i was, have a lower goal. You motivate me to shoot for another lower goal!!!

For me it's not tough, like it's a light cardio and it's fun (I guess I'm comparing it to my horseback riding coach who is uhm = hell, the devil in person, not only does he make me work non stop but I get scared if I make a mistake). I do this workout before I do any others, it's like a starting point. It's sexy and sassy, pretty fun I'd say, maybe that's why you might not feel so tired :D Jillian michels is definetly tiring (harder cardio) and so is flirty girl fitness *more anaerobic and muscle soreness*, I think p90x might be the toughest, but I don't think I'll do that, because the ones on the comercial for p90x look like female hulk.

I'm up 1.5lbs. Worst feeling! It makes me so depressed, ugh. Going to hit the gym and lunch and then go riding tonight.

aquilinag...weight fluctuates....every single day and even within a day...if you cant cope with seeing a gain from one day to the next then daily weighing isnt for you. i try not to focus on one number...instead a period of 3-4 days work better because usually i steadily climb after a loss until i use the restroom ( a good one) and then hit a new low weight. its just the way my body works. so try to figure out how your body works so that youre not upset by momentary gains.

--------------------------

108 pounds today so down a bit from yesterday...hoping to be 106.something by monday since i hit 107 this past monday. that would be awesome.

CC tells me that 1700 for my activity level should have me losing 5 lbs in a month. I've got another 2 weeks to knock off 3lbs. Fingers crossed that I can pull it off.

I go to the gym 6x a week for like 30-60 minutes. I have started to love exercising! I use to hate it... but now I look forward to it. I feel so much better afterwards (I think I just hate sitting all day). I even went to the gym yesterday after having a few beers for st paddy's day! haha.

Not that I have kids - but my gym offers free babysitting... which might be something you want to look into, because then your baby could be at the gym with you -- watching you as your exercise and get healthy!
