5'1 100 lbs?

Quote  |  Reply

Hi I am new and trying to lose about 100 lbs! I am 5'1 and 202 right now. I have never been thin (my lowest weight was about 160 as I can remember) so I want to know what someone who is 5'1 would look like at a weight of 100 lbs? Can anyone share pictures or give me an idea of how this would look?

Also is exercise really crucial to losing the weight? (I can't stand exercise, even walking!!)

Thank you for any advice!

Keep in mind that you might never get to be 100 lbs. I'm 5'0", and at my smallest I was 127, and there was no way I was getting smaller! I've always been heavier, usually maintaining at 150 or so, but now I'm aiming for 135. I have a lot of hard work ahead of me since I'm currently at 172.8.

But, if you DO manage to get down to 100 lbs, CONGRATS! You'll feel SO much better, have a ton more energy to do things (exercise might actually be enjoyable).

thanks lynners!  yeah I guess I'm not really sure what weight is best.  I can never tell what weight people are!  My friend is 5'3 and 130 lbs and I guessed she was like 110!!  so I really can't tell, all I know is all my friends are tinier than me Cry

I was 100 lbs when I was 19.  I had a proportioned figure than of 32x22x32 inches.  I looked small but healthy.  However, I have a small bone structure, i.e., I can wrap my thumb and index fingers around my wrist and overlap them.

If you are medium framed or large boned, you shouldn't try to get that small.

Good luck!

hi!  I think I am small framed (I have really tiny wrists) so that is why my goal is about 100.  I want to look healthy but really thin for once!

Yvesta - I started a group for short girls who have more than 40 lbs to lose, you're more than welcome to join us if you want! We give eachother a lot of motivation and support. I think you can find it if you look through my profile.

thank you lynners! I will go post there right now Smile

Oh, and there is another short girls thread, but most of them seem to be tiny already.

The thread I made is called "under 5'4" with a significant amount of weight to lose" or something like that.

I'm 5'0" and I weighed 97 pounds when I was 17.  I don't have any pictures in digital form to show you, but I can tell you that I was told by more than one person (friends, their parents, school principal, family, etc...) that I needed to gain weight.  I never want to be quite that small again, but I've set an "ideal goal" for myself at 113.  I've also set a "realistic goal" of 123.  I'm not so concerned about the number, as to how I'll feel.  So I'm guessing I'll decide when I hit 123 if I want to lose any more.  I don't want to hit a goal that's impossible to maintain and I don't want to set a goal that I may never be able to reach either.  I just want to look good and feel good!  My highest was 183 and I'm down to 140 now.  This is usually where I plateau so wish me luck on breaking into the 130s this time!

AS for not wanting to exercise, I'm completely there with you!!!  But, I've decided if I truly want to not just look good, but feel good as well, I've got to do it.  Of course, that's much easier said than done!  I'm a few days behind on my routine but I think writing this has given me the motivation to get my butt out of bed in the morning and do my time on the elliptical!  So thanks for that!  And good luck!

thanks! and congrats on your amazing achievement so far! I really just want to look and feel good, the number doesn't matter I guess! I just want to be one of the "skinny girls" for once in my life while I am still young. Around here all girls my age are so tiny!

I know exercise is really healthy so maybe once I lose a bit of weight I will feel more motivated. it's kinda embarrassing to go to the gym or go running right now cause people look at me funny Frown

I'm 5' 3 1/2", but when you account for the added height I'm at about your goal weight: I weigh 109 lbs.

I don't know if exercise is crucial or not, but I do know that it enabled me to drop from 129 to 109 in a matter of months (and I'm 35, which can make it harder).

I think you'll find you can lose weight easily without exercise at first, but as you get closer to your goal weight it will not only become harder to lose weight but you will also have to lower your daily food intake to keep losing (if in fact your body will let you drop that far at all). To my mind it is better to work out and be able to eat more. You will also look smaller in the end because muscle is denser than fat. You may find 100 lbs. isn't even necessary once you see how your body looks when it is toned.

And, well, exercise is crucial for health even if it isn't necessarily crucial for weight loss.

It depends on your body type.. I'm 5'1 and about 122 lbs right now. My goal weight is 105 and I have a medium body frame judging my my wrists. I don't have particular measurements but I wear a 34D, my stomach is pudgy, and I wear about size 3 in jeans.. I think at 5'1 and 100 you would look like Rachel Bilson skinny!

Exercise is crucial to some and not others. I think it's very necessary for me. Exercising isn't just important for losing weight, it's good for your heart and health! You could still lose weight without exercise but well.. exercise makes you feel better! :)

I'm 5 foot and 100lbs (depends, my scale says 98 and the doctors says 103.6)

Would you like a picture?

You know what I do for exercise? I bought a self propelled lawn mower and I mow my 1 acre plus of land this way. No riding lawn mower for me.

It didn't always be that way. I started slowly (parking further away so I'd have to walk further to the store, taking the steps.) Small things? Yes. Do they work, yes. Every calorie burnt is one calorie less that you have to lose.

Think in small terms. 1lbs at a time. You'll get there. I'm back to my normal weight, I don't look "too thin". I'm a vegetarian and I eat veggies like they are going out of style.

If you need to talk some time let me know. I always need a buddy who's looking to keep the weight off or who wants to lose weight. :)

You don't have to start a super programme at once. I'm doing this right now:

- park further away

- walk to the market with my trolley and back ( no car)

- take the stairs

- ride my bike when I've got errands, like going to the hairdressers and pharmacy and such

-  HOME ALONE I try to do situps.

- I'm thinking to invest in one of those excersise bikes. I'm low on money, but I'm looking for one. Pedalling away while I'm watching my favourite shows on TV.......... :-) or dvd's :-)

No not all people would be skinny at 100lbs.  I'm small boned and no I don't look skinny. Not at all. I can finally wear a bikini as my bra size went from a 34D to a 34C (YEAH!) I can wear small shirts! 0 size jeans are too big (I can fit into 10/12 in the kids department, shopping is soo much cheaper!).  Look at my pictures and tell me that's too skinny. I have a figure, I'm  not flat or boney looking. It all depends on your body size! I was 103 the whole time in highschool.

Now 80lbs I'd say was a bit on the thin side. But look at your BMI, 100lbs omg you've got lbs to lose before you are too thin! :)

It absolutely depends on your body type. No one calls me skinny at 5' 3 1/2" and 109. I am still quite curvy. I am also quite muscular, though, and I'm sure that helps to keep people from saying anything. I look healthy and strong.

I'm 5'1.5'' and am stuck at 113. My goal weight is 110.  I like myself at 113 and have no desire to get below 110.  Like petite_powerhouse I have a curvy figure and love it.  You can see my pictures on my profile if you want.  There is one from a year ago when I was over 140, and 2 recent ones - 116lbs in one and one of my current 113.

Every person is different, but for me anything below 110 is too low. Good luck on your weight loss.  : )

Thank you everyone!  I would really love to see pictures of anybody 5'1 at different weights, it will give me a better idea of what my goal should be!  thanks!

I know, I'm just not sure if she would look normal at that weight considering she doesn't seem to remember being at that weight.. If she was that weight through high school it would make sense for her to be there again. But some people are just built differently! It really depends.
