Is it a myth or a reality? Has anyone lost weight by adding lemon in water to their diet? If so, how many glasses would have to be drunk to make a difference?

You add some vitamins and minerals to your water which is good and you're also alkalizing your body to some extend with the added lemon, which is also good.

But you won't lose more or less weight because of the lemon, you lose weight by eating less than your body consumes ;) -before you ask: diet pills that tell you tales of wonder-herbs/fruits are a scam.

My understanding is that it acts as a natural diuretic to reduce bloating.  Boil one cup of water with 1/4 of a large lemon for 3 minutes.

I've read that it's EXTREMELY good for your overall health, but doesn't aid substantially (if at all) to general weight loss.

Every morning before breakfast I drink a glass of water with a whole lemon squeezed into it. Get's my body hydrated, alkaline, and sets it up for a nice number 2 after breakfast (sorry TMI).

I recommend it to everyone and consuming it with warm water rather than cold would be preferable. I will try that when the weather cools down :)

I use it simply to add some flavor to all of the water I drink. I have reservations that it matters as far as weight loss, but it makes drinking all of this water easier!

From what I understand, adding lemon to water helps some people drink more water, because they enjoy the taste more. If you drink more water, you'll feel more full.

But I know that lemon is not a weight loss magic trick. Just another myth of weight loss.

I was going to say the same thing.

I've heard that adding lemon juice to your water can help with skin, nails, hair (that vitamin C and whatnot...)

But as far as losing weight.... I doubt it.

The only way I can think of it helping is that it would make water taste better so you'd drink more water.

I do it for same reasons as above. Keeps me very regular. I do hot water lemon juice and apple cider vinegar first thing in am it makes me happy.. Lol I don't think it aids in weight loss but sure helps with other things ;)

then where do the myths of weight loss come from? is it from the waste being released from the body, causing weight loss?

Very interesting. I was not aware lemon/lime juice had such magical properties. /sarcasm

So, after reading this post, I've read a lot about lemon having good effects on the digestive track, and many here have said it helps "move things along".  So, I was curious and tried some warm lemon water this morning.

For the past hour, I keep feeling like I'm going to puke.

I'll stick to water water.
