Wonderful!

I've been on and off diets for most of my life.

Now I know I'm not overweight, my BMI is currently 24.8, but I'd still like to lose a few pounds to be more around 22.

My biggest mistake is I give in to temptation. Mostly this is late night snacking on chocolate and crisps. I just looooove chocolate and crisps. Love em. Really. If it is in the house, I feel like its calling constantly from this damn cupboard. Ok this sounds crazy :)  I cant really think about anything else once I've started thinking about it. I've tried drinking a tall glass of water or tea, but after a few moments I just want to snack again.

I have an elliptical at my home and I try to do 45 minutes each working day + I bike to work, which gives my another 45 minutes per day. Total 1h 30

I'm not really convinced that this is enough to help me lose weight, cause I've been doing this since the beginning of january and have not really seen any change on the scale. But maybe I should use a measuring tape instead. Cause I have the experience that my scale just does not give me the right information.

Any thoughts about working out or how u guys fight your cravings?

Aiglin-

I cannot really vouch if this is true, but I read it yesterday and thought it was interesting.  It talked about how water doesn't really make you 'feel full.'  The article suggested that people which had some clear broth before they ate helped them feel more full.  I guess your body know that water is just water and it will pass it through the stomach quickly, whereas a broth will not pass through as fast so it can start being processed.  Again, not really sure about how true this is, but maybe worth a shot?  And congrats on all the exercise!  I got on my elliptical this morning for thirty minutes after weeks of disuse.

Hi Aiglin,

I totally know what you mean about the late night cravings. I LOVE dark chocolate. Red wine is also a weakness of mine....then put the 2 together, and it's all over. Anyway, I decided to cut back and only allow myself to have 1 glass of red wine per week, and I am having it during my "cheat" day when my hubby and I go out to dinner (that way I don't open a whole bottle and feel obligated to keep filling up the glass before it goes bad). As far as chocolate goes, I let myself have one small piece per day. That way I'm not totally depriving myself.

I have found that having soup before a meal fills me up and I tend to eat less. I just stay away from cream-based soups and stick with broth-based.

Your exercise routine may be part of the problem. It sounds like you are pretty routine about it, but it would help to "confuse" your body by doing different types of exercises. Maybe buy the Intensity or P90X CD's and start doing some high intensity training a few days a week to add some muscle work in. I belong to a gym and take an awesome class called "Tabata" three times a week, do a High Intensity Training class once per week, jog 3 days per week and am now beginning to add swimming into my routine.

I hope that helps! I just joined calorie count last week and have already lost 4 pounds! Some of that had to have been bloating from a high carb, high calorie diet that I have adjusted. My diet is what has been holding me back all along!

Hi Michelle! We are definitely close in stats. I am super excited since joining this site, because I am already starting to feel/see results even after only a few days. If anything, I am concerned that I'm losing too fast. Just made some adjustments to my calorie needs, as I think I may be burning more with my workouts that initially thought.

Anyway, How long have you been on the site? Tell me about yourself.

Tracey

Hi everyone!

I would also love a motivational buddy. I am 29, not overweight, but want to loose a bit to feel better and look better for my upcoming wedding. I have a hard time sticking to any diet. My weakness is chocolate and candy. I work with kids and there is candy around my work environment to use as rewards, and I have such a hard time resisting. I hope I can stick to this more than a few days.

Hi Valerie,

First, congrats on your upcoming wedding (-: Awesome!

Hey I know it can be difficult to maintain motivation when the world around you is not in sync with your goals. In this case you create your own world, where your rules rule. Whatever your heart desires you can receive. All you must do is:

  1. Desire the change
  2. Have faith
  3. Take action

Without those three things perfectly combined, we all don't stand a chance-

-BUT-

With those three things anything is accomplishable, achieveable, and tangible!

You decide...

Hey im around 130 and wanting to get down to 115-117 also :)

Is anybody else having problems getting in all their vitamins without supplements?  I have having issues with getting my iron high enough in particular.  It seems like even 'iron rich foods' don't have a whole lot of iron in them from what I have seen, like you would have to eat for getting iron all day long.  Any ideas out there??

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
