Looking for Weightloss buddies!
Hi...I've been doing CC for a couple of weeks and seeking some weight loss buddies to motivate me. I'm 38, 5'6", 215. I've lost about 90 pounds so far and am hoping to lose at least 50 more. I'm having trouble staying motivated! Anyone else having this problem? Hope to hear from you soon!
Lol, ok to finish up quick,
GB- please riddle me this, what on earth is the "&nb sp" thing. I have seen it a few times and have to say I'm absolutely clueless. Good insight for beacher....I bet that's exactly what's going on. *Smiles while thinking about the balance ball chair and how much her little one would love it* Real Estate, ugh, sounds like a headache. It will definately pay off though. Way to keep a positive attitude too! I got a walk in today, trying to amp up for this challange :)
Have a great weekend everyone- I will more than likely be on tomorrow evening to check in!
Hey all!
I'm 21, 5'1, 165... I want to lose 55 pounds by December!
I just started on this site today. I am starting out strong but am really worried I will start slipping and slacking off. I really need some weight loss buddies!
Most of my weight I gained from my pregnancy. My son is now 15 months old though and I haven't lost it. I really hate this weight and feel really down about it so hopefully that will keep me in line.
Anyone wanna be my buddie?? ![]()
No matter how bad you feel, you should never resort to ingesting organic cleaner!
....teehee, just kidding. I couldn't resist :D
Welcome to you too dntlookback9!!! The more the merrier! We all need as much support as we can get/give!!!
One reason I'm trying to lose is to be healthy and lessen any chances of complications when I do finally get pregnant. I was my mom's first child and she didn't have me til she was 36. I'm 32 now =/
Re: the real estate crap, ugh is right! But at least we are getting nibbles! It's a hundred year old house that needs a lot of work!
Hi don't and welcome! We can all be your buddies!!!!
As for me, even angrier this morning as up another pound. I seriously have to stop weighing myself so often. Could have a lot to do with cycle time or reaction to the med (good one!) but it still pisses me right off. Save reaction day, I faithfully worked out to the dripping sweat point and it should bloody well show. ARGH! Anyway, going to pretend I didn't see that and carry on. I think it is motivating to see results and conversely unmotivating when you don't. But I have read enough and lived through enough to know that I start really noticing my strength improving in about 2-3 weeks and real noticeable results physically around 2-3 months. So guess I shouldn't expect the world in 7 days. Don't know if I am posting this to share or convince myself, ha ha.
I have to say I am pretty tired today. Have a big workout day ahead of me (a workout I designed and a custom one on the menu today) so that will be challenging. Lots of regular chores and a couple of errands to run. Church, then a friend over for dinner and drinks tonight. Busy day.
How often and for how long does everyone work out? I have read that adults need a minimum of 30 minutes per day and more if you want to reach a specific weight loss or fitness goals. My specific goal is at least 40 per day and up for 6 of 7 days per week. This week will be 5. Sundays are my rest day!
Luckily though, the sun is out and that is motivating. It has been raining here most of the week, so happy to see the sun (still cold though). Where is everyone from? I am from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
As for gardening, I am just doing tomatoes and cucumbers this year and going to try some herbs in potters. Last year the lettuce was hard to manage and it is so much easier to just pick it up at the store, so going to just stick with the tomatoes and cukes. I have a friend, Sylvia, with a much bigger plot of land who grows asparagus (Yummmmmmmmmmm) and beans (yummmmmmmmmmmm) so she gives me tons of it throughout the spring/summer.

I have to get a new scale because SOMEONE (I don't know is taking the heat for it) gave my scale a bath so that water got inside it on the wires and everything and now it won't work.
I have read about the minimum being 30 minutes as well.. Yesterday I walked, hiked through the woods, did Pilate's, and stationary bike. Total time: 2 HOURS. I hope I can keep that up cuz I will loose this weight fast!
I really want to start gardening this year. Nothing too big since I have never done it before but I really want to try! My neighbor across the street has a GREAT garden! He improves on it every year and during the summer he brings veggies over a lot. Jealous of his garden!!
Hey dnt!
Gardening is fantastic and an absolutely good stress reliever for me. Find a good spot in your yard (where it has good sun for a good chunk of the day). Then dig it up, weed it out and mix in some good soil and manure (I use cow manure, miracle grow and some black soil/compost mix). Then plant as directed on the package or plant if using starter plants. Make sure it gets enough water (from the base of the plant where possible) and away you go. I have to admit, there is nothing better than home grown stuff. Nothing. Ask your neighbour for tips because they will know your soil better.
Let us know how it goes.

Hi, dnt! Welcome!
It is a beautiful day here! Hubby is putting up a storm door on our bedroom door (it goes out back to the patio) so we'll have more fresh air in our room.
He is also going to be putting a screen door in the kitchen, I'm just not sure if he'll get to that today. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful man in my life...I had to kiss a lot (and I mean A LOT) of frogs until I found my prince.
I stepped on the scale today and it still hasn't really moved. It probably won't tomorrow either because we're going out to the new mexican place here in town. I LOVE mexican food! And then we may be meeting some family out...my niece is turning 21.
Anyway, I'm going to get out and enjoy some of this beautiful weather we're having.
Hope you all have a great weekend!
Hey everyone!
Dntlookback9- welcome to the group, I am sending you a buddy request. I am trying to learn how to eat right and exercise so that way I can raise my son (2yr old) in a healthy lifestyle so he doesn't face the problems I have....I figure losing wieght comes with the territory.
Tough luck on the scale; I just bought a new one and keep it on a table so that way the little tike doesn't get ahold of it. Every morning I bring it down, weigh myself, record, and put back lol. Way to exercise, be careful not to burn out though...losing weight fast is awesome and all, but losing weight for life is indescribable (so I am told-obviously haven't gotten there yet).
My Chinese neighbors entire back yard is garden...not sure what they grow, if anything. They seem to do a lot of tending but no harvesting and no flowers so I don't know. They also don't speak a word of English.
A very long day today. I won't harp on every detail but will mention I made good food choices up until dinner (my dad made cheeseburgers). Foo, you mentioned Mexican is your favorite- my weakness has always been for cheeseburgers. What about everyone else?
Also, we managed to get lost in Walmart for what felt like centuries. My legs are soooo achey. How sad is that? Only to walk out with a box of diapers and 3 grocery bags. Walmart doesn't have nearly the selection of organic food like Hy-Vee does.
Beacher- you may have to hide that darn thing. I am glad you are not going to let it hinder your performance. I know exactly what you are saying about expecting the world in 7 days. I have ALWAYS been about immediate gratification, this site is really helping me stay patient in more areas than one. Currently I don't work out. period. This will change as of tomorrow since it is the beginning of my challenge. I will be exercising 30 minutes daily from here on out. I am currently residing in Iowa
corn capital of America. The weather was so-so today. Very windy but had some sunshiny moments. Dad is off to his annual golf tournament tomorrow so he's really hoping for the weather to cooperate.
Fookitty- Did the hubster get the doors up? That must be really exciting! Sounds like a nice layout. In the future I would like to invest in a screen door for my front door (I don't have a back door-just sliders out to the deck). Fresh air is heaven though ![]()
GB- at least it's organic :) It's good that you are getting nibbles. A ton of houses are going up for sale (some going back up from last summer) I think a large majority of them are overlooking minor details and asking too much. For example, the neighbors across the street listed their house last week or so and this morning I finally got online to see how much they wanted- $98,500. They posted pictures and could really use some help in the advertising department. It wasn't staged in a good way at all. I went through a long phase of HGTV viewing so I've picked up a trick or too on this sort of thing. Needless to say, there isn't a chance in you know where that they are getting 98,500.
Well I think this is lengthy enough, don't you? LOL! I can't wait to hear how you all are doing. Sounds like a few of us were up against a few weekend temptations...hope it went well!
Good morning all!
I indulged a bit too much in the vodka last night and my calories went through the roof, but I did do a wicked 1.5 hours of exercise and hoping to counter it!
I have to comment on the house pricing first because that just shocked the crud out of me! I am in a bungalow and paid (and still paying the mortgage on) $231k so $98k is knocking my socks off!!!!! I clearly need to retire in Iowa!!!!!
I think my favourite kind of indulgence would be steak and a stacked baked potatoe! Trust me, the steak will never go away, but the potatoe has to go. I guess this summer it will be steak and salad. Notice the steak will stay, lol. I saw a bumper sticker once that said, "I didn't fight my way to the top of the food chain to be a vegetarian" and I laughed my butt off at that and live by it. I appreciate people who are vegetarians or vegans, but I am a red meat loving gal. Esp. around cycle time. If I don't get red meat, I get lethargic, I mean badly lethargic.
Anyway, I think if we want to succeed, we need to account for the food and indulge in what we want, but make sure to counter it (exercise more to counter the calories). I want a lifestyle change, not a quick fix. So working towards that.

Good morning, everyone!
I forgot to say hi and welcome to Corry! Welcome and hello!
You were talking about housing prices...I paid $106,000 for my house a little over 2 years ago...it's a 2000 sq. ft. victorian. It was gutted and remodeled when we purchased it so it seemed almost like a brand new house. Unfortunately, we've found a lot of issues that we've had to fix ourselves which has cost us a lot out of pocket. Plus, we've been adding our own touches. Hubby got the storm door on our bedroom door yesterday and he's working on the screen door for the kitchen today. We're not doing a whole lot this year except for some smaller things...we put up ceiling fans in the bedroom and we're working on the doors. We are going to do more with landscaping (YAY!! I'm excited about this) and might put up a section of privacy fence so we can have cookouts outback with some privacy. The kitchen floor, which was new when we moved in, needs to be replace already because whoever installed it, had no idea how to install tile properly. Tiles and grout are cracking and it's starting to look pretty bad. It's a pretty big room so it's going to cost mucho $$$ to redo. We haven't decided yet what we want to put in here.
Beacher, my sister-in-law lived in Toronto. She grew up in Port Perry. She's living down here now (my brother met her on E Harmony) and she often comments on how much lower the cost of living and everything is down here.
Yesterday, I think I did pretty good with offsetting all of the calories I consumed from my mexican feast. I spent an hour on Wii fit, a couple of hours cleaning, and took a 40 minute walk. I hope to get some wii time in today and another walk. It's harder to get all of that exercise in during the week with not getting home until 5 and then having to make dinner and all the other stuff that comes along with being a homeowner/wife/mom/step-mom.
I was a little happy when I stepped on the scale this morning...214.6. It's down a little, but it's to the lower end of where I keep running into problems. I am just hoping I can keep it going...this is usually the point where my weight shoots back up. I can't seem to get below 214.2! Hopefully with a little extra work today, I will be able to get below 214 within the next day or so!
Anyway, I hope all of you have had a great weekend. Why is it that weekends go so quickly but the work week takes forever to get through???
Hope you all have a great day!
Good afternoon- hope everyone is having a lovely day. I can't stay on too long, I need to get this darn house in order. Hurricane Christian came through again. (Christian is the name of my son, by the way.)
I told you my dad made cheeseburgers last night, right? I didn't finish the thought out though...I ate two of them. Followed by a massive piece of ice cream cake left over from my mom's birthday. Needless to say, the scale was up nearly a pound today. Dinner at the folks will be one of my struggles throughout this entire journey. The difference is, I didn't do any exercising to burn any of it off.
I'm ok though, I'm learning and getting better as the days go on. My dad and I are huge carnivores so I can completely relate to the love of steak beacher. Yum.
LOL! Agreed. Through watching HGTV, I have gained an appreciation for what kind of houses money can buy when in the right location. $231k would buy you a really nice house here and $106k would buy very similar sq. footage Foo, you must live 'round here lol. And before I forget....apparently teaching workshops is where the money is at
I would give beacher grief too but don't know what she does...works for the mob perhaps?
I just looked quick on a real estate site and picked one close to yours beacher (239k) and it puts you one block down and and 3 blocks over from me (a relatively nice neighborhood). It buys you 3,564 sq ft. The description: Features hardwood floors, 2 fireplaces, main floor laundry, inground pool with new liner (2010), cabana, sprinkler, and security system. 4 Bedrooms, 3 Bathroom, and 2 car oversized-heated garage. Excuse me while I dream of owning a heated garage.
I would also love a privacy fence Fookitty, and I can relate to previous owners doing their own handy work and completely jacking things up. Glad to hear the scale is cooperating. Keep the positive vibes flowing and I will definately be routing for you!
Ok really been on here too long. Originally was just going to log breakfast and lunch but couldn't resist catching up on the thread. My new indulgence and drug of choice apparently. Now onto dishes and laundry. & nbsp; PS. Day one of my challenge and already went for a walk this morning...it was at least 40 minutes and a mixture of flat, up, and down. It did wonders for my mood. It's been a really nice day with the exception of the wind every now and again. Ok really going now. Happy Sunday gals!
Hello!
I just joined CC a few days ago! My weight loss journey has actually started today. Right now I am 201lbs which is the heaviest I have ever been. I am 5'5/5'6 and 21 years old. I went grocery shopping today and bought new running shoes! I'm ready to go....
I read through many of your posts and am hoping to join in! You guys seem like you would be great motivators!
Amanda
Welcome Amanda! Glad to hear you're ready to go!
240, I absolutely love burgers as well. Actually, I love all food, but I am a big fan of meat. The problem with burger is that I can't eat a lot of it or on consecutive days because...well...it doesn't like to leave my system and can make me feel pretty miserable.
I have tried "bogus burgers" aka veggie burgers and can't handle the nasty tasting things! I will enjoy a burger once in a while.
I did another 40 minute walk, mixed up hill down hill and flat, more wii today, and did some stuff around the house. I've been doing pretty good with my calories today. There's 3 1/2 hours until I go to bed so there's plenty of time to mess up. LOL
I wouldn't say all the money is in teaching workshops, although I wish it was!
We've gotten pretty good with budgeting our money.
Anyway, enjoy your week!
Hi Amanda! We're a fun bunch!!!
We're still trying to figure out where to put a garden at our new place. It's beautiful but 95% rocky glade with a nice mix of con/dec trees. So wherever we put it, we'll need to bring in some top soil. I so miss our awesome garden at our old (my childhood home) house.
@240-We're actually standing at $75k at the moment. It needs a new roof and electrical done and a few other things. The kitchen area was an add-on in the 20's. so the roof goes from very steep 8/12 pitch to barely 4/12 pitch over the kitchen and that's led to problems. We had a few rehabbers look at it. They say they loved it, the lay-out and the tremendous potential, and all agreed our asking price was not off the mark. But the week after they came by is when we here in the St. Louis MO region had all the bad tornadoes (just prior to the devastation just south of us). So they probably had some serious jobs to get to before they could get back to us. We have the one trying to get a loan so.. Who knows, we'll see. I know it will sell eventually, it's a great location. And 4 nibbles in the 2 weeks we've had the sign up is a pretty good start, I think.
@fookitty- I too am blessed with a wonderful hubby. I, however, can count on one hand the number of people I've dated. We've been together since I was 18, so 14 years! And happily married since 2006! I'd LOVE some screen doors on the front and back!!! And I loooooooooooooove Mexican food!!! Esp. chiles rellenos :)
Hey beacher you are so my twin!!! I love veggies but I am such a carnivore!!! And my (not tooo often) indulgence is a good amaretto sour! Sounds like we're working on the same attitude too. I'm not going to give up everything at once. It usually ends up counter-productive. I've done great since using this site! I'm honest with myself, even if one or two days I go way above my cal goal, I know tomorrow I can make better choices.
Well I think dinner is almost done. I'll probably get back on here after my workout.
C'ya! :)
Welcome to CC amanda! We'd love for you to join in and share how things are going. These gals are a great support system and are indeed awesome motivators :)
LOL Foo! I was just saying to my dad, that the problem isn't that I love one specific food too much, I just love all food in general too much. I have never tried a veggie burger....I don't think I could either. I am thinking I may try a turkey burger though- anyone have one before?
GB- Sorry to hear you are located in that region :( I'm glad you are putting up an honest price. People around here just post way to high and refuse to go lower. I understand not wanting to run at a loss....but do they? Who wants to pay two mortgages?! Last summer, my neighbors across the street put theirs up for $105k and had quite a few people coming around looking but nothing ever came of it. I imagine once people saw it for what it was and found out the price- they walked. Mother's Day last year the for sale sign came down. They definately moved out, nobody moved in. It's been vacant ever since. Such a waste. It also doesn't help the neighbors that just listed across the street- as they are 2 houses down and it's making the neighborhood look scruffy lol.
OMG! I was just getting ready to write about how my ex and his kids must have found somewhere else to shack up when all of a sudden who pulls up. WTF?! Who lugs around a 3 and 4 yr old uuntil 11:30 at night. This guy. Bummer anyway. He stayed somewhere else last night and it was heaven. I realized this morning that it is May 1st, I can deal with this until the end of the month. ( I may have to whine about it every once and awhile though- but will definately keep it to a minimum lol)
Well all, I am going to finish logging my calories and I shall check back in tomorrow. No matter what, starting tomorrow night, I go to bed by 10pm. Plain and simple- no excuses.
Hi Amanda and welcome!
It's the perfect time and age to get your weight under control and being younger, you will have some good numbers to post up on here! So congratulations and tell us all about how you intend on doing it. What will be your exercise, what are you pitfalls food wise and so on? Welcome and let's do it!
I'm going to try my best not to weigh myself until Friday. It gets me too depressed. Had a nice day yesterday, except for the rain. But got lots of chores completed and even a nap (something I tend to do if I am ill, lol, so it was nice for a change).
Back to work today as I didn't win the lottery on the weekend. Scared to death of what I will find on my desk (no one does my work when I am away, lol). I find it a lot harder to get in exercise when I am working, so the plan (if not raining too hard) is to go for a walk on lunch and then do the wii when I get home. Got a nice big healthy salad for lunch, my hummus and crackers for snack & some cut up cantaloupe. So good for today. I always eat oatmeal at work, with some almonds and craisins, find that it keeps me full the entire morning. What do you all eat for breakfast?
Yikes on the housing prices. Like I said, in a small bungalow, maybe 680sq ft. Property itself is 25x100 I think. But, $231k. From what you are saying, I could be living in a pretty swank place there. My house just got re-assessed last year at $310k so my taxes have gone up. 6 years here and $79k increase in value. Not that I am going anywhere, but nice to know it has increased in value.
Never ending things to be done with a house let me tell you. I have a number of big ticket expenses that I am addressing as time and money allows. Quite a few I have to save for, so they will have to wait. Going to put the new eavestroughs on the line of credit for now. Getting quotes this week.
Ok, time to get ready for work or will be late. Have a great day all.
beacher
Thanks for all of the warm welcomes!
Well, I will be joining the gym today. I used to love running, so I plan to try to get back into the swing of it! I'm also going to do some light weight lifting and will be walking/jogging with the dog most nights.
So far my calorie counting is going really well!
Morning everyone!
The sun is shining here, I have a sub sandwich and a bowl of fruit waiting for me for lunch, and I am going to get out and take a walk too. I'm just in a really good mood and thought I should get on here quick to share. Lately I feel I have been coming off like such a downer lol. I will check in with everybody tonight though :)
Happy Monday!
240- if we were all happy all the time we wouldn't be here to share support and make some new buddies buddy! :)
Beacher- I know the feeling- On one hand it's great that your property values are going up, but on the other hand so do your taxes :( Our new house is wonderful! We were able (due to my father and uncles selling their old farm) to build new. So we have some rural acreage and we live in a house with my parents, but we each have our own side totally separated by a firewall. It looks like an old farmhouse but inside it's like a duplex. Each with a basement. and though we spent some time in our basements in the last few weeks during storms, thank the Lord, we were spared. The grapefruit size hail wasn't more than a couple miles away though! =S
Well I'm going to go make me a mushroom mushroom pizza, digest a bit , then workout!
If any of you like mushrooms, you gotta try this-
*Take a large portabella cap, rinse well/dry thouroughly, *spread on a good amount of tomato paste, *add some crushed red pepper flakes and some Emeril Essence if you like, *add some Jimmy Dean turkey sausage crumbles and maybe a few bacon bits, *add some sliced baby portabellas or creminis etc.and maybe some diced bell peppers, *then sprinkle some mozzerella cheese on top with a dash of basil and greek seasoning if you like. *Pop it in a 425' oven for 20-25 mins. I like the cheese to be a bit burnt. It has very few calories but the mushrooms give you some bulk. MMMMMmmmmmmm good! :)
My hubby hates mushrooms but he'll be a bit late tonight.
Talk to y'all later!!!
