you have to create a 3,500 calories minus in your total intake-calorie spend to lose a pound. if you want to lose two a week, you have to create a 7,000 calorie deficit from your normal calorie spend. how much activity do you do a day, meaning walking, running? also, by using your calculators here at the site, what should be your daily spend to maintain your current weight?

this might sound weird but youre a teenager too so you would understand! i keep losing 2lbs on the weekends, when i wake up until 12 or 1pm and im not that hungry so i just eat when im hungry usually once a day (instead of my regular 3-4 meals a day ^.^) but i gain them back during the week because i do eat a lot because excersice makes me so hungry.

so maybe if you eat less and exercise at least 2 times a week? i lost 13lbs this summer by excersicing 3 times a week and drinking water instead of coke or anything else.

First of all, if she's a teen, she's already eating close to the bare minimum (1500 for a sedentary, small female teen). If she's exercising, she'd need to be eating more.

Not everyone can lose 2lb/week. I know that 1-2lb/week is considered "healthy", but another measure is 1% of your body weight/week. So unless you are 200lbs, you shouldn't be losing 2lb/week. And if you are 200 lb, you should be eating more than 1600.

Why do you "need" to reach your goal by december?

My stats are very different than yours ( 5'10" male 211 lbs) but I think the general formula for weight loss is still the same.

If I do everything absolutely perfectly throughout the week, I can lose 2-3 lbs a week. The eating right "dieting" part isn't such a pain in the ass for me anymore, the struggle is exercise.

In order to create a 1000 calorie deficit every day (the only way to lose 2 lbs a week) and still get enough calories to avoid starvation mode, I need to work out like a maniac: at least an hour EVERY DAY. Cardio on odd days, weights on even days, with one day off a week If feel like I absolutely need it. So, make sure you are eating enough of the right foods and take a multivitamin too, and workout until you feel like you cant go any further. Then workout some more.

Finally, no one "needs" to lose weight by a certain deadline but I know we all want to lose weight much faster than is humanly possible.

1000 calorie deficit per day.

amputation.

what are goo things to eat?

If you want to try to lose 2 lbs a week I dont think anyone should be telling you not too. Just do it in a healthy manner.

For me to lose 2lbs per week I have to eat healthy always, no cheating! and i workout at high intensity6 days per week.

A sample of what i eat in a day:

breakfest: 2 organic eggs, oatmeal

lunch: 3 oz chicken breast stirfry with red and yellow peppers

snack: yogurt and apple

dinner: 6oz salmon salad with cucumber and organic balsamic vigarette dressing

If I am hungry throughout the day I also allow myself a protein shake or bar (low cal, low carb, low sodium)

As for excercise.... this is the hard part for a lot of people. I am at the gym for one hour on modays wednesday and fridays. (kickboxing, weight training etc...) thurdays I am there for 2 hours (1 hour kick boxing 1 hour interval training/running on treadmill) and saturdays for 3 hours (kickboxing, bootcamp, then abs)

If you want to lose the weight its possible but it takes work!

anybody asking for "tips to lose 2lbs a week" is clearly looking for some easy answer that goes beyond basic calorie control by eating right and exercising.

if you want i can suggest

lemonade diet

porridge diet

vegetable diet

bacon diet

alcohol diet

actually if you want youcan just substitute the first word for anything and just eat that in a controlled calorie amount

otherwise you can look at the tools on this website and do it the healthy way

Oh, please, losing 2 a week is perfectly safe. Being 200 pounds is not. It's OK to create that decline in daily intake for a period of a few months. All the health experts do state that 1-3 pounds a week loss is normal.

The OP doesn't weigh 200 pounds. Based on another post, she's in the 130s.  Which means that 1% of her body weight would be 1.3lb/week, max. Not 2lbs.

Not to mention, she's a teen, and therefore should not cut her calories too much.

it is safe

and yeah it's probably not as doable for the OP who is 130

but also, I find when people come to this website in particular, that has so many tools and information about how to lose weight, and they just want a quick answer that sums it up for them in a sentence

it's usually for a quick fix

i'm not saying losing 2 pounds in general is wrong

andi'm pretty sure they don't say 1-3 pounds

it's usually 1-2 pounds/week
