How to lose 10 pounds in a week?

Quote  |  Reply

Hi

I'm trying to lose about 8-10 pounds in a week. That's all I need to lose. I'm so close!

What I'm really targeting is my belly and inner thighs. I know you can't really target a certain area, but losing any weight in those areas would be great. Any exercises you know of to help target fat in that area? Thanks!

That's a stupidly unhealthy amount to lose in 1 week

Not helpful. ^^ How about 5 pounds a week? How do I do that?

1. you can't target fat loss

2.  the only way you could lose 10lb in one week would be amputation, or extreme dieting, and there's no guarantee for either.

Could I lose 5 pounds a week? ^^

You are 5'4" and 106 lb -- no, nobody responsible is going to offer ideas for you to lose any more weight.

5lb is just as unattainable for the non-morbidly obese as 10 -- when you lose that kind of weight quickly it is usually water weight -- you don't have any extra weight to lose...

Yes I do. Trust me. I have a totally unflat belly and my thighs are too wide, mainly in the top inner area. So what about a way to lose about 8 pounds in 3 weeks?

Since you must weigh about 1,000 pounds to be considering this, your sedentary maintenance is 6500 calories. You need a deficit of 5,000 calories per day, so eat 1500 calories per day and you will meet your goal. Good luck!

You just need to tone, because even someone seriously underweight will not have a flat tummy unless it is toned. Do some crunches.

5'4" and 106 pounds? You are underweight. You need to gain weight, not lose it. You probably ought to seek some professional help.

I'm not underweight. But I'm not underweight either. I'm just trying to get a flat stomach. Enough with the negativity.
Be happy with you. Tone your body.

Actually, at 5'4" and 106 lbs you are underweight.

People aren't being negative towards you, they are trying to help you- because you obviously need it!!

It's not negativity, it is common sense.

Eat maintenance calories and work out. You wont lose any "weight" but your body shape will change and you will tone up (I.E. flat tummy that you are apparently happy to risk injuring yourself for).

Cut off whichever arm you don't use for writing/eating, or cut off a leg you don't mind using. Another way to lose weight that fast would be to cut off your head since you aren't using it. ;) hehe.

Seriously though, as the others have pointed out, you are underweight. Try gaining a few pounds of muscle by increasing your calories and doing things like weights. Then you'll look healthier than before. :)

Have you thought about eating normally and just woking out your "unflat belly and thighs" a little.

You are 5'4" and 106lbs if you REALLY think you need to lose more weight you need to talk to your doctor. There's no way you can cut that much weight 5 or 10lbs in a healthy way.

So work out and eat healthy to get some toneness! Don't try to drop weight. But no way is this going to happen in a week.

I know that many people have been very nasty and rude to you about what is typically a very touchy subject with EVERYONE...body image.

I have to agree that you are underweight and it would be wise to work on gaining weight as muscle. Start doing some light wieght training (light weights and lots of reps) to tone your body without bulking up. You will look so much healthier with a toned body and you will have the flat tummy you are looking for!

". Start doing some light wieght training (light weights and lots of reps) to tone your body without bulking up."

NO. STUPID MISGUIDED IDEA. DO NOT LISTEN.

Women cannot 'bulk up' without taking steroids/supplements, its just physiologically impossible.

light weights with lots of reps equals time wasted, and no muscle gained. If you want a lean body, something that resembles a dancer or perhaps a bikini model, YOU MEED TO LIFT HEAVY WEIGHTS. LESS REPS. MORE WEIGHTS.

Giselle didn't get her body from lifting 3lbs pink dumbbells 100 times, she got her body from hardcore Romanian deadlifts.

You can do it! My mom has been working out with this kid who did it this week! He has been working out at 5:30 in the morning, going to track practice after school, and working out aging at 5:30 at night every day! He has been doing this on a diet but not a diet like eating 300 calories a day which is impossible! It's caled Paleo and u can look it up, it basically re-forms the food guide lines set by the government but takes out the fatty things u don't need and u eat with better replacements! They eat full meals but in a healthier fashion! The type of workout the have been doing is called cross fit! You should try it, it's fun! Hope this helps

People can sound quite mean in their posts. I don't know if they realise it.

As everyone has said, you shouldn't lose any more weight. If you want a flatter stomach, you should just tone up. You would need to eat more to gain muscle though, but it shouldn't be fat gain.

However, if you're not having enough calories, your body might be using muscle for energy anyway, so...

Why don't you increase your calories for a couple of weeks, see how much you weigh,  then continue for another week and see how much you weigh again, to see if you have increased your metabolism. If you gain, then don't cut back, do some sit ups or weights or something to tone up your muscles.

Your current BMI is 18.2, which is underweight (normal is 18.5-25). Losing 10 lbs whether in a week, (which would involve major sugery) or in 10 weeks, would give you a BMI of 16.5, well into the anorexic range.

This would be utter madness, and like Coach K said, no-one here will help you do that.

Unfortunately, you can't target fat loss in any case - all you can do is tone up any perceived 'problem' areas.

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
