Count me in! 5'10" and currently 197 looking to be 150 by December 1st of this year! When is weigh in? What is your daily caloric intake? I am not sure how many calories I should be eating really lose.
All right group-
I like what the 60's group has done, so maybe we could play off their group in a way... thanks Beachbud for the information!
We will have our first weigh on June 18 and they will be every Monday. If for some reason you cannot participate with your stats on Mondays or forget, don't worry... just participate and add your info whenever you can do it. So this will be the schedule for the rest of June- so mark your calenders...

When you post for the week, please add this information to help everyone get to know you--
*Screen Name:
*Age:
*Height:
*Weight on June 18: (This is what we will base our weight loss stats on every week)
*Current Weight: (Only starting June 25 and beyond)
*Goal Weight:
*Positive Choices:
Also, since weight loss is such a personal and sometimes hard thing to accomplish, lets add at the end of each weekly post a positive decision you made in regards to food or exercise for the week. It could be something as little as taking a short walk around the block even when you are tired or saying "no" to an unhealthy snack. There is no shame, so don't feel like it has to be huge because believe me- mine will probably all involve saying "no" to chocolate for the second time in a day! :)
I hope this is not confusing to anyone. If anyone has any questions or comments, please contribute. I will probably post my June 18 stats in the morning because that's when I feel the best about my body. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I started at 203.7lbs back in february of this year, and as of today I had loss 40.6 lbs so yes is possible. if you start a diet thinking that you will need to deprive yourself and eat only vegetables, it will make it had to stick to ( I had ice cream, cake, chocolate and multiple things in this 19 weeks, but all with moderation) and I weight myself every day, so I know how my weight fluctuates, sometimes is annoying when you see a 2 or 4 lbs increase, but a few days later you see it decrease again. so good luck to you
Oh yay! I am so excited, I totally understand Mondays being "heavy" days, as is the same with me! It's so weird! But hey whatever works I am so in.
Sharing recipes and meal ideas would be awesome, I am currently vegetarian TRYING to convert to veganism but the cheese has got me man, so I have a few fun nutritious ideas most definitely and love experimenting with new ones!

I am happy that this works for you but when you get old everything changes including metabolism (probably from years of losing and regaining). I like to think of it as a lifestyle and not a diet. The word DIET always seemed to give the impression that it is a temporary thing. If you want to keep the weight off, I don't think you can ever go back to the way you ate before. There is nothing wrong with a little treat now and again if you can handle it and keep it in control - unfortunately I can't. If we have something really yummy I will ask my hubby to give me a bit - that way I get the taste without all the calories of having my own. When I get closer to my goal maybe I can afford a few more little splurges - 267 2 years ago - now 207 .... slow but steady! Cheers to you, and good luck!
Can I join too? I'm just over 5'8" and aiming to lose about 60 lb, which is almost a third of my current weight. My weight's been all over the place for years (not helped by an overactive thyroid and subsequent treatment, which was successful but left me much heavier than I'd been before), but I'm determined to get to a healthy weight.

Pistachios! They have saved me from binge eating a couple of times....
OK, kind of off track here, but how the heck do you keep from binging on pistachios? Myself, I love them sooooooo much and they are just soooooo addicting. I can't help but eat waaaaasay toooo many! Once I start it's like I just can't stop. Than there is all the sodium. I hear them say they are the healthiest nut and all, which made me soooo happy until I realized how high my sodium intake is and how I struggle daily to keep it down. So now, sadly, I avoid pistachios. I miss them too.

The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
