I Lost 4 Pounds In 1 DAY?!

Quote  |  Reply

I just started this yesterday and i weighed 129 pounds, usually i weigh my self every morning, and this morning i weighed 125 pounds. this always happens to me when i try to lose weight and i'm not complaining, it just seems weird, maybe i have really high metabolism or something? I have no idea.

I'm not even starving my self, (yesterday i ate really bad for my first day back on my diet, I ate, 3 pancakes for breakfast/lunch and for dinner i had spaghetti?

When you start a diet it is common to lose a bunch of water weight.  It usually happens during the first few days or even up to two weeks.  Then things slow down.  You need to understand it is just water because it will come and go and you shouldn't feel like you are getting fat again if you gain a bit.  You also should not expect to continue losing 4 pounds a day.

I looked at your stats and your goal is unrealistic. With a height of 5'7'' and a weight of 105 pounds, you would have a BMI of 16.4; severely underweight. I too am 5'7" and your age, with the same starting weight. Now I weigh 118 and I am perfectly happy. 118 is a little on the thin side, but I am a runner, so I need to be light.

Saying that you want to get down to 105 and "be healthy" is hilarious. You could seriously hurt yourself in the process. This is coming from someone who tried to model, and I say, IT IS NOT WORTH IT! You'll screw up your metabolism (which could lead to weight issues later on in life) trying to get down to 105.

Please don't abuse this site to become unhealthy, get an eating disorder, or whine about how you need to lose weight. Because, in reality, you don't. Don't do this to yourself.

This is normal! If I eat really healthy, I would lose like 1-2 pounds a day. Even though most of it IS water weight, you'll still see a difference in the mirror.

Don't get carried away though!!!

Agreed....

I ain't raggin' on you either girl(ohhmyy93) but I get annoyed when I read unrealistic goals like yours.. all for what? To model? I'm no longer a model and let me tell you, when I was one, I never let any photographer or client tell me that I had to be 105 lbs. Unrealistic and not beautiful at all.. When I was modeling, I was 150 lbs. I wasn't overweight or obese, I have a high muscle mass.

The weight you are at now is perfect.. if you want to tone your body, build some muscle.. I'm going to stop here because I don't want you to think I'm ripping you up, it sounds like you have self-esteem issues. Good luck with whatever you decide to do, come up with something more realistic though. =]

P.S. It sounds like you lost some water weight.

According to the National Institute of Heath, your BMI would be 16.4 at 105lbs.  Have you seen the starving children in Etheopia?  Put your face on their bodies and there you have it.

bryndhildr was very appropriate in stating not to 'abuse this site to become unhealthy'.  In addition, the majority of members here will not tolerate it.  We are here to support healthy lifestyles, not to encourage people with unrealistic and unhealthy self images.

at your age and height you should keep the weight you currently have ... don't be stupid trying to lose more weight or you'll become anorexic and you'll have a life full of hospital visits if nothing else ... BTW, where are your parents?  Do they know what you're doing? I have a daughter your age and she tries to starve herself b/c she thinks she's fat ... typical MTV syndrome as I call it ... I make sure she eats 6 balanced meals a day and I always talk to her about the potential risks and complications of doing stupid things like trying to starve yourself to 105lbs ... don't become another MTV poster child, it's not worth your life and your health!

You're not kidding.  It seems like there is a giant surge right now.  Maybe it's the summer, bikinis, boys, whatever, but please!  And try as you might, these girls (and some boys too) are freeking killing themselves.  Hence the phrase 'dying to be thin'.....

Some of these posts are so frightening you hope they are bogus but know they are only the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

WORD. I also don't really understand the constant need to have the 'lowest healthy weight', aka, a BMI of 18.5-19.5. At 5'2, I could technically get down to about 107 pounds and still be considered a 'healthy' BMI. But...why? I'm not going to be any healthier at 107 than I would be at my goal of 120 (BMI 21.9)...

This might get me in trouble but unless someone is under 5 feet tall (and 4'11.5 doesn't count), teenage girls or adult women weighing under 100 pounds just kinda creeps me out. I'm sure it works for SOME people, but I think that number is far smaller than those who try for it. It just feels like a child's weight, y'know?

At 5'7, 105 pounds is not healthy. Period.

Not even advocating this, but in Milan and Madrid the modeling industry will not allow models to work unless they meet a BMI of at least 18 due to the death of Luisel Ramos.  Unfortunately it is not being enforced and several models, including 2 sisters who died within 3 months of each other, continue to starve themselves.

Why these girls feel it necessary to try to be like the .1% of the WORLD is beyond me.  Like the male poster wrote, where are the parents?!?!

These girls will eventually be at peace with themselves someday, and when they do, they'll most likely be at a normal weight. Isn't it better to love yourself when you are thriving, healthy, and not neccessarily the skinniest in the world, as opposed to loving yourself on your death bed due to anorexia?

How about leaving this site for those who want to get to a HEALTHY weight and maintain it, not those who want to become underweight "models"?

Thanks for listening to my rant, I think I'm done now. Lol.

hi  girl. I read your bio. and goals. I know where you are coming from. Please, please, please talk to an adult about your goals. I've been there and done that. Right now you cant see what your doing to your body. You are in danger of screwing yourself up later in life. Bone and muscle loss,  not to mention other things like having kids later. And listen to running_for_roses , it will lead to weight problems later in life . I'm living proof.
