Could making runny yogurt be an alternative to cream?
I forgot to leave the lids off the jars in my yogurt maker. When it was done, the yogurt was extra watery, but when it was mixed together, it was runny- like cream.
I put it over fruit and I wouldn't have known it was yogurt and not cream.
I wonder how versatile it would be compared to cream. That's about 50 calories instead of 190.

I made a quinoa dish the other day. Boiled quinoa, grilled vegetables, sweet potato and tofu. I mixed pesto and yogurt into it. It was amazing! Nice and rich without the fatty coating inside your mouth. I use yogurt instead of ice cream too. I definitely think you can. As far as cream in coffees? Not so sure, but food wise it's amazing! Plain yogurt for savory items and a good vanilla for sweet items.
Try this for breakfast....
Bake a sweet potato and cut it open like you would a regular baked potato. Then, stuff it with vanilla yogurt, add chopped almonds and cinnamon on top. Maybe a dash of cocoa and it's so delicious! I eat it for dessert as well. Top it with a bit of honey or agave for extra sweetness!

You can tell yourself that yoghurt is the same as cream and the ruse works for a while, but then all of a sudden that niggling bit of truth from the back brain sneaks in and you admit the truth.
It is all that FAT that makes cream delicious.
Yoghurt is wonderfull in its own right, but it's just not cream.
