ACK!!!!!!!   I go to see my doc on Saturday, and my weight on the damn scale at the Y was 400 on the money this morning!!  That means with clothing I'm going to be more like 405 at the Doc's office!!  A 5 pound gain over last month!!  I just want to RAGE!!!

But it's my fault!  While I am mkicking ass and taking names at the gym, I give in way too much to the temptation of that damn Cherry Coke!  Like I have said before, the damn stuff is worse than cocaine!!  And not only in trying to kick it, but in how a nice fountain Cherry Coke is almost like a couple of lines of coke. 

If I need a boost to get me going in the morning, nothing like that cherry coke.  If I'm feeling sluggish, hit up the fountain for some of that bubbely elixer!  It's great stuff that I wish I could drink all day long, but one of those 32oz cups takes about 20 minutes on the recline bike to cover the cals.

I also have been using all the crap going on with the family as a reason not to eat as I should.  Easy to explain away that Quarter pounder with cheese when you're grabbing it while headed to the hospital (oh how I hate hospitals). 

So the goal for the next month is to get the food thing under control again.  I have to start thinking ahead, and figure out a way to eat right even in the midst of an emergancy.  Not an easy thing to do. 

I know, I shouldn't let it bug me this much!  In the best shape of my life PERIOD!!!  Kinda sad saying that at 47, but it's the damn truth.  And my health, except for that 100 pounds, is excellent. 

But it is bugging the hel out of me that I can't regain control over my daily cal intake.  Makes me wonder about my commitment sometimes.

have you tried switching to diet cherry coke? my FH switched from regular to diet and lost 10 lbs w/o even trying... you will get used to the taste.

Now you just get a hold of yourself Duke.  You are doing amazingly well and 5lbs is nothing!

As for the Cherry Coke - you already know you have to plan it into your routine.  I can't see you giving it up.  So just let it be!

It sounds like your world is a bit of a mess right now.  Go easy on yourself and realize that you may not make great strides right now.  But you can keep yourself from back sliding!

Print out all the nutrition guides to all the fast food places near your house, work and hospital.  Highlight all the food that will fit into your meal planning and keep these in your car.

If you have to stop you will know what you can eat that will keep you on track. 

Also if you are spending a lot of time in the car, fill a small cooler with "legal" snacks so you are not tempted by the stuff you know is dangerous.

Well the good news here is you seem to know exactly where your problem areas are. That alone is tough to figure out for a lot of us!

The Cherry Coke Zero is a good suggestion. I'm a Diet Coke addict and I can't drink Coke Zero products because they taste WAY too sugary for me, so that might come close to the real deal as far as taste.

Can't help you with the drive thru dilema. I fall victim to that myself. You get busy and it's just easier to eat Burger King on the fly rather than planning out meals. I guess it's just making new habits which is like 1000x harder than it sounds, I know.

Diet Cherry Coke isnt too bad. There are only 4 diet sodas I think taste good. Diet cherry Coke, Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi, Diet Vanilla Pepsi and Diet Dr. Pepper

Diet Cherry Coke is a great suggestion and tastes pretty good too.  Another suggestion, sparkling water.  Arrowhead makes a variety of flavors, my favorite is orange.  It is carbonated, so it takes away my urge to have a soda.

Also, the next time you have the drive through urge, try a regular cheese burger instead of the Quarter Pounder (also has no mayo on it).  You will save a ton of calories with just that one swap.  And you get to eat a real cheeseburger.

Keep on plugging!  You are doing great!  Half the battle is starting in the first place!

 I second this! Cherry Coke Zero isn't as sugary but it has such a ton of that cherry deliciousness!

As for the cheeseburgers, just cook your own at home. They're way better homemade than at McD's anyway.

When switching to diet I had to go with a completely different soda because the taste was just too off for me.  Diet Cherry Vanilla coke/pepsi seems to work for me mostly.

As far as snacks go, if you have a Trader Joe's nearby pick up a bunch of the single serving nut mixes, the nuts keep well and are a life saver when you need calories, also luna bars, the chocolate peppermint stick is awesome!

Thanks everyone!!  Will give the cherry coke zero a try, or maybe go back to making Iced tea again.  I use just enough simple syrup in the tea to take off that bitter edge.  But damn do I enjoy that Fountain cherry coke Cool

And as for the take out, the more I think about when I do the really bad food (Rally's/Checker's) is when I am in a low and looking for comfort.  And those chicken wings Rally's just introduced are simply to die for.  But everything at Rally's is good, just not good for you.  After all, Rally's doesn't post nutritional info about there food.  Gotta be a reason for that!  Still love them wings though!! Tongue out

I can't give up my classic Coke either. I just take into account the calories and add them to my daily allowance. That way you make sure you don't gain weight. I only have one can a day and some days I don't have any. If you feel you need a boost during the day have a cup of tea, it has a similar effect for less calories :)

 

Personally I think the diet varieties are vile and they are also far worse on your teeth, so my dentist tells me. Also too much of the "Zero" stuff can have a laxative effect on your body.

 

By the way these days Coca Cola is made from "spent" coca leaves but oddly it does still have that addictive quality:)
