I'm 16, 4' 11'' and 111 lbs. I've been worried about my weight for about 3 years from now. I've done a lot of diets, but I always get the weight back, and I haven't done crash diets or anything, just healthy diets (nutritionist I mean). My weight goal would be 105-106lbs (48kg). I'm not so far for my weight goal, but it's so hard to get it! I make big efforts every day.. I go to the gym almost everyday, at least 4-5 days a week, aprox. 2 hours each session. I make different routines, it includes weight lifting, cardio (1 hour), some days spinning, aerobics, something like that, I really like to go to the gym, I enjoy it a lot. I have a diary where I write down every thing I eat, I count my calories (around 1200), and I usually burn at the gym 600-800.
I can see differences if I eat very small portions o if I eat 1100-1200 calories from healthy food and if I exercise almost everyday, sometimes I feel that I have no energy, but I don't care too much about it if I can see results. I don't know what's wrong with me, I eat healthy, exercise myself, burn more that I consume.. But I've been reading this forums and I've noticed that some people said that they loose weight increasing their metabolism, eating more calories, around 2500 and burning a lot, I can do that, I think I burn a lot at the gym, buy I'm so afraid to eat more, because I gain weight so easily, and I wouldn't want to see all my efforts go down just because I'd like to have more energy during all day and get a better metabolism. I'll really appreciate if you can tell me suggestions, o explain me a little bit more about this metabolism thing, or if you recommended me to eat more calories, or what should I do, because I read about the BMR -mine it's around 1300 calories per day- but I'm not eating that much, so do you thing my body doesn't let me loose more weight because he's in alert thinking that he has to reserve every calorie he gets? Is this a possibility? . Sometimes my family tell me that I should eat more because all the exercise I make, but I want to loose not to gain.. Please help me, I'm really really desperate right now..
Maybe I have to, but I wanted that somebody explain me who to get my metabolism faster and why do they think I'm not loosing weight? Please someone else try to help me!
I don't think it has anything to do with your age because I am 20, done growing and also 4'11 with the same exact problem as you! This was the message I posted on a previous forum:
Something is up. I was able to maintain my ideal weight for about 4 months. But then over holidays/vacationing I gained 7-10 pounds. I've been trying to lose this weight for over 4 months now (a few pounds goes a long way on short women).
I am 4'11 and have calculated my basal calorie intake to be anywhere from 1500-1800. This however seems way off in practice because if I intake anymore than 1100 calories in a day, I will immediately weigh more the next morning. The only way I will lose weight is if I eat less than 1000 calories which I know is not recommended and this loss is only temporary because it just comes back when I eat the normal amount on any given day. It seems as though my body is way out of wack. I also exercise every day and burn 500 calories 3-5 days a week.
I am generally a very healthy eater (vegetarian/semi-vegan for over a year). Help!!
So I have decided that the problem is that my metabolism has gotten so slow from not getting enough calories for so long. So I am going to increase my calorie intake with healthy foods while also increasing the amount I excercise to match. Even though I fear I'll gain weight, I think this is the only solution to ever lose weight in the future. I suggest you do the same. Let me know how it goes and good luck!
We have exactly the same problem, I can believe it. But I'm so glad because find you and know that you have the same problem makes me feel like i'm not alone or i'm not going crazy when i said that i gained weight from one day to other.
Can we try to get out metabolims faster together, eating a little bit more and exercise 5 days a week, I'd like to do this with you! =)
Yes definitely! Message me anytime :)
Ok yeedy! Message me too!
I tried to add you to my friends but I couldn't..
So, we start tomorrow as weight loss buddies =)
I'm 5'2" and was very active when I had my metabolism measured. It was low, when it should have been high. As a result I've had a hard time losing weight.
I went on a diet a year ago that among the benefits was increasing metabolism. I noticed when my metabolism was kicking in because I started being hungry in the morning and sometimes through out the day even when I increased my calorie intake. It featured balance calories, 3 meals & 2 snacks, like the cc recommended diet. My metabolism increased at the 1200 calorie level but I gave up the diet when it went to 1600 calories. I couldn't stand the feel. Didn't lose any real weight but did appreciate the metabolism change.
So I got ready to start losing weight again and signed on to cc. I'm increasing my calorie count by 50 every1-2 weeks and right now I'm losing about .5 pound a week. I started at 151 and have all my fat in my middle. (I'm an apple.)
Being small, 1 pound will show. Know that all that muscle weighs more. So check your fat pinch test too. I suggest giving it a try to slowly increase your calories with a day or 2 of splurge now and then. Pay attention to the hunger cues. Know what your normal weight fluctuation is. (Mine is 2-3 pounds.) For me I don't consider a weight up or down to be significant unless I see it for 3 days or see more movement in that direction. Also don't focus on working off the extra calories if you want the metabolism to do its thing. The extra work out may be counterproductive. The goal is to feel energetic and occasionally hungry. Then you'll know you're on the right path.
Very interesting what you said.. I'm going to do the same as you do about consider a weight fluctuation, I get stressed when one day I see 110 and next day it's on 112, I'll start counting it as a weight loss when the scale shows the same weight at least three consecutives days.
I really don't know if my metabolism went slowly, but that's the only possibility I found for not to loose weight, instead of that, always gain; but I'm not plateau either, my weight isn't the same for 5 days, it always change.. The only solution I found it was increasing my calorie intake a little (around 1500) and keep doing exercise, I hope not to gain weight, increase my metabolism and making my weight loss more efficiently..
