Which is more important: Hitting your calorie target or getting a good deficit?
I'm just curious which is more important because as of now my deficit is 1400 (My daily allowance almost lol) Is it better to eat a bit more because I did so much activity to get my deficit up a bit? I don't want to be in starvation mode...
A daily deficit and allowance of 1400 means you are under-eating. You ought to eat a lot more.
Hmm so perhaps I should up my caloric target a bit???
I don't know what you ought to be eating, because I don't know your stats. But a deficit of 1400 is more appropriate for a 6' 300 pound male.
Hhahahaha holy crap. Yeah now.. I'm a 5'1" 174 female..
Your BMR is 1600 so you should never be eating less than that. You should probably aim for a deficit of around 500 calories, which you could get by eating 1600 and burning an additional 180 calories through exercise.
Thanks so much Solid. It's good to know If i go over a little as long as I make up for it in exercise i'll be okay.
Hitting your calorie target preferably set at a minimum of your BMR should be considered not negotiable. Calorie deficit is negotiable. Ideally maximum deficit would be at the point where you lose 1% of your body weight a week. That said if you are exercising agressive while you will get energy from you body fat you also require some further nutrients for body maintainance. So as you burn calories by exercise you should up your food intake caloroes by a bit too.
Thanks. I upped it a bit so hopefully it will get better.
