Hey everyone, I just joined today. I've made the decision that something has to change.. and that something is me. I'm looking for any suggestions. I have 70lbs to lose to be at a healthy weight. This is the biggest I have ever been. Problem is like im sure it is for many, I love food. Pizza, Chocolate. Grrr. Im really gonna do it this time though. I have too. My goal is going to meet my boyfriend's family for the first time in atlanta in july. I know i wont lose all 70 but at least i hope to have some shape to my body besides round. :)

First step-- set up a profile and keep a journal! Then the friends you make can help motivate you!! :) I hope your first day is going well !!!!!

my cure foe the pizza craving is south beach diet pizzas! they are high in protein and fiber, but low in cals and saturated fats. also the chocolate thing is helped by fiber one chocolate chewy bars, they are awesome and have just enough chocolate to cure the craving.
Hey! welcome to CC. First off one thing you should know is that you don't have to give up those foods to lose the weight that you want. Just eat the right portions, there is no such thing as a bad food. :) Good luck! 
I am in the same boat as you. I also have about 70 pounds to lose. I have been trying for years. When I found this site last month, it helped me soooo much. I have lost 17 pounds already and I have done it by changing my habits and counting my calories. I love pizza too and I still have it when I want it. I just eat 1 slice instead of the three I really want. I love chocolate so i bought weight watchers chocolates and hostess 100 calorie packs. But you know what? Once you start watching the pounds go down, you dont even want to have the bad stuff anymore (atleast I dont) cuz I want to keep losing. What I love about this site is it helps you keep track of everything so you can still eat the things you want. This how I eat on an average day...morning commute 12oz french vanilla cappacino. I used to have like 5 a day cuz I love them but i allow myself to have 1 now. It is 180 calories. Then later in the morning I have a lite & fit smoothie. 60 cals. I eat a healthy salad for lunch, usually just lettuce, tomato and cucumber BUT I buy light done right 3 chz ranch cuz I LOVE CHZ! but it is better for you and it tastes like i have cheese on my salad. Dinner I will eat some kind of meat and veggies. I avoid the potatoes as much as possible but sometimes I will have a little bit. throughout the day I might have some fruit or some chocolate rice cakes (YUMMY believe it or not). Then 4 or 5 times a week I walk for an hour. That is it. The pounds are falling off along with my clothes! You have to really set your mind to it and believe me once you get used to it it isnt so bad. Make a profile find out what your calorie intake should be and start logging everything in! First if all - no, you wont lose 70 lbs by July 1, but with less & better eating & exercise and of course this site, there will definitely be less of you ;)

Dont think of this as a diet, think of it as a healthy lifestyle change. I personally dont think you have to give up foods you love, but rather eat them in moderation or use healthier alternatives. Like pizza (these are some examples I plan on putting in place) - maybe just have a slice, loaded with all the veggies you like & limit to one meat (if your like me Iusually load em up with the fatty meats) and a salad to go with it. Also, order the small, so theres less for you to eat! Or make your own...you can use the 2% cheese on it and a whole wheat crust. As for chocolate...I need a chocolate fix quite often, so Ive been buying the Jello brand sugar free fat free puddings. 100 cals and they taste pretty good!

Look for foods that are high in protein & fiber but low in bad fats & cals...thats what Ive been doing. Kashi cereals have become my new best friend LOL - I have it for breakfast, add it to my yogurt etc. And look around the site for help, ideas, recipes, food alternative.

one more thing i try to do is eat dinner then go for my walk. I dont eat after my walk either. After dinner I am done for the day. Boy do I savor every ounce of my dinner!

I have been lurking on and off on this site for a while now and I decided that I can't wait any longer.  I have to start seriously today.  I should lose 25 to 30 pounds; and the bottom line is is that I am only 5'0" so it shows big time.  I have been reading the suggestions kindly posted and want to say thanks for your comments.  So on to start my goal.
