A New Beginning (Seeking to Lose 55 Pounds!)
Hello everyone! I am just beginning my weight loss journey. I am in major need of losing 55 pounds. I am 5'1" and weigh 183, I was floored when I saw those three digits on my scale!
Now this coming August, my husband and I will be celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary early by going on a cruise! However, I would love for ONCE in my life be able to wear a bikini!! Furthermore, be able to take pictures of ME rather than my surroundings like I have been doing in the past.
The minute someone takes a picture of me, I swear that camera purposely adds extra pounds on me, I look bigger than what the scale is telling me!! UGH!
I would like some support!! Please ladies, are their any recent weight loss success stories by counting your calories? I would LOVE to read them!! ![]()
Thanks everyone!!
Emy
Congrats on your upcoming anniversary I hope you reach you're goal weight. If you want a buddy add me, I need all the help I can get :D
Hello! I am also going on a cruise in August and trying to lose weight to wear a bikini. I am curious of what cruise line you are taking, maybe it's the same as mine?? I would love to keep each other accountable since we have about the same goal date and for part of the same reasons. Good luck!
Hi Sarah! Thanks for replying!! That's great, good luck and keep going! I guess we can cheer each other on in here ![]()
Today will be my first day at the gym! At first I was so slumped this morning, then I came to work, logged on to my email and the first thing I saw was my 90 day challenge I had set up online with the new gym I'll be going! I was like, okay let's do this Emy!! I have 90 days to lose weight before my cruise!!
Thanks xmhwilson! Congrats on your current weight loss! This motivates me even more!! Looking forward to sharing my weight loss progress with you all! Thanks so much for the supportive words and good luck!!! ![]()
Awww Jackiewei, don't get discouraged! Are you keeping track of your foods? Maybe something you're eating is what's not helping you? Do some research and see! That's what I've been doing, is non-stop reading and reading articles about losing weight and foods that can sabotage your weight loss! Keep at it, you can do it!! We'll support one another, how's that!! GOOD LUCK!!

Hi there backfatbgone! How awesome, the same goals!! We can definitely cheer each other on to the finish line!
My husband and I sail on 8/11 on Carnival Dream! Super excited, but I would be FAR more excited if I lose ALL my weight by that date!! I really, really would LOVE to wear a bikini on that cruise and anytime I go out to the beach for that matter!! It is so frustrating when it comes time to takes pictures and you avoid that dreaded camera because you know very well that once the picture appears, you swear you gained 10 pounds extra just within those few seconds!! I want to enjoy my cruise and be able to appeal in ALL our pics, not just the scenic ones, know what I mean??
I wish you lots of luck and i just clicked on support if you don't mind? Please keep me posted!! Today is will be my first day going to the gym and getting myself ready not only physically but mentally as well. I was really sluggish this morning, but I HAVE to do this for ME!!! GOOD LUCK!!

Hi Emy,
Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary!
I started using calorie count in January because of my brother's upcoming wedding. I was 230 and set a goal of 185 (over 8 months), and so far have lost 33lbs.
When I first started, I made very very sure that I logged everything (before I ate it!)- that really deters you from that extra brownie when you see that it adds another 300 calories to the end of a 300 calorie meal. Mentally, it just wasn't worth it to me. That was the biggest thing for me. Another thing I did was log my meals for the day early to see what my calorie and nutritional intake was going to be- especially if I was going out for dinner. If I already had it logged, I was less likely to change my mind. I also looked at other people's logs on calorie camp, so that I could see what foods were low calorie (and high in nutrition) that I also liked. The last thing I did was give myself cheat days. I knew that I wanted to still have fun on the weekends and it also gave me a chance to have something I craved during the week. I would still eat a very reasonable breakfast and lunch, but I wouldn't worry so much about dinner. I just made sure I didn't go over 2000 calories. You will be surprised how much you can eat at 2000 calories once you are used to a 1200-1500 calorie day. Once I got used to the 1200-1500 calorie day, if I went out on a Saturday night, I was usually full halfway through my meal, so stopped eating and saved the rest for Sunday.
Those are my tips for what worked for me! Good luck in your goal, and enjoy your cruise!

It is not possible to loose weight in 2 months, nor to see big changes. If you manage to do so you will probably ruin your health and skin. You should have thought of this back in January or even earlier.
I am 29 yo old woman, 5' 2" tall. My weight is now 117lbs. It was 122lbs back in January when I have decided to do something before it gets out of control. I lost "only" 5lbs, but I lost 3lbs of fat and put on 3lbs of muscles. This made quite some change into my looks.
You cannot loose fat if you don't do phisycal activity. You must be active. I go to the gym 3-5 times a week for 1-2h, sometimes more. Start with walking if you are completely untrained. You must try to do more everytime, walk for a longer distance or just try to increase piece, it is important to improve your performance. You must stay motivated and COSTANT! Also, do some weight training, start with simple excercises, abs for example, also use the stairs a lot, you can use water bottles to train your arms.
Good, second thing is FOOD. You have to eat less then you consume, otherwise there is no weight loss. Not eating at all is just as bad as overeating. Keep your diet well balance, don't drink juices, no sugar or anything that has sugar, no gas drinks, no bread, pizza or pasta. Your calories should come from lean meat (chicken, turkey, fish), yogurt or milk, vegetables, fruits and healty foods like rice, quinoa, bulgur etc. 1 cheat meal per week is allowed, but not more. Nuts are also ok and olive oil, but watch out the quantity! (2 tablespoon olive oil a day maximum, 10 nuts/day maximum).
Good luck, if you follow this you will get back in shape in about 6-9 months. It takes about one month to get your body used to consume fat. You might not see results in the first 3 weeks. But then you should have constant results, how fast you will get back in shape depends on how much you will challange yourself and try to improve. In about 3 months you should be able to do 20 minutes of run 1minute/walk one minute training, and in 5 months you should be able to do light 30 minutes running. THis will help you burn more callories daily and maintain your weight loss!
I totally agree with what Abiandnoahsmom has to say. Rock on! You can lose a substantial amount of weight in two months. Stay focused. Cut out the sugar and get your body moving! P.S. why doesn't anybody have pics up?
Hi Emy,
Congratulations on your decision to get healthy and lose weight. I know the feeling having worked in corporate jobs most of life and steadily putting on weight, eating out and just bad habits. I didn't even realise I had a weight issue till my family and friends started teasing me about it and thats when I discovered the 90 Day Challenge. In my first 90 day challenge I lost 16 pounds! My girlfriend Liza lost 22 pounds and 10 inches off her waist on her 90 day challenge! Now we're maintaining a healthy weight and feel great. If you want to know more about the Challenge, drop me an email: gavinsequeira1@gmail.com.
Good luck with your journey!
Best wishes,
Gavin
Why are people who want to be healthy, going on cruises?! How about a vacation that isn't centered on food (not to mention the incredible environmental waste generated by cruise ships)? Choose a beautiful place, hike, explore.. BE the change you are looking for.
Yes, we just spent 4 days in Sedona, AZ and hiked over 35 miles. We hiked 15 in just one day! And, after that sleeping is great which is also what our bodies need.
Hi Emy! I completely understand the picture thing. My poor daughter doesn't have any pics of her and me together (except a handful, which I loathe looking at) because I always avoided being behind the lens. There's something about not feeling as heavy as you really are, if you don't have to see yourself, I guess.
If you eat what your body wants, the weight falls off. Just make sure you don't try to deprive your body by eating under 1200 calories. You will be sure to binge to compensate, canceling out all your work.
Counting calories WORKs, and doesn't have to hurt if you totally load up on the veggies/salads. One good way to lose weight quick, is to make sure you don't feel so hungry that you end up yielding to temptations that cancel out what you worked for. When I'm serious about losing, I make sure that every lunch and dinner includes a huge, delicious salad on the side. Load with any kind of vegetable imaginable to make it interesting. Chop and shred in different ways to make it fun. Shredding carrots, slicing lettuces/spinach as thin as you can makes them easier to eat. Vary your "dressings", but keep them light, so you have variety. An easy one I like: Honey, mustard, onion powder, black pepper/salt, vinegar to taste, small drizzle olive oil. There are also a lot of good "light" ones pre-made. You naturally get energy and strength to sustain you. You get a lot of chewing and flavor for your calories when you go for the salads ;-)
Summer fruits are your best bets for those sweet cravings.
Have FUN on your cruise!!!
