New Group: Get fit by Sept. 1, 2011!

Quote  |  Reply

Hi Everyone!  I have been looking at the forums and have noticed many groups that are closed or have too many posts.  Since I'm new to CC, I wanted to start a new smaller group and make some friends to join in my weight loss, get fit journey.

I am 5' and fluctuate at 140 lbs.  I would like to get down to 120 lbs. for sure and then decide from there.  It's been quite awhile since I've been 120.  I I am focusing on 1250 calories a day. 'm 35 and have two kiddo's ages 4 and 14 months. I am married and live in DFW, Texas.

I'm looking for people to join me that have similar weight loss goals and want to lose weight the healthy way.  We can have a weekly weigh in on Monday's and keep each other accountable for healthy eating and exercise.

Who's in?

I'm in! I'm 5'10" currently 205, looking to get down to 175 to start and then I'll re-evaluating my goals based on how I feel in my skin.

I'm a 35 yr old mother of 2, Boy- 9, Girl-7 and I live outside of a small town in southern Saskatchewan, Canada.

I have been on this journey before, and I did win ( lost this same 50lbs in Spring of 09), but some pretty intense circumstances (lost our home to a fire, and my DH and I built our new one=no time to cook healthy or energy to exercise) caused me to jump off the wagon. I am back on there, on the road to a happier, healthier me and would love to make some friends along the way!

I'm in too, if you'll have me!

I'm 5'7",  currently 192lbs, and I'm aiming for 162 by September 4th, when I will be 34. Ultimately I'd like to get down to around 147 as this is what I weighed when I was 12 years old (!!!!!!!!!) - but I suspect that I'll never be any lighter than that, as I have cartman-style Big Bones!

I have no children yet - but plan to in next 18 months hence massive health drive as I will be an "old-age" first-time mum so I don't want to be an obese one too. I live in a little village about 30 miles outside London, UK, but spend a lot of time in Glasgow where my partner's from - unfortunately, the streets there are paved with deep-fried Mars Bars!

I joined CC a few days after Xmas, when my scales screamed 221lbs at me, and did really well at first. The last four weeks though, I have not been logging food or properly exercising, hence I could really do with a group to join to motivate me to keep coming back here, as it really does work. The fact that I,ve been "off" my diet for a month but still lost 3 pounds just goes to show that I must have formed some good habits which have become unconscious - I really thought when I got back on the scales I'd be at least half a stone heavier!

Good luck everyone

So excited to meet you both!  I am looking forward to getting to know you and being successful together!  And, it's fun to meet people that live so far away and it different countries!

I graduated highschool at 105 lbs!  I was such a petite muscular thing, active in sports.  I'd love to get close to that, but would be thrilled if I made it to 115.  I'm definitely not 18 anymore!

I've been seeing a nutritionist, so I know what I need to do and what to stay away from, it's just so hard!  I LOVE bread, and I love baked goods, especially soft cookies!  Those things are a huge hangup when it comes to my weight loss!

My very short-term goal is to eat NO starchy carbs like bread, rice, or pasta till tomorrow evening, for my friend's birthday party.  She is making fajitas!  YUM!

Again, thanks for joining me!  When can do it!

I'm in! 23 year old. Gained a lot of weight when I was in my relationship with my ex-fiance (136 and jumped to 179 in a two year span!) Have been single now for about a year and wanting to get back down to my high school graduation weight of 130 (my smaller goal is 145 by October though) I'm 5'5" and HATE working out, I prefer to just be active which is difficult at a sit down job.

So far I have lost almost 20lbs (162 right now) But have fluctuated 7lbs for 6 months now and need that extra kick to get loosing again.

Is the first weigh in this Monday?? :D I'm so excited!!

Thanks for the welcome.

Good luck with no carbs till tomorrow....

I have a confession to make - Friday is McDonalds Night at my house - has been ever since I met my other half. He's Scottish (officially the worst diet in Europe), and it took me about 18 months to get him to even look at a vegetable. So I will be eating some very bad food, LOL. I've already done an hour on my stepper in an effort to minimise the impact, but I'm glad weigh-in isn't till Monday.

I have changed my eating habits MASSIVELY since Christmas, but still can't give up the Friday junk-fest. I think it stops me from falling off the wagon in the week, because I know there's a treat coming soon! And my Friday calories only go up to 1700 rather than my usual 1300 - I don't do cola or shakes which helps - so I feel like I can (kind of) justify it.

Have a great weekend both of you!

Sorry Sparrow, we posted at the same time - have a great weekend tooLaughing

The salad's aren't too bad at McD's.  My daughter always wants to eat there, but we convince her otherwise.  Or, get a happy meal for you too....it cuts back on calories but you still get to eat it!  We have donuts on Sunday mornings.  Those are BAD!!!  But yummy!  I try to just eat a couple of donut holes.

Hey Sparrow!  Glad to meet you!  Yes, let's do weigh-in on Monday, even though it's just a few days away!

:D Thank you! Mondays are a great weigh in day. My work has weigh in days on Monday too so I get two support groups. Work weigh ins though have two very large guys in them....so they put in their 4,5,6 lb losses and I squeek out my 1, if lucky 2 lol

Hey I'm in!

I have 2 daughters 3 and 1yrs and need to get back to pre pregnancy weight, I've had fun eating whatever I want but its time to look amazing and get back into exercise which I do really enjoy.

I weigh 182lbs am 5"9 and want to get to 145lbs. I don't own scales so better get some for monday :)

If anyone wants to be my friend feel free to msg me!

I would l0ve to join!

I am 20 years old, 5'4" and 193.6 lbs I've been going back and forth between 190 and 193 for a few weeks now before this it was 188 to 189 Frown I lost 20 pounds about a year ago and I have been stuck here since. I joined CC this year but haven't gotten too far, now I'm just getting desperate and determined to change this! I'm doing 1200 calorie's a day. I'm from the small town of Chelsea, Oklahoma and just got married in October 2010.

My goal is 140 and we'll see from there Smile

I would love to join!

I am currently 6.5lbs down from my highest weight ever. I've been looking for a group with long-term goals and this is perfect! Six months helps lose the weight nice and slow.

So... stats:

S.W.: 198

C.W.: 191.5

G.W.: 135

Calories/Day: 1500

Workout: 30 Day Shred every day (on day 16!) and 45-65 minutes of cardio four times a week (walking on the treadmill as I have a knee injury and can't jog anymore, and Jillian Michael's Burn Fat, Boost Metabolism).

I'm looking forward to this group and I know I have the will this time to stick with it! Even if I need a kick in the butt sometimes. ;)

I HAVE to share!!! So usually I have really really bad food cravings late night and when I'm craving pizza I usually always give in and order (usually around 10:30). Last night the craving came back and I wanted so desperately to. I was tired, hungry and wanted to EAT! I tried using one of the tricks mentioned by a user on here to just say "I'm not eating that right now" instead of "I can't eat that" and it helped enough for me to get on here and read through some posts to the point where I was just so tired I decided to crash instead of stay up. I MADE IT THROUGH THE CRAVING! So proud. It's a big step :D Walked three miles today and my eating has been great. I feel so powerful! lol

Awesome Sparrow!!  So, yesterday I ate 1600 cal.  Obviously I need to do some serious tweeking!

But, it won't be done today.  We are headed to a birthday party this afternoon, fajita's!  YUM!  Then, some late night sushi with the hubby for our anniversary!

Yesterday I did a lot of exercising, which is helpful to my calorie overage.  I am starting c25k and I also did a crunch video on exercise TV.  Today I moved some dirt, trying to block an area of fence my dog keeps scooting under and then I did a pilate video.  Tomorrow my husband and I are going hiking!  That will be some nice exercise with nature!

Glad that so many are wanting to join the group!  And, it's still a small number!  Hooray!!!  I can't wait to see how we all progress with our goals!

Till tomorrow, Have a great day!

Cool Sparrow! Get past a craving is such a powerful feeling!

I haven't been great today food wise but its the first cheat day in a week and I walked 5 miles pushing a double buggy! I'm doing a boxing workout program to relieve stress :) and burn serious calories so am jumping rope in a minute!

ooooo hiking sounds like so much fun and the jumping rope is a great idea. I have an old one I may need to start incorporating. I just found out today that netflix has some instant play workout videos! Gonna have to test some out. Laughing

I am a mother of 2 boys, 3 & 14 months.

So I had an AHA! moment a couple days ago... I've been counting calories and exercising, and the scale has been moving in a downward direction, YAY! But given my deficits, it didn't seem to be moving quite as fast as I would have thought. Now I know what you're thinking, it's not as simple as the math leads you to believe, :oP but I knew it had to be more than just that. It had to be the dreaded <salt> she says in a whisper.

I am a salt-a-holic! Always have been, my DH says that I have gotten much better over the years, but I find that when I was losing weight last time, I kept telling myself- "You're cutting down the calories, and ditching so much fat, what's a little sodium to make things taste good?" I figured that I would worry about the cals/fat for now, and deal with that dreaded little mineral later. So, I blended up some spices and threw them in a shaker and tried that for the last 2 days. Read the Nutr. labels and made some choices based on sodium, and here I am, 2 days later, 2lbs lighter!

I know it's just my body finally letting go of the water weight, but now the math works, which for me is the linear answer that my OCD brain needed. lol!

Happy Sunday Everyone! TTY tomorrow.Cool

So friends of mine and I are going to Steak N' Shake for dinner (yikes) So I've been trying to keep my numbers low during the day since I know dinner is going to be quite an attack. I've decided on the Grilled chicken salad with a side of applesauce. This meal still gives a whopping 51 carbs! A salad and applesauce is 51 carbs lol. I'm thinking of doing the cup of vegtable soup though instead of applesauce to cut down on the carbs and give me something more filling. Ideas anyone??

LOL

Sorry Sparrow, must be a cultural difference - in the UK we only eat apple sauce with Roast Pork and Crackling....mmmmmmmmmmmmm! I can only think it would be torture to have it with a grilled chicken salad!

I'm guessing its a more savoury style thing in the states! I don't really have any suggestions for an alternative when eating at Steak and Shake as we don't have them, but I get my apple craving fixed by making some stewed red cabbage and apple with red wine vinegar and a (tiny) bit of butter and brown sugar. Its LOVELY and not too carby.

I have to say though, I have been losing weight consistently even though my carb intake is around 65% of my daily calories. Most of them come from fruit an veggies, and I've steered clear of "white" anything, but I reckon its overall calories that really make the difference, so I wouldn't deny yourself too much if I were you!

Remember the other part of the equation for weight loss is exercise - your apple sauce is probably only the equivalent of a half hour walk!

ps I have weighed myself already today (its Monday morning here!) but I'm going to wait till a bit later to post cos I don't want to go first!!!!!

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
