New Group: Get fit by Sept. 1, 2011!

Hi Everyone!  I have been looking at the forums and have noticed many groups that are closed or have too many posts.  Since I'm new to CC, I wanted to start a new smaller group and make some friends to join in my weight loss, get fit journey. 

I am 5' and fluctuate at 140 lbs.  I would like to get down to 120 lbs. for sure and then decide from there.  It's been quite awhile since I've been 120.  I I am focusing on 1250 calories a day. 'm 35 and have two kiddo's ages 4 and 14 months. I am married and live in DFW, Texas.   

I'm looking for people to join me that have similar weight loss goals and want to lose weight the healthy way.  We can have a weekly weigh in on Monday's and keep each other accountable for healthy eating and exercise.

Okay....week one results:

LW: 170 pounds

CW: 169 pounds

 

Have Zumba class tonight.  I can't even tell you how much I LOVE that class.  Started working out this week, so we'll see how it goes.  I'll take the one lonely pound that I have lost.  Glad to hear everyone's success.

 I love zumba (: and i'll do the whole hour with a smile on my face. I've also met people there and it's awesome seeing the same faces doing what you're doing in order to stay healthy.

I HATE that time! I get so discouraged too because no matter how hard I try there is always no progress for a week and a half just because of it. You are absolutely right bandnerd, it's about pushing through and not getting discouraged about bad days or slip ups. We are all slowly making our way towards a better and more healthy lifestyle!

 Agree (: It's hard because during those weeks you dont see any progress and you have cravings and it can be a diet disaster lol but i'm trying to maintain focus (: by the way i'm loving this group!

The thing about Zumba is, once the music starts going, it is very hard NOT to move.  Love it!  I take the class at my local community center with a friend.  All the ladies in there have a smile on their faces.  It just can't be helped Laughing

I am 5'6" and fluctuate at 180 lbs.  I would like to get down to 150 lbs.  It's been quite awhile since I've been 160.  I'm 50 and have grandkids from ages 15 down to 8 months. I am married and live in California.   

Weekly weigh-in's on Mondays will work well for me.

Today I am at 180.1# and would like to place my next milestone target at 171.1#

next week, i'm going to start swimming and bike riding around the city, so hopefully that will prevent a plateau from happening!  i checked out for zumba classes around my city, they seem fun.  i'm considering at least popping in one class to give it a try.  but i want to give swimming and cycling a chance.

I ran my 5K distance on Monday and did a personal best on time.  I must say that I was proud.....it kept me going all day long by making good choices on food selections.

SW : 184 that was two weeks ago

Weight today : 180 

have 3 inchs off my waist at 2 off my hips :) I have been jumping rope for longer and longer (bloody hard work!) and doing push ups and boxing with my partner but I have not been perfect on my diet so just concentrating more on the exercise to hopefully motivate to eat better!

Sorry for my absence.  I have been OVERWHELMED!  My son is a needy one!  Then, I work for myself and was extremely behind on paperwork....still behind. Behind on housework too.  I don't know if I will ever catch up! 

I ran with my neighbor on monday and my knee throbbed yesterday!  So frustrating.  I did an exercise video yesterday.  My weight was 141 this morning.  It's not moving because I simply don't stay away from the sweets!  And, we don't have them in the house.  I must get to the store and buy some healthy to go snacks to take wiht me while I'm on the road for work. 

Any suggestions for low fat, low carb, yummy go to snacks?

Hey!  I know how it is being a working mom and how overwhelmed it can be at times and I too turned to sugar for a quick pick me up only to realize that it doesn't last.  I have had to learn to prioritize big time!  Take a weekend and sit down and get yourself organized.  If that means having someone watch the kids while you do that, then do it.  Also, do you happen to drink Diet Soda?  I found that when I was drinking diet pop that my cravings for sweets was 100 times greater than it is now.  Since giving up on pop I literally don't crave the cookies, candy, salty snacks that I did just a few months ago.  Give it a try if you do drink pop and see how much better you feel.  You will sleep better and be better able to handle the stresses of working and caring for your little angels too.

Snacks I like:  carrots, light string cheese, low carb tortilla slightly toasted broken into pieces and dipped in salsa, baked lays, celery with PB, higher quality turkey cuts, fat free kettle korn, hard boiled egg, fruit smoothie (no sugar added)

Today I vowed to cut sugar (aside from fruits/veg) from my diet completely, as it just sets me up to over eat, my weekly weigh in stats:

SW: 146.5

CW: 141 (142 LW)

GW: 133

Hello everyone!

I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I recently started this light whole body weight routine, and it's very short and not all that tough. I did it once last week and i coulndt work out again untill this week because i was so sore. I did my normal cardio on tuesday, and then yesterday i did the routine again. Today i feel extremely sore, to the point where i can't extend my arm completely without feeling pain. my legs hurt as well but not as bad.

So my question is, should i stretch or will that make it worse? And ive heard that pain meds acctualy decrease muscle growth but thats my only option if i want to work out tomorrow (because no way in hell am i working out today!)

Also if the pain continues tomorrow do i take another rest day or do i just push it?

you want to stretch afterwards.  when you work out and then just stop moving your muscles contract and don't release.  that's why it's important to stretch after you work out.  it'll feel amazing to do it.  if it's just sore, i would push it but only like a half routine.  only to get your muscles moving.  the more you delay, you are just going to get sore again cause your body isn't used to it.

Went to the store and bought all sorts of healthy snack and fruits.  Menu is planned with dinners with lots of veggies and I'm going to try to eat salads for lunch.....not a fan of lettuce though.  Going to have a week of Self-control!

 I'm not a huge lettuce girl either, but I can eat bags & bags of spinach! A cup of mushrooms, some purple onions and I'm in heaven!

Hmmm, those are good salad ideas.  I was going to buy a couple of bags of spinach at the store because they were $10/10, but they were out.  Bought a head of romaine instead.
