140 pounds and only 15, looking for advice and support.
How tall are you? I'm assuming you are female? Do you know how many cals per day you consume? It's very important at your age when you are still growing not to over restrict your cals or lose weight too fast. When you say you keep gaining, is that a lot over a short period of time or just gradually as you have gotten older. What is your typical day of eating like? So your doctor told you to lose weight but gave you no advice or information on how to get started? Can't say I'm too impressed with that but on the other hand I've seen too many people post that their doctor put them on 1200 cals a day, way too low for most people.
Basic info, teenage girls should not go below 1500 and if you are active at all, and most teenagers are, even if it's just running around school and with friends, minimum is 1800 so you could start with that. Bottom line, be healthy!
Okay, don't listen to the poster above ^^.
You girls are young, and although it doesn't seem like it, your bodies are going through massive changes. Energy is constantly being stored and moved around for vital growth and development. Now is NOT the time to be restricting amount of energy your body NEEDS for these changes, and this continues well into your mid twenties! Females below the age of 21 needs 1,500 MINIMUM- For completely sedentary, and bed-ridden. Which translates mostly to about 1,800 minimum for those lightly active. Not that '1,200' crap.
What I'm trying to get at here, is you DON'T need to be losing weight or counting calories. As you two are both healthy weight girls, and not obese, your focus needs to go elsewhere. Instead of teaching yourselves to count calories, you will be doing yourself a huge favor by listening to your bodies instead. Eat a nutritious, balanced diet (and yes-- Treats DO fit into a balanced diet!). But more importantly, learn to eat when you are hungry, and stop when you are full. Do some light exercise that you enjoy. If your body loses weight, then it was meant to. If you stay the same/gain, then it's probably what your body needs right now.

This girl did not say she was a teenager. If she is I totally agree, they should not be cutting cals that much.
Reason: Moderated post removed, and her age is in the title
Ok I am 16 in a week and weigh 158lbs! I am active and fit althrough i would like to be skininer. I would advise you to just watch what you eat but thing i would say is dont let the stress get to you; you will give up if you do.
I would say getting up really early in the morning and doing 20mins of exercise would solve your problem
You could jump wth a rope for 10 mins and other stuff?

i guess the title of the post meant nothing.
My son is 5' tall and was 162 lbs in May - he's 11 years old. I was worried but didn't want to get too drastic by counting calories and stuff like that. My doctor has told me forever that he's going to be 6' tall and now that puberty is on the horizon I shouldn't worry about his weight but I did anyway. I could see how it was slowing him down.
I posted on here and was strongly advised to take it easy on my son and not set him up for eating disorders and self image problems so I decided the best course was just to pay attention to what he was eating and make sure that he wasn't over eating. My whole family has been eating healthier since my husband and I started counting calories to lose weight. I need to lose 100 lbs total and he needs to lose 200 lbs. We're both doing well and dropping steadily towards our goals.
I did nothing drastic to my children's diets but I have a much better idea about what a proper portion is for everyone in my family now. My sweet son just had his monthly weigh in yesterday(we don't own a scale and weigh at our YMCA). He is now 5' and 141 lbs!! He's lost 21 lbs since the end of May 2011 just by eating better!
Why did I tell you all this? I just want you to know that just paying attention to what you are putting into your mouths may be all you really need to do while you are so young. You don't need to count calories you just need to make healthier choices.
I was 15, 5'8, around 155-160 lbs when I first began weight loss. I counted calories, restriced them, and worked out hard. I lost 35 lbs in a matter of months.
AND I gained most of it back.
I learned my lesson, and I will share it with you- take things SLOW. I'm working on getting back down to 140-145 (I'm now 17 and weigh around 155). I have such a hard time now, because binging happens so often from restricting calories for so long. I've worked hard to lose only 4 lbs in 2 months. I'm going to continue that- just losing a couple pounds a month, no rush.
Don't get obsessed. Just work on eating healthy and intuitively. Make fruits and vegetables the base of your diet, and cut down on all animal products and cut out refined and processed foods.
Trust me, worrying about things only makes it worse.
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
