I have just been eating when i am hungry and i have started to see the scale start moving again! Or do you think you do better when you have set meal times? I have seen people on here say if you skip meals your body goes into starvation mode how does your body know when it's lunch time? It's just a thought.
I do both. I don't like feeling hungry, so I try to keep intake steady through the day. I find if I'm hungry, I'll eat a lot more than if I'm eating because "it's time." However, if I do get hungry aside from that schedule, I'll eat then, too, because, again, if I feel like I'm starving myself, I'll go crazy and eat stuff that's not so good for me :)
I try to stick to complete meals at set meal times. Otherwise, if I snack throughout the day, I end up eating too much, and waiting that extra hour to eat gets you in touch with the feeling of hungry and as a consequence, the feeling of full. (Eat slowly and pay attention to the feeling of satiety.)
Also, if you cohabitate with someone, it is very difficult to avoid eating when not hungry if they are sticking to regular meal times.
yeah we have set meals times at home because i have 3 kids, plus i have a hubby that works all day and he wants a good hot meal at the end of the day. So i just try to only eat when im hungry during the day and eat dinner at night with them. If im not hungry at dinner "time" i still sit with them and talk with them.
Let me first off say that I give you props for sitting down and eating with your family and just chatting with them. I think I would be so tempted to nibble on something. I tend to eat every 2-3 hours depending on how busy I am. My schedule doesn't change much Mon-Fri but Saturdays I'm known to sleep in until 10-11am whereas I would normally be up by 730am.
Your body starts getting used to eating at certain times, if you train it.
I used to never eat before the late afternoon, but I have learned to eat throughout the day, and my body reacts to it just fine. I start getting hungry a few minutes before my next usual feeding time.
I can be flexible, and change around a little, but I feel so much better keeping just a little food in my system all of the time instead of a huge amount of food once or twice a day.
I kind of do both. I only eat when I'm feeling hungry, but that happens at more or less the same times every day, give or take 30 minutes or so.
My lunch hour at work fluctuates by an hour every other week, so I can't really have a set "lunch" hour, but what I find is that because I eat my breakfast and lunch at work, and don't really have enough time, I tend to eat both meals and my 2 snacks over the entire work day, and they all kind of sprawl into eachother. For example, I may not finish my apple slices from breakfast until after it's time for my snack, and I may finish my snack an hour before my lunch time... I find this helps stave off hunger, and makes me feel like I'm eating more than I actually am.
BF and I usually eat dinner around the same time though.
For breakfast, I have a set meal time of around 9. However, when I wake up earlier, like 7:30, then I have a snack and then eat at 9...the rest of the day, I just see how it plays out. If I eat more for lunch, then I eat less for dinner and vice versa..I try to have a snack every 3 hours and also eat when I'm hungry. Oh, and when my parents want me to eat dinner with them when I've just had dinner, I just sit at the table and eat veggies.:P
i eat at all different times. it's just when i feel like it. there's no schedule. i do try to eat something in the morning though, and i try to never be hungry.
i think it's bad for the metabolism for you to be hungry. :D
I'm really torn between this last week at 3pm I was hungry so i had a sandwich thinking nothing of it then 6pm - 7pm rolls on and im still not hungry I dont know what to do cause if I dont eat at 7pm then I wont eat till 7am which is 12 hours without food which didnt seem good. so i had pasta and it bloated me and i felt ill for hours, but I woke up not hungry and had a sensible breakfast. (if I was hungry i would have probably ate loads).
and I agree you should eat when you are hungry but also not skip meals
I do both. Because I'm in school on week days, I'm sort of forced to have "set meal times," and on the weekends I try to eat small meals spread across the day (normally about five small meals that fit into my daily allowence). I would say I have a loose meal plan -- once I am maintaining, though, I'm going to try to distance myself from calorie counting really learn to eat when I am hungry and to stop when I am full. : ) One of the reasons I have found calorie counting to be so effective for me is that I've always struggled with portion sizes (especially since I am 5'0 and just need less then my 5'9-6' friends!)and I feel that CC has helped me figure out what the right portion sizes are for me.
I eat when Im hungry. I cannot do set meal times, not with my job. Sometimes I dont eat dinner untill 9pm. I carry easy snacks with me so I can just eat it quick and continue on with work. I have forced myself to start eating breakfast. I didnt use to but my trainer highly recommended it.
I don't ever have a set work schedule, so it's really difficult for me to set times for my meals. Typically, I eat when hungry because that's what usually works best for me, in the long run.
In the morning, if I have to be in at work by 7, I eat around 6am, and again at 9 if I'm lucky (lucky as in I get my first 15 min break by then), then again at 11 if I work 8 hours, and if I don't, I eat again around 1pm when I get home. If I have to go in at work by 1pm, I wake up around 7-8am, eat around 9-10, have a small lunch or snack before going in to work at around 12, and eat during the first 15 min break at 3 and again at 5p with my lunch, since if I go in at 1 more often than not I'm there 'til 9pm. =) There are other nights where I could come in at 3:30, and often I eat my lunch later because of that later time.
So eating when hungry works best for me, since I can close one night 1-9 and open the store the very next morning 7-3:30p, like I did yesterday (closed) and today (opened). It's always fun when there are days like today where I don't get my first 15 min break, as well, so my getting hungry about 2 hours into work becomes torturous when my lunch finally rolls around. =P
If I am hungry I eat and it really seams to work for me. I eat snacks when I need them. I always eat breakfast when I wake up, lunch around noon or 1:30ish, 3 or 4 pm snack and 7 or 8 pm dinner. If I get hungry later I eat even if it is something small. :)
