Are any of you 5'4-5'6 and plateauing at ~130 pounds?? :D
I'm 5'5 (cw: 133lbs), and have never ever managed to get below 128...I always got discouraged in the past...I notice that so many women around my height tend to plateau in their 130's as well, that's why I'm calling on y'all!
This time I'm determined to get to my goal (120lbs or size 4...whichever comes first). A friend of mine who successfully overcame the 130 plateau told me that it's the most difficult plateau to overcome (and she knows her stuff since she was obese once). So we should start a group! That way we can keep motivating each other to reach our goals...let's see who gets to push through their plateau first...then we can share tips and all that stuff!
I would love to join - 5'5" 135 and my ultimate goal is 120. For now it is 125 and to loose my muffin top and get more toned all over!!
I don't have any tips...what I've been doing hasn't really worked.
Good luck to us![]()
I am a little shorter... around 5'3" and I have been plateauing for almost 8 months at 132!! I kind of stopped working at it for a while, but I am trying to get back at it and it's still not going away. I'm hoping I work at it for a couple more weeks it might stop... I hope!
Welcome chewylotta and neffly!
chewylotta, I have that muffin top going on as well...I can't wait to get rid of it!!
neffly, 8 months is a long time...lets get started now...c'mon lets do this!! and see who gets to break through it first...winner needs to share her tips to the rest of us...i've gone off track the last few days...i'm going to start busting my ass at the gym today...I've been sedentary the past few days
what are your food intakes/work out plans like? maybe we can change it up a little and see how that works?
I'm with you guys! I'm 5'6" and currently at 129, but I've been stuck between 128 and 132 for months! I'd like to get down to 120 by June 1st. Let's do this!
Yipee, welcome to the group hauteandi, yep, let's do this...so when should we do our weigh in? Let's include our measurements as well...I tend to find that at this weight, my inches tend to come off before it starts showing on the scale, so let's be best buddies with our measuring tape as well, this way we won;t get discouraged if the scale refuses to budge.
I'll start:
chest: 35.5", waist: 26.5", belly: 29" (muffin top needs to go), hips: 37", thighs: 22.4"
weight: 133
Next weigh in/measuring: 23rd Apr Thursday
how about that girls?
I am a little taller, 5'7", but I am also having a terrible time getting below 130. I have been stuck in the 131-132 range for two months. Can I join too? :)
Yeah lets do it. I am 5'7" cw 130. when starting this program i was 135 and my goal for now is 125!
Thursday weigh-ins look good. I don't know what my current measurements are, I'll post them at the next weigh in!
Thursday Weigh-in
Measurements
Chest: 35", Waist: 27", Hips: 36", Thigh 20.5"
Weight: 131.2lb
GW:125
I would like to join also! I've never done any of these forum things so I hope I'm doing this right :)
I'm a bit shorter: 5'3", current weight 123-125# (can't seem to get below 123!) I've been at this plateau for about 8+ months. Goal weight 120#
When I started on this website in January 2008 I was 143#. I got down to 125 by May 2008 and have been pretty much plateauing ever since!!
I try to eat around 1400 calories/day. On the weekends I consume more with eating out, etc. It usually all evens out during the week so I don't gain anything. I just can't get lower than 123 and it's really annoying! Any ideas?
I will do my measurements as soon as I can get ahold of a tape measure :) Thanks, Kelly
kayyy... I normally weigh in on Saturdays, but I don't mind switching so much. Here's where I am at right now...
CW: 132
hips:40in chest:35in waist:30in Theigh:22.5in
GW: 115
It is that TOM so I am not going to weigh today. Last time I was
135 lbs, waist 28.5, thighs 22.5, hips 36, chest 34 (hopefully this does not get any smaller!!)![]()
I am eating 1200-1500 calories per day. Most every day is
Breakfast - 1 egg, 2 whites cooked w/no fat; 16 oz nonfat sugar free latte
Snacks apples, oranges, 45 calorie bread, almonds, nonfat pudding & nonfat coolwhip (usually have a snack between every meal and desert after dinner) & easter candy lately............
Lunch - salad w/ light balsamic vinegarette, canadian bacon, mushrooms & tomatoes
Dinner - Chicken or lean beef, salad, sometimes potatoes or rice a roni
Exercise is jogging 5 days per week at least 15 minutes, walking 40-50 minutes and horseback riding (trotting) 10-15 minutes. I was also trying to do the Jillian Micheals 30 day shred video a couple times per week.
What is everyone else doing?
welcome, hot fudge, melissa and kelly! sure you guys can join!
Had a really bad day yesterday and was super busy...I did go up and down the stairs alot...eating was all over the place, had only a glass of skimmed milk for breakfast then had all u can eat sushi later in the evening...lots of sushi rolls but i avoided the fried/creamy kinds...must get back to eating 4-5 times a day today..
chewylotta, usually I eat around 1200-1500kcal too (broken up into 5 meals), trying to eat more protein and veges and less starchy carbs...I also exercise 5-6 times a week including weight training 2-3 times a week. Not really following a specific exercise/diet program but I do have a copy of Venuto's 'BFFM' which I like to refer to every now and then.
kelly, congrats on your weight loss...u only have a few pounds to go! u can do this! try upping your exercise intensity and eating less on days that you're sedentary...I've been told that HIIT works wonders...I can't wait to try it out next time I hit the gym
I am 42, so it is really hard to get that weight to move. I think if you stay a weight too long you make a new set point and your body wants to stay there. The trick is to get your body to the weight you want and keep it that way until it resets. I lost tons of weight after my son was born and went down as low as 113 for years.
I am 5' 4" have been bouncing between 133 and 139 for months. I am very small boned and I need to be at least 120.
I am back at 139 again and I am so annoyed and frustrated I am ready to try almost anything. I work out hard at the gym almost every day and started running again a couple of days ago. I can only do about 2.25 miles so far, but I will keep plugging away...
My goal: 120 by July
chest 37
waist 26
tummy 34
hips 39
I really need this to work. I don't want to be one of those creaky old moms that wont do anything and even a small amount of extra weight slows me down a lot.
30 years old 5'5'' 136
I'm in if I am welcome.. I have been out of the loop for a while. I am currently @ 136 and would really like to get back to under 130 .. and stay there.
I got down to 123 Christmas Day!! That would be great,
I was just recently diagnosed with severe hypoglycemia, and it kind of put me in a depression and led to a lot of emotional eating and not exercising due to the severe sugar crash afterward... I am trying to get back in the groove.. worked out and ran last 2 days.. will be tough the next 3 I work 12, but will do elliptical for at least 20 min each day.
i would love to join, if that's ok! i've been hovering around 135-140 for a year now, and am absolutely completely flabby. :( my husband and i recently quit smoking (it's been 1 wk 1 hr 45 min, not that i'm counting or anything :P) and it wasn't as hard as we thought it would be, probably because we helped each other. i'm finally going to the gym again and i realized i just can't do it by myself... unfortunately, he is not at all interested in losing weight and getting in shape, so i'm on my own with this.
i was a yo-yo dieter for years, and at one time weighed as little as 100lbs, and another time weighed as much as 150, so my metabolism is pretty shot. i'm determined to get healthy again. oh, how i miss energy! having some online buddies with weekly weigh-ins would be really great. hopefully we can help each other!

remember you guys...weigh ins are on thursdays! you can choose to post your changes in body measurements as well, up to you! All the best everyone!
If anyone else on the same boat wants to join us...just c'mon in!
We CAN do this LADIES!!!!!!
OK here are my measurements, I located a tape measure :)
current weight: 123-125# varies by the day!
age: 30
GW: 120#
waist: 27
thigh: 19.5
hips: 34
bust: 32 (OMG I hope they don't shrink anymore!!!)
As you can see, I tend to gain my weight around my belly :( I'd really like to tone this area up the most!
I've also been a yo-yo dieter.... my heaviest being around 150#, that was at the time I found out I had underactive thyroid disease. Ever since I started the meds for it though I was able to lose a lot of that weight. I wonder if I shot my thyroid from all the weight fluctuations my whole life? And all those diet pills!? Anyway I've always been small, around 110-115#, then I started putting on a little extra weight once I went to college, then met my husband. I've kept the 20# off now for about 1 year but am just stuck at this plateau stage. Sometimes I wonder if I should eat more, maybe my body is doing the "starvation mode" thing, but then I get scared to eat more thinking I will gain weight! So I am at a loss, and can't figure out what to do! I work out harder, but it still doesn't come off. One day I made it to 122.8, then the next day I was back to 123-124. DAMMIT! I can't get back down!
desert_rose: Last night I did the HIIT workout on the treadmill...... wow was I beat afterwards! I jogged at 5.5mph for 1.5 minutes, then sprinted at 8mph for 30 seconds. I did this rotation for about 15 minutes straight. I hope I burned as much fat as they say you do! Any other suggestions for the HIIT workout? Am I doing it right?
my workouts usually consist of the stairclimber for 40-45mins (high intensity) 3-4x/week, or treadmill 40-45mins (running for about 20-25mins and walking brisk the remainder) 3-4x/week.....whichever one I feel like doing that day. I also lift weights 3-4x/week. I will admit that I tend to not do crunches as much as i probably should to get my belly toned......my belly is the hardest area to get toned, I need it to look better for Key West in 1 month!!!
by the way, where does everyone live? I live in Michigan.
OK girls, we CAN do this! Let's encourage each other! Maybe we should have a partner to help be more focused with each other? Just a suggestion!
I'm 5'6, 131 now, up from 123 a month ago due to tonnes of exams and stress-eating.
My goal is also 120 and in the last couple of months I have also noticed how i plateaued at 127 for quite awhile. To combat this a lowered my calorie intake even more, and excercised at a higher intensity nearly everyday. This affected my metabolism and when I reached 123 I became a bit slack and let myself indulge in certain foods too often.
Considering the sheer amount of nuts and chocolate I ate whilst having NIL exercise in the last month, a gain of 8 pounds isn't actually that much. Yet when I was at 131 before, I most likely had a higher muscle percentage than I do now...
So in the next 4 weeks, I hope to get back to around 125 using my old regime, and stick to it no matter what. I am sad that I let myself go, but now that I have tasted this 'defeat' I certainly won't let myself taste it twice.
Yes, I'm in! I haven't run into a plateau, but I'm losing very slowly. I could definitely be better about my calorie intake.
5'4, 138 lbs.
