Are any of you 5'4-5'6 and plateauing at ~130 pounds?? :D

I'm 5'5 (cw: 133lbs), and have never ever managed to get below 128...I always got discouraged in the past...I notice that so many women around my height tend to plateau in their 130's as well, that's why I'm calling on y'all!

This time I'm determined to get to my goal (120lbs or size 4...whichever comes first). A friend of mine who successfully overcame the 130 plateau told me that it's the most difficult plateau to overcome (and she knows her stuff since she was obese once). So we should start a group! That way we can keep motivating each other to reach our goals...let's see who gets to push through their plateau first...then we can share tips and all that stuff!

I know, I know that weigh in day is Thursdays, but Saturdays are just a whole lot eaier for me. I am a student and Thursdays are crazy! I hope it's okay for me to be way late on updating...!

Any who, I did weigh in yesterday and I am thirlled to say I am down to 128lbs! (wooohoo, c:) I do expect some of that to be water weight since I weighed in before eating breakfast or drinking any water.

my measurments are still about the same... (my first measurments I sent in were estimants. I hate measuring too much and sometimes I just flat out forget my numbers. How on earth do you do that?)

bust: 34in(please don't get too much smaller!!)

skinny waist: 26in

actual waist(about your belly button): 30in

love handles area: 35in

hips: 39in

thiegh: 23in around (which I totally haattteeee. I wish my theighs would be smaller... but hey, this is why I am doing this, isn't it?)

How come at 120, i wear a size 2.  do you mind if I ask what is your hip/waist measurement currently?

My thigh is 21 inches, hips-35, waist-27, bust- 34 -height- 5'6

I'll check my weight in two weeks. I didn't get a chance to excercise this past weekend.

it must just depend on body size/shape and the clothing brand...... I weigh anywhere from 123-125 and wear a size 4.  The size 4 is a little bigger in the waist but fits good in the butt/thigh area.  I also can fit into a size 2 but don't like how tight they are on my hips and butt.  These are my measurements, very similar to yours!

height 5'3

waist: 27

thigh: 19.5

hips: 34

bust: 32

Hi and welcome to the group!

I don't know my dress size :s but my current measurements are 36-27-37.5...my belly is 28.5" and thighs 22"...so I think I wear size 8 jeans?

I want to lose 2 inches off my belly...sigh

And...oh you guys on here...you know what...just do your weigh-ins on whatever day of the week you want...as long as we're consistent in logging in our weight and/or measurements weekly, it should be fine :p good luck and keep pushing!

Thanks for starting this Desert Rose, it's really been helping me to stay accountable, even if none of you know where I live...;-)

To get in on the clothing size debate: I have a small waist in proportion to my booty, so my pant size is bigger than girls who have narrow hips, even at the same height and weight. Dress size, is another matter,  I can end up in a smaller size than my narrow hipped friends because of my waist, it's all proportions.

All I know is that I have a really hard time finding clothes that fit properly no matter what my weight.

This is just stinking for me!!!

136 today, it is ttom, hopefully its just some water weight. I hope I have a big number next week.

 don't mention it jocalo, it's cool you're doing great...keep it up :)

I, on the hand, felt a little unwell today...so I ended up over-eating (ate around maintenance calories) and didn't get to do any exercise...it's the very much dreaded ttom again...

but since today's my weigh in day:

weight: 133 (it must be water weight...gahhh...i hate weighing myself when i'm on my periods)

measurements: same, + half an inch on my tummy...i feel bloated and sick

Please can I join. I recently gained 5lbs and now weight 140.  I am 5'5" and I am 59yrs old.  I always stayed between 130 and 135 but in Jan started thyroid meds for an under active thyroid. I have been doing 1200 calories a day and I do weight training twice a week and either walk 3-4 everyday or do the elliptical for 30  mins.  Nothing is helping and I am stuck.  I am small bones  should in under 130. But, never seem to get there.  Any suggestions?

Hi fudgemum, welcome to the group! First of all I wanna say kudos for getting the weight-training in! My mum is around your age, and I only wish I could get her to start picking up some weights. Maybe you are stuck at your current weight because you have gained a little bit of muscle? When the weighing scale fails you, always reach for the measuring tape...you might've lost inches...so keep track of your measurements and the way your clothes fit too. Good luck! And don't be too hard on yourself...take a day off and eat at maintenance...you might find yourself lighter the next morning, it sounds crazy but it works.

just weighing in. 140. i'm so discouraged, i am averaging 1400 cals a day. 1200 on my lazy days and 1400 or 1500 on my gym days... i don't know what to do anymore. i don't know if i should eat less? i am afraid of starvation mode. mayeb i need to eat more? ugh.

i've decided to go to the gym *every single day* until may 13th. (i'm going out of town for 5 days then) maybe that will kick my metabolism back into gear! what do you guys think??

i am soo frusturated!! ive been stuck at 131.2 for the past 3 weeks and it's getting me down. ive even upped my workouts about 20 mins...and i workout everyday. i started my diet/exercise thing on march 7th...and everything was a breeze at first...but my brother always says the first 10 pounds are the easiest. now it seems like no amount of lunges, crunches, and running can make my fat budge. i carry most of my fat in my stomach and its so disgusting. i eat about 1200 to 1500 calories a day....for the past month my waist hasnt changed from 29 inches :(

hey spakle...we're exactly the same weight! I eat the same amount you do too...it is freaking difficult to get below 130...and women who have successfully gone down to their 120's can testify to this, that's why I started this group...we just have to keep going...consistency is important at this stage, never let yourself get discouraged...the results will come even if it takes time...I'm going to try HIIT this coming week as well as fasted cardio in the mornings, I'm hoping it will start turning things around....I'm also planning to up my protein intake...my measurements have stayed the same for weeks now and it's driving me nuts lol.

themusiclives, you can definately try daily cardio...it works I swear...just don't start killing yourself if you don't have the time...but if you do have the time for daily cardio, then go ahead and do it!! Don't forget your strength training...I wish I could do 50-60mins of cardio everyday, but I'm just so bogged down by Uni...grrr.

Wow, I really wish I would have seen this thread when it started because it completely fits my situation. I'm 5'5" and have been stuck in the 130s for years. My highest weight has been about 145 and my lowest was 123. I miss being in the 120s!

Right now I weigh 134. Bust=37", Waist=29" (so bloated!), Tummy=35", Hips=38", Thighs=21"

I feel like a giant ball of chunk. I would love to be in the 120s again.

hey dimishushi, it's never too late to join us...we do have weekly weigh ins, you can choose any day of the week you want as long as you're consistently reporting back your weight and/or measurements every week. This is more a support group than it is a weight log so that's cool I guess :p

btw, what did you do to get down to 123 pounds? the lowest weight I've ever been was 128...I'm so going to change that in the next coming weeks.....

Thanks for letting me join!

When I got down to 123 lbs I was very active and paid very close attention to my diet. I know this sounds weird, but I think removing diet soda from my diet played a large role. I had been a heavy Diet Coke drinker before I got serious about losing weight and got down to 123. I also avoided sugar, red meat and simple carbohydrates.

Exercise really helped too. Everyday I would start my morning with a long walk (sometimes jogged for part of it) before I ate breakfast. I would also go to the gym 3-5 times a week in the evening. I would never miss a morning of walking though.

Fast forward to 3 years later and I am back guzzling the Diet Coke and am 11 lbs heavier. I have really been working on my diet the past 3 months and have had little results. I think the key to my weight loss will be to increase my activity and stop the soda.

Hi Dimishushi,

I don't know if it's true, but I've heard  that the body doesn't recognize the difference between diet and regular soda when it come to insulin production. So, even if there aren't extra calories in diet soda, it still tells the body to store fat from your other calories because it raises the insulin level to sugar rush levels. I've heard from other people that diet soda stalled their weight loss too, so maybe that's the key.

Dimishushi and jocalo, I had no idea...I've been guzzling 2 cans of diet coke per day...I find myself getting bloated after having diet soda, but I thought it was because the drinks are carbonated, not because of the sugar subs in it...I'll try and cut it down and see if it positively affects my results....I'm a lover of sugar substitues, I use Sweet & Low/Equal in my coffee daily (about 2-4 tablets a day)...I'm not ready to give it up...but cutting down the diet soda should be a good start for me.

i do an hour of cardio every time i go to the gym, split between the elliptical and treadmill and then i do my arms, thighs and abs on the machines. i also walk and take the bus instead of driving. but, i was only going to the gym 3 days a week, or 4. that's why i figured maybe if i go every single day, no matter what, then maybe my body will snap out of it's coma? :-/ but damn, not gonna lie... i'm tired!

guys, what the heck is this HIIT you're all always talking about?

themusiclives,

HIIT is High Intensity Interval Training. The principle is based on challenging our bodies out of adapting to exercise. It is used by athletes for quick conditioning. It is basically alternating between exercising hard and actively resting in short intense bursts.

This is a great 8 week HIIT workout and I think it is organized well and easy to follow.

hope that helps!

Hi everyone, how is everyone doing?

I didn't post my stats last week but I did take my measurements.  It was strange, in the morning on my scale I was 138 but after work at my friends I was 135.  I definately like her scale betterCool.  Saturday I weighed again on my scale and it was 135 and yesterday it was back up again.  Who really knows!  I guess I will go off the measurements and fit of my clothes instead.  The fact that it is that time of the month every other week doesn't really help either!

I had a Dr. appointment yesterday and I asked her if she had any suggestions regarding why I am having such a hard time losing.  Especially since I have been tracking calories and have increased my excercise.  She recommend getting a calorie counter device.  That way I know for sure how many calories I am burning in a day instead of going off a website based upon an average.  I guess knowledge is power!  Even though it was pretty expensive, I bought a go wear fit.  It is my early birthday present.  I can't wait to get it!

jocalo - I have been using that HIIT program you posted for a couple weeks.  How do you like it?  I got it off this site which also has several other programs, for anyone that is interested. http://www.intervaltraining.net/hiit.html

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
