???

It is more than likely water weight, which will shed with the ending of your period (or a week or so after).

Don't freak out or stress, you'll make it worse by aggravating your body. Just eat well, drink enough, and exercise.

so i have to wait 1-2 weeks for the  3 lbs to leave?!?!? i wanted to shed  like 5-7 lbs in tha ttime. ugh this p uts me back at swquare 1

Uncleben, you need to get it through your head that your weight and the amount of fat you have on your body are two different things, and the number on the scale is not a reflection of how much fat you have lost. You are not back to square one, and as a woman, you are just going to have to accept that your body retains water at times. Plus, you were planning on losing 5-7 pounds in 1-2 weeks? That doesn't sound very healthy, unless you have a LOT of weight to lose, and judging by your profile picture, you dont.

7 in 2 weeks = 3.5 lbs thats not too much
also water makes me look huge and fat and the number on the scale really bothers me so it feels like i am back at square 1

Well, then that's how you feel, and there's nothing that WE, the forums, can do about that.

That's something you're going to have to conquer in time, and accept as a fact of life, or FREAK OUT EVERYTIME YOU GAIN WATER WEIGHT. I prefer the acceptance route, myself.

im not saying you can do anything about it
im asking how to avoid gaining this weight.
i normally gain 3-4 lbs because i eat a lot during the time before my period but this time i ate clean and still gained the weight
Yeah, you gained weight. Water weight. Fluid retention. Not fat. It will go away soon so what difference does it make? None. Deal with it.

alright good job genious now how do i avoid this?
you're always ridin me in every thread i make. god damnitttt.
you really cant avoid it. Hormones do it even more than anything you are doing. As you get older your pms will get more intense sometimes. Also you just changed your salt thing so your body is adjusting again with that.

Just track it. If I have a really bad few water days I do lower carbs just to lose water bloat. I dont stay that way so I dont get in the low carb trap...But it helps a little bit.

so should i try to avooid sodium during this time? ive been trying to do that . it seems that every time i drink it retains and i get fatter looking but the thing is for some reason im thirstier than ever and im not doing anything to cause thirst
well your sodium was way too low. Thats why you are getting all bloaty fat. Too low in my salt will throw 5-10 (i **** you not) lbs on me. And a huge 5-10 at that. Its a strait up GUT. and it looks really bad because everywhere else is lean. LOL
I actually have a more stable wt with a higher normal amount of sodium. And if you are doing low carb on those days you dont want to go low sodium either as low carb is dehydrating and makes you thirsty. You can develop all those low sodium problems discussed earlier.

Try drinking smart water or gatorade. Anything with electrolytes. It will fix your salt balance (you still need to eat it of course but it helps when it gets thrown off by doing what you did) After your salt balance is restored you will cling to less water wt. Also drink the proper amount of water. Generally 1/2 your wt in ounces per day.

but it goes way after your period??
whenever i have a normal amount of sodium near the time of my period i start drinking alot . im aways really thirsty around the time of my epriod so i thought reducing sodium would help but no such luck im just as thirsty. this is so weird
Yeh it goes. But I dont mess around with my salt like you do. I only accidently have gone too low sodium. I think that really a huge part in why you bloat so badly. Especially if it sticks around post period and pops up here and there.

You drink alot because you are most likely dehydrated and when you have the salt it signals the body to rehydrated because its safe to. (remember too low salt = heart attack?) Drink gatorade instead of plain whenever you have that crazy thirst like that.

Everyone gets thirsty/snacky with pms. Some more than others.
You just can't avoid it and really do have to accept that. But if you continue eating well and exercising or whatever you normally do once the water weight comes off you might actually be down from where you were before you started to retain water. I always am. You can take diuretics if the number on the scale is that insanely important to you but don't make a habit out of it, that wouldnt be healthy. And 3.5 pounds is a bit to much to loose per week if you aren't that over weight, too by the way.
I'm sorry but it can't be made any clearer. If your sodium is low and you're eating super healthily and drinking enough water and you still gain a few in water weight (which will go away a few days later) then there is nothing you can do to prevent it. If it's not permanent fat gain then WHY is it so necessary to prevent it?

because your body could have taken on water as you are due on. which totally sucks but can happenFrown
Like three days before,if your diet consists of lots raisins,I try to eat more raisins. It can help you maintain by a 1bl. But, these really strict veggie diets I think , without grains or rice or sugar, and fat free milk help to control water weight. There is always the water pill,it's in the diet pill section the only one i would recommend .Diet pils are fads and are weak. Your body naturally  deflates the water retention or get super colon cleanse .Because we are constipated from the time we have PMS. Even three pounds can be constipation. Yeah, but fluatating isn't fun. You seriously overweight ,but it never hurts to be careful around your period.
I just tracked it closely because I havent been as this really p's me off too. (i never used to bloat like this when younger or maybe i didnt notice..ehhh?) Anyway...

+5.6 lbs that went away and is still going away. I feel like another pound or two of water weight will come off by the looks of it.

(it may be more than 5.6 of water gain because im dieting too so my new real wt post bloat may be even lower)

every girl gains weight during her period. if its that bad for you, take some water pills

btw, its a bit annoying when you think everyone is riding you on threads, you just seem ignorant when you do that

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
