On a quest for the illusive gap between the thighs - (closed)

Quote  |  Reply

I am currently 190.5lb 5ft8/9 tall  with thighs measuring 25 inches each(well at least they are symetrical, the only good thing I can say about them)

I am creating this topic in order for us to share tips on how you have/intend to get that illusive gap. And for people to share how successful their methods have been/ are being so far.

My strategy

1) lose weight, I am losing weight at a rate of 2lbs a week and have been for a while now and hope to stick with it.

2) excercise bike, I plan to up the amount of time that I spend on my exercise bike and if the weather is good(I am from the UK so I don't hold much hope) then go cycling outside aswell.

I will try this for a while and will post my thigh measurements(and weight) each week.

And out of curiosity, if there is any of you lucky people out there with "the gap" how small did your thighs have to be to get it?

Come join me in my QUEST !!!

Progress Smile although my measurements haven't changed much there is a definate gap appearing. Standing up there is about a half inch gap at the top of my thighs and with my knees together there is a gap for about 6 inches above my knees. Smile

How do you stand exactly? feet together or a couple inches apart?? cuz if I stand with my feet together there's no gap at all Cry

Feet together I get the gap for 6 inches above my knees, although this has only appeared recently. Standing normally theres a gap all the way up, again this wasn't there before I lost weight.

Oh my gosh ... I gained 3.5 lbs in one DAY. I'm about ready to cry.

it's ok!! it probably water retention, did you eat salty foods? is your TOM around the corner?? To legitimately have gained that much weight you would gave to eat 12,250 calories over your maintenance. I'm sure you didn't do that. drink some more water to balance your fluids and you should be ok in a day or two.

Girlfighting, Thank you for your reply -- I think you're totally right.

I can never figure out when TTOM is for me, but I'm pretty positive it's rapidly approaching. And yesterday I found myself salting everything (which is unusual for me).

I've had two liters of water this morning and I'm trying to avoid eating salty foods today (and probably the next few days).

On top of all this, I've been dealing with a lot of nausea. I could hardly sleep last night and on my walk to work this morning I was fighting off the urge the throw up.

I'm not sure what's up with my body.

Anyone know if you can consume too much water in one day?

Yes, yes you can.

Be careful!!!

To be fair, over-consumption of ANYTHING is bad for you, water included.

Thanks for the article, Bicycles.

I'm a bit confused by it because it seems like the amount can vary from person to person.

I usually drink about 2 liters of water a day.

I've had three since I started work this morning (3.5 hours). I don't know that I feel thirsty but I just feel really off.

I've been feeling somewhat sick since about Saturday. Not ill, but not right.

Maybe I should call my doctor?

*ugh*

Week 3 stats!

Hips - 95 cm (37.4 in) - 92 cm (36.2 in) - down 3 cm!

Thighs - 61 cm (24.4 in) - 60 cm (23.6 in) - down another 1 cm!

Waist - 73 (28.8 in) 72.5 (28.5 in) - down 0.5 cms (3.5 cms altogether).

Weight - 65.0  (143.3 lbs) - 63.0 (138.9 lbs) - down 2 kgs!

Height - 160 cms (5'3)

BMI - 25.4 - 24.6 - down 0.8 points.

A smashing week (and this is despite attending a birthday party two days ago, where I completely let myself go)! The biggest news was FINALLY being able to go under a BMI of 25, which has been a secret wish of mine since I was a teenager.
Cms and kgs are being dropped like bad habits, and I can feel it.

HOW ABOUT YOU, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN? I await impatiently for your good tidings.

Hips - 39 in - same

Thighs - 24 in - same

Waist - 24 in - same

Weight - 136 lbs - down 1.5lbs (yay!)

Height - 5'5

BMI - 22.6 - down 0.3 points (double yay!).

Down 1.5lbs despite having lots of fun and cheating on my bday last weekend. Haven't been to the gym in a while as life is very hectic these days (work, school, plus I'm moving this weekend), but I still try to keep active. Hoping to get back in the gym once things kinda settle down.

Great job this week, ladies!

I'm going to sit this one out in light of my recent meltdown.

See you next Thursday!

Good morning ladies! I'm ready to get back on the wagon. I was real bad the end of last week, not counting, not exercising, eating bad foods, I even had a morning where I jumped on the scale and it said 161! yikes! But thankfully that was all water weight. This morning I'm back to 154.6, good but not great. anyway. I'm gonna be ambitious and go for 150 by thanksgiving.  I figure ththis last 1.6 pounds is still water and salt, so really its only 3lbs.  wish me luck! and good luck to all!

B- cereal and tea
S1- pita with hummus
L- ham sandwich
D- butternut squash soup
S2- protein shake
EXERCISE- 80 min weights and pilate

Good luck!

My week hasn't been too great either, but I went to the gym today and got back on the wagon before I was fully off. Feel great am looking forward to tommorrow's weigh in. :)

Wow, an entire month gone by? I'll include my monthly changes in brackets.

Week 4 stats!

Hips - 92 cm (36.2 in) - 89.5 cm (35.2 in) - down 2.5 cms! (down 5.5 cms total)

Thighs - 60 cm (23.6 in) - same (down 2 cms total)

Waist - 72.5 (28.5 in) - 72 (28.3 in) - down 0.5 cms (4 cms altogether!)

Weight - 63.0 (138.9 lbs) - 63.2 (139 lbs) - up 0.2 kgs (3.3 kgs (7.3 lbs) lost in total)

Height - 160 cms (5'3)

BMI - 24.6 - 24.7 - up 0.1 point (went down 1.3 points in total)

A wonderful month for me, as I can definitely see changes. Fluctuated like crazy this last week, but despite the minor weight gain, actually lost cms in the process. Ran my first 7 kms yesterday (took me 45 minutes). Hoping next month will be just as motivated and full of energy - and wishing the same to all of you!

NOW LET'S SEE THOSE RESULTS!

Hips - 39 in - same

Thighs - 24 in - same

Waist - 24 in - same

Weight - 135.5 lbs - down .5lbs (yay!)

Height - 5'5

BMI - 22.6 - same

I'm happy with my .5lbs lost as I cheated last weekend (had pizza), and all that sodium had me bloated at the start of the week. I went up as high as 140. Drinking lots of water to flush my system. Hopefully, I will see some numbers below 135 next week:)

I'm still doing terrible. Fell off the wagon two weeks ago, how embarrassing.

I really need to get things in check. Any suggestions, ladies?

Great job Bicycles & Icequeen! Congrats on a month of hard work!

I know everyone wants to do weekly measurements, but I prefer to do monthly, so I can see progress more clearly

I found an awesome leg exercies that works the glutes( bum muscles), quads, ( front of the thighs), adductor ( Hip mucles) and abductor muscles (inside thigh)

  1. lay on your tummy and chest, with your hands flat on the floor stacked on top of each other.
  2. rest your forhead on your stacked hands
  3. contract your bum and lift your legs about 4-7 inches off the ground. (hint about as high as a small soup can)
  4. slowly clap your ankles/arch of feet together for a count of 30 ( or 15 for beginners)
  5. release and slowly lower the legs to the ground
  6. rest for a count of 10 and repeat for at least 3 sets of 15-30 "claps"

it is an awesome exercise, and it takes about 3 minuets to do!

mom6, thanks for the suggestion cuz I really need to work the back of my legs. I'll definitely be trying it.

collier- take it one step at a time. Sometimes it seems like you'll never be able to get back on track. Try to change one thing per week, and see if it works. I haven't gone to the gym in weeks cuz life is a little hectic right now, but I promise myself I'll go when I can... in the mean time, I've been trying to eat right and I do squats and lunges around the house whenever I get a free minute or two. Hopefully, u'll find something that works for u.

    Thanks, Icequeen.

I think most if it is because I'm depressed. This morning I ate two cookies for no reason (they didn't even taste good!) and now I'm sitting at work with a bowl of oatmeal with almonds that I can't bring myself to eat.

I just don't know what to do with myself. It's really hard when life throws things at you when you're not ready for it.

    *sigh*

Collier- hope everything went well for the past week, and u were able to deal with the unexpected things...

    Hips - 39 in - same

    Thighs - 24 in - same

    Waist - 24 in - same

    Weight - 135 lbs - down .5lbs

    Height - 5'5

    BMI - 22.5 - down 0.1 point

I'm a little disappointed with myself, I was down to 134 and I cheated a few times this week and had to fight the water weight. Hopefully I can stay on track for the next few weeks. Finally hitting the gym tonite after class. Yay!

Hope you guys had a good week.

    Congrats, Icequeen!

This week was another bad one. I'm up to 106.5 and I didn't even bother to take my measurements. I know I'm not doing well and having the solid proof might just push me over the edge.

This morning after my weigh in I was sad so I proceeded to eat half a bag of animal cookies (and a bit of peanut butter). Wow! That's a great way to get back on track!

    *Here's to a better week ...*

    Good luck, ladies!
