Question for Ladys, no boys allowed srry
Lady's How do you control ur cravings during your Period!! Iv'e been doing really bad past few days cus of it, always hungry just wanna eat!
Plus i weight more! i mean do u actually weight more when u have ur period? is it like water weight? i know i didint just shoot up 5 pounds on a few cookies =/. please tell me i'm wrong lol
I always want to eat more during my period, so I let myself.. I also factor in a square of extra dark chocolate per day (it's only 40 or 60 calories). You actually do burn more calories during your period, so upping your intake is justified-- probably not as much as you would want, though.
You WILL weigh more during your period.. but it's temporary. I think you suspected that... and come on, you should know better than to weigh yourself after eating cookies. One, there's the weight of the actual food and drink from the day in your stomach being added to your weight, because your body hasn't processed it yet. And two, you're a bit bloated from your period already..
i didin't weight myself after i ate the cookies dear ^^, it was on my second day of my period it's really heavy a felt bloated so i got on the scale and was amazed on how much more u can weight during ur period lol. I idin't know, so now i do, ty for that info, honestly i thought it was air so i shoulden't have weighted more =p , duh me
I discovered Fiber One Chocolate and Oat bars and I love them! They are soooo tasty, I actually like them better than a candy bar which is saying a lot. When I have a sweet tooth during my period I eat one as a desert and it fills me up (they have 1/3 the recommended daily fiber!)
I also try to eat lots of fruits and veggies and mini meals instead of snacks so I feel satisfied at least for a while.
This seems to work pretty well for me. I have my period right now and I'm not feeling as hungry as I usually do!
Anyone else like that?
as far as controling cravings... I have no friggen idea. usually what I do is eat what I need to eat, and make sure I work out more. not sure how effective it is...
I think I gain a couple pounds before Aunt Flo comes to visit and then I lose it when she leaves.
CRAVINGS, here's my 2cents: Whatever you are craving go out a buy a low cal/carb version of it. Not on my cycle but at random time's I'll crave chocolate so I have a SmartOnes, double fudge cake dessert it's 220 cals, which may be a lot of for some ppl, but it's definitely better than a 500+ calorie regular cake. They even have a Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough dessert that is 170 cals.
That is exactly me to a T. The week before is hell but once my period is actually here a weight has been lifted off of me so to speak and it shows on the scales tremendously.
The positive thing is tha bad weigh weeks of a period are often followed by great ones the next week which I assume include actual weight loss from the prior period week that just didnt show up because of temporary water retention.

I think I'm weird, because I gain weight before my peroid and than lose it once it starts. Like the whole week before I start gaining water weight and I feel so bloated, chubby, FAT, etc! Than my period starts, the weight is gone and I feel like I've dropped 10 lbs... Unfortunatly I haven't dropped 10 lbs, but that's how it feels.
Anyone else like that?
yeah, im exactly the same!
Yes, it is just water retention so nothing to worry about. Don't even weigh yourself that time of the month. LOL.
My cravings are always for chocolate. I always have either chocolate chips or Hersheys kisses in my cabinet to satisfy these cravings. I only have one kiss or a tablespoon of chips, and I take a very long time enjoying them while they melt in my mouth. This always seems to satisfy my craving and it's really not a lot of calories.
I do:

The high days are great for me to include more of what I want to sink my teeth into lol. There's nothing wrong with a woman eating more during her period; our hormones were anticipating a pregnancy. You should never be hungry, stay satisfied and eating mainly wholesome, real foods and allow 10% or so for discretionary calories.
I realize this is definitely not for everybody..but I skip my period. I take the pill continuously. This is for a few reasons...1) I hate having a period 2) I don't want to get pregnant 3) really keeps me on an even keel physically and mentally 4) helps me keep my iron levels up. My doctor says it's fine, but recommends still having 4 periods a year..which I think is much more manageable than 12!
I don't get all bent about it, I figure it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to gain 5 pounds in the course of a day, so it has to be a combo of water retention/bloating, hormonal changes causing me to hold on to a little extra pudge, etc. If I stressed about it, it would only make me eat more chocolate, so I don't. :)
@ Kate_gw
ya my doc reommended that but i dont know i think u have ur period cus u need too?

I have the opposite problem, for a few days before my period and during it I have to force myself to eat and half the time I throw it up again anyway, NOT intentionally by the way, just because of the pain of the cramps. Pretty much all I can stomach for about a week is soup.
Luckily I only have to go through it once every 4 months (under doctor's instructions) - otherwise I'm bedridden for 3 or 4 days every month.
