How can I recover from this madness?
I started my day with good intentions of eating healthy and getting back on track after Christmas. But I ended the day eating DOUBLE my calorie goal! And most of the calories came from chocolate & sweets. I am so disappointed but I don't want to dwell, I want to get back on track and lose weight. How bad do you think today was for me? I feel sick.. Please help
Unfortunately, I so relate to what you are talking about. I have done this same pattern everyday since the Saturday before Christmas and I am up 11 pounds. I tried everything... and still failed everyday. So tonight I either froze the sweets or threw them out! I am going to get back on track tomorrow. I have said this before, but will do it tomorrow! Because my eating has been making me feel sick and I can't take it any more!!! Keep me posted and I will keep you posted. Together we can do this. Anyone else want to join us?!
Thanks for the reply, I know how you feel! I'm just glad I only overdid it for the past few days which isnt as bad as it could have been... I think I must have only gained 2 or 3 lbs, Im sorry you gained so much! Thats difficult :( But we can help each other through it, and yes tomorrow will be our fresh healthy start! I left my chocolates at my uncles house and we restocked our fridge with new healthy food, so it will be easier.
If we eat healthy starting tomorrow & meet our calorie goal (Mine is 1400-1500) and exercise, we can slowly start losing the weight we gained and get back on track.
I also struggled getting back on track after Christmas...I had lost 30 lbs until the last week. I dont want to get depressed about it so I am not getting on the scales just yet. I gave or threw away all the leftover holiday candy and goodies today so the temptation is gone. I am going to be good tomorrow, I have worked to hard to stop now!
I am choosing to think about it as I have a huge jump on all the people who are just starting on New Years...and I have been successful so far when so many people who make New Years resolutions fail...I WILL SUCCEED!!
@ Carissy
I definatly feel where your coming from. I srrsly ate way too much Thurs, Frid, and Sat. I really really ate too much on Saturday. Yesterday I decided to get back on track, so I ate healthy but I didnt work out. Today I am 100% back on track. I did change up my calorie intake and my work outs a little bit so I can help prevent any type of binge/splurges in the future. I had an extremely long talk with my dad, and we came to the conclusion that Its best to fix it now, and for the future, rather than dwell past and the fact that I ate all that food. I bet in 3 days I probably gained 5-7 pounds....I hope you are successful with getting back on track, and Have a Happy New Years!! (=
I dont have things in the house that i know i will over indulge on most of the time its easiest if its not there - but christmas of course changes that and of course family do want sweets, chocolate and other junk foods - its hard to keep the will power up and refuse those yummy naughty foods - one thing i do re- chocolate i will have a low cal choc drink there is enough of it to satisfy the choc cravings with little cal intake.
If i do lapse i dont write off the whole day i just think ok no need to do any more of that, had my naughty moment - i dont look at it as starting again just a blip in my day and look at what my next foods can be to stop so much damage being done or maybe a bit of excersice (dance is good fun thing to do and lifts your mood too) - we are never gonna be 100% forever and have to learn to accept our naughty moments without guilt - get up have a dance about and get back too it :)
SAMEE!!! I agree with like everything that previously said.
Luckily, today I am back on track FOR GOOD.
I took last Monday off, which was completely unplanned, but I felt better for it. We all need a break sometimes. I always take Xmas Day off, but I didn't expect to overeat like I did. On Boxing Day, I exercised right after I woke up. Knowing that eating too much would wipe out the calories I burned through an hour of kickboxing, I stayed on track, but miscounted my dinner and had 200cals more than expected. You could still exercise to reduce the 'damage' down by eating above your range - that's what others do on their 'cheat' or refeed days where they eat more than usual, and they still lose each week.
However, today I'm feeling temptation from my giant chocolate cookies I got for Xmas. I've had to small pieces and estimated the calories, so I don't feel like eating anymore. Maybe eating a bit will stop your cravings?
Thank you everyone for your replies, I dont have any more junk food in the house and I will be back on track now. :) I actually weighed myself this morning and even though I still feel stuffed from the night before, somehow I weigh 142.8lbs. which is only .8lbs over my normal weight. This makes me happy! And I know I will be back to losing weight immediately, although I lose slowly. I hope everyone is getting rid of the sweets and temptations so that we all can begin losing weight again! Its the holidays, its bound to happen, so no regrets! Good luck all(:
And Happy New Year!

@ Carissy----I have hit a few road blocks in the last month. There was one day where I gained 6 lbs from Saturday to Sunday, but wound up losing it and an additional 2 lbs by the following Friday. I can guarantee you I ate double my calorie goal that day--probably around 3,000 calories maybe more...I think the key for me is I work out 5-6 times a week and do a minimum of 60 mins of cardio per workout. I have been doing this for almost 2 months and am losing weight at a very good pace.
I try to eat no more than 1500 calories per day and Are you doing any kind of exercising? Also, I don't know if you do this, but don't weigh yourself every day. I am doing a weight loss challenge on the fourms here and we weigh in every Friday. As of this weekend, I stopped weighing myself daily.
I had a bad weekend this weekend too, but only wound up gaining like 3 lbs since Friday. I went to the gym this morning like I usually do and will continue to go every day this week. It's just a matter of getting back on track. Use your bad day as a learning experience. I know for a fact I will never repeat the day where I gained 6 lbs. Good luck to you!! Mike

I am back on track. Ate healthy all day and went to the gym after work tonight. Made my healthy breakfast for tomorrow and will prepare my lunch to make sure I maintain my healthy path! Take care all!
I have had a good day so today also...I am at 1250 calories right now so I can have a skinny cow ice cream bar at 100 calories for a snack. I also did 30 minutes on the elliptical, so I feel better getting back to my daily routine after the holiday madness...
I've had a good two days so far this week..75 minutes on the elliptical this morning, followed by some yummy fruit for breakfast. I can't wait for New Years Eve to be over though..that's going to be my biggest test. I'm also not weighing myself until Friday morning. Wish me luck! Mike
Thank you Mike!
And I am back on track also, I weighed 142.4lbs. this morning which is my normal weight, and I ate PERFECTLY yesterday, literally not one bad food went into my mouth, I am so proud. I ate 1,423 calories. Also I had wrestling practice yesterday and will have it this week through thursday. I think I can and will start losing weight again, seriously. (:
Good luck all!
I also did so good yesterday, ate 1500 calories on the dot!! Was also brave and got on the scales for the first time since 2 weeks of out of town company and family celebrations...I am up 2 lbs, which actually is way better than I thought. But the hardest thing is the first day of getting back on track...I did it so I am on track again and am soooo glad about that! Now to lose that 2 lbs and the other 15-20 that I need to finish to my final goal!! Whoopieeee on the right path again!

Congrats for only 2lbs. :)
Good luck with your weight loss journey! I have 12 more pounds to go. :) The most difficult 12lbs. that I have ever experienced...
I worked out again tonight. Weighed 150 this morning so was down 3 pounds of my water weight. Hopefully the rest will come off quickly as well!
I just love being able to smirk when all the New Years resolution diet commercials are on the tv...I started in September so I am so far ahead of all of that!!
Good Luck Carissy with those last 12 lbs!

That's a really nice feeling to have knowing that you are already months ahead of your resolution. I have a really bad feeling that my health club is going to be jammed packed come Monday morning. They only have 5 ellipticals and that's the only machine I like to use for cardio. I will probably have to fight people off to use one ![]()
@ Carissy -- good job! I'm glad you were able to rebound from your bad day. Good luck with your wrestling season. I was in wrestling in high school many many moons ago (graduated in 1992) back when I was thin and in shape! LOL
@ chattynoel -- good to hear that the water weight is coming off and that you're back on track. The same thing happened to me when I gained 6 lbs in one day and I was weighing myself every day. I actually lost like 8 lbs that week, so I'm sure all you gained will probably come off as well.
Mike
