Saving up Cals
okay so today, like everyday, I have made out my meal plans and including all I've ate so far (breakfast&lunch) and my main evening meal plus snacks I have a total of 1100 cals, now my question is do I eat more even though I know I wont be hungry or because I know I'm indulging this weekend (bigtime) is it okay to just leave it at that and save up the extra cals I'm missing until then. My stats are 5'10 139lbs looking to get down to 133-135lbs and i'll prob run for 40mins tonight...
I more or less successfully saved up calories last week. I knew I was going to eat a ton of food the following weekend (I ate more than I expected, actually). So, I reduced my calories and increased my exercise. I ended up losing a good 3 pounds. Then after the weekend I gained back about 3.5-4. I think if you use the "last 7 days" on the diet analysis on this website, it'll be a good guide. Try to keep your weekly average at or below your calorie target for weight loss.
I don't do it that way. I eat as normally as I can and then over the special weekend I try to eat under or near maintenance in order to maintain my current weight loss.
Others may disagree, but personally I think saving up a few calories here and there is fine. If I know I am going out to dinner on say Saturday night and I figure I will eat a meal consisting of say 1000 calories, when a usually dinner for me is roughly 400 calories I might save 100 calories for 5-6 days during the week to make up for eating more at my dinner out. My uncle was doing Weight Watchers and in that program there was some caveat that allowed him to save points (which for all intents and purposes converts to calories). He had tremendous success with this b/c he never felt deprived knowing that if he did really well during the week he could indulge in beer and other favorites on the weekend. Following that principle and recognizing his success, I think it is okay to save up calories.
I think Saving calories is not a bad idea, just make sure you are not under 1200 cals. a day. I know that on the weekend i will be drinking so i try to do the same thing. I also do that during the day, if i know i will drink that night then i dont eat as much since every beer i drink (bud select) is 98 cals. That is very true about the Weight Watchers points. I know a lady that saves her points to drink on the weekends. she is losing weight too.
