Shift working

Quote  |  Reply

Hi all,

Looking for some tips. I'm currently working on the Olympics and am on either a 6.30am-4pm shift or a 2pm-11.30pm shift. This is playing havoc with my sleep patterns, appetite and cravings.

I'm 5'4" 147lbs. UK size 12/14. I'm getting married at end Sept and am keen not to gain any and if possible loses a few pounds. I like cooking and am quite adventurous with food. I'm not great with wheat so am avoiding. I've never been a big exerciser but try to cycle the 30mins to work a couple of times a week and do Pilates after a back injury.

I'm trying hard to keep eating well and am generally bring in my main meal at work (lunch or dinner). And snacking on raw veggies, fruit, nuts. By my last shift of the week I'm shattered and giving into the hefty sugar cravings. It also means I'm not exercising as much as I usually do.

Any tips for calming the cravings, maximising the willpower and fitting in a bit more exercise?

Thanks!

My hubby does shift work. The day shift, he eats like normal, then excersizes in the evening.

2:30-11pm shift he gets up between 8-9am, he does some work around the house...then excersizes. Heats a light lunch. Then he eats dinner at work. When he comes come he goes straight to bed.
