Shorter ladies (5ft 7 and under) how many lbs between each dress size?

I would really appreciate it if you could post the amount of weight you had to lose to a dress size, preferable the smaller sizes (US 10 and under (UK 14)) because there are less inches between them :) I understand that everybody is different, and it all depends on where you lose the fat and how much muscle you have, but a rough estimate would be nice.

I'm 5"4, about 130lbs and a UK 12 (I think US 8) my measurements are 35-29-39 and I am wearing waist size 30 jeans. I would like to fit easily into my 27/28s again and was aiming to lost about 10-15lbs. I was wondering if that would be enough to drop about 3 inches from my waist and hips?

Thanks in advance :)

Unfortunately, I don't think there's a hard answer.  Clothing sizes seem to vary from store to store, and brand to brand.  But here's my progression, for what it's worth.

I started at 5'3", 210 pounds, and a US size 14 (I think I was stuffing myself into them like a sausage, though.)  I went down to a 12 at 190, a 10 at 180, and I just got a pair of size 8 pants today (I'm now at 170).

That said, I have a pair of size 10 pants from a different store that I've just now fit into.

As for losing 3 inches with 10-15 pounds, I'm not sure.  If losing weight is all you do, I would suspect 15 pounds isn't enough for three inches (though, admittedly, I'm really not sure.)  However, if you combine losing weight with toning and tightening muscles (you'd gain some muscle, and lose more fat) you might be able to manage it.  Hard to say.

I'm currently running 3/4 times a week and doing a little strength/flexibility twice a week, I don't know if that makes a difference?

Well, I just thought seen as losing 10-15 would mean losing about 10% of my body weight it might make more of a difference in inches than if I was heavier and lost the same amount.

It really is impossible to say.

It all depends on where YOU carry your weight (pear/ apple) and where you lose it from ... and all that varies with each individual.

I was in size 22 (USA) when I weighed 225.. now at 180 and my size 14's are getting loose, I could probably go down to a snug 12 in the style I wear (but can't afford new jeans at the moment)

Vbeattie is right, vanity sizing, style, make, manufacturer all make pants/jeans fit differently even in the same size.. so one 12 will fit whereas another 12, in a different style, won't.

Best thing I did was to take up weight training, big impact on my loss of inches around my jeans area. Squats, lunges, planks, pushups, burpees..

I bought jeans in the style I like but several sizes too small.. when I know I have lost weight/ inches I try them on and can see how close I am to getting into that size. Suggest you do the same.

You're right, it'll definately be a bigger difference than losing 10-15 pounds on a 200 pound frame.  I just dunno how many sizes it'll be.  Sizing is SO subjective, it's really unfair.

Men's clothes are all sized in inches.  I don't understand why women's clothes can't be the same.

I don't think it is very accurately connected to weight.

Here's an example: in 2006 I was 140lb at 5'3" and wore a UK 12-14. By 2009 I was 128lb and wore a UK 10. Then I dropped only 3lb when ill and was more of an 8. Then I put on 15lb (which was VERY upsetting at the time!) without changing anything about the way I ate or exercised... and became a 10-12 again (a good size smaller than last time I was 140lb). Worked hardcore to lose the weight for over a year, lost NOTHING on the scales, but am a 8-10 again. So now I am TWO sizes smaller than I was four years ago, but about the same weight. Very confusing! Conclusion: I threw away my scales and concentrate on how my clothes fit and how my body looks and my fitness levels.

I do a lot of exercise, so perhaps I have been reshaping my body. It certainly looks better these days.

Like others pointed out, there's no concrete answer. Everyone's different. You might drop a size after five pounds or after twenty. Instead of placing too much importance on losing weight, I'd focus more on the diet and exercise aspect. I've been eating mighty healthily (one slip up, heh) and running quite a bit and within about 9 days, my 12's are getting pretty baggy in the legs and bum--starting to loosen up in the stomach, but slower. Of course, once my body realizes that lack of preservatives and junk are going to be commonplace in the diet now, it'll calm down and slack off, but it's been a nice week. ;)

My point (in a roundabout way) is that your weight is fine. Just focus on eating well and exercising. You'll get the results you're after.

It depends on how much "fat" vs "muscle" you have in those pounds and where said "fat" is sitting.

I, for example, weighed 145 lbs in june of 2005 after having lost 55 lbs went from a size US 18 to a size 8 ETA - I'm 5'6"

I gained weight back after quitting smoking and some other things and jumped back up to a 14 - weighing 175 - then I started weight lifting and lifting heavy and have slowly gotten back into size 8's but I weigh 166 today.  Also some of my size 8's are getting loose in spots, but I can't go down to a 6 yet because I can't get the waist over my chubby thighs quite yet.

I too agree with kotov - eat right and exercise and soon you'll be fitting into something smaller.

Lets see -  I'm 5' 4'' and weigh 165 and currently size 12 At about 155lbs I wear a size 10 and at 145 a size 8.   I do carry a lot of my weight in my upper body if that info helps I bet those numbers would be different for a gal who is a pear shape vs my apple shape . In general, I seem to need to lose about 10 lbs to go down a size Hope this helps.......
